Father who killed his son because he was gay let out of jail after two years behind bars
A father who is accused of killing his own son for being gay has been placed on house arrest. Now the victim’s mother is speaking out.
In 2017, Giovanni Melton, 17, was shot and killed in Henderson, Nevada. His father Wendell Melton was arrested because police believed that he was responsible for the murder.
Now a judge has let Wendell Melton out on $200,000 bail and placed him on house arrest as he awaits trial.
“I felt betrayed,” said Veronica Melton, Giovanni Melton’s mother.

Researches have sounded the alarm after a children's toy powered by AI after it allegedly began talking about sexual fantasies.

Man Praised for Telling Grieving Parents They 'Made' Him Get Vasectomy
For a while, life was good. He got married, had a couple of dogs and lived in a modest house. But the sudden death of his brother on his honeymoon left his parents "devastated" for more reasons than one.
"My mom said that when we had kids I should name one after my brother," the man said. "I wasn't really thinking straight so I told the unvarnished truth. I had to choose between kids and paying off my student loans."

Counsellor Suggests Gay Parents More Likely To Abuse Kids
Cheryl Parrott, a counsellor at Rich Relationships Counselling in Sydney, Australia, implied same-sex relationships could be unsafe for children, in comments made public on Tuesday.
“Research has shown that children are safest in their biological families. That the highest rate of child abuse is usually perpetrated by an adult not the biological parent of a child,” she wrote.
“In a same sex relationship one (if not both) of the adults will not be the biological parent of that child.”

'Privileged' unemployed man is slammed for tweeting he resents his parents for 'spoiling' him
He started off the viral thread by saying he took 'a medium dose of acid' a few days prior, and 'admitted some things to myself' about his financial situation, including admitting to himself that he resented his mother after she gave him $100,000 for his birthday last August when he was not working.
The acid version of himself, Yuan said, told him: 'You feel like you were told by society that the way making living works is that you do labor and are paid a fair wage for your labor, and that's how you earn the right to exist and be a member of society.
'The reason you're alive right now and not starving to death on the street even though you haven't had a job in three years is because your parents send you money because they love you.'
And like I kind of get why they did that, but it led to me being incredibly sheltered in a bunch of ways. They never even made me do chores. I was very spoiled, and in retrospect, it wasn't good for me.'

El Salvador offers to house violent US criminals and deportees of any nationality
One of the most striking aspects of the deal is that Salvadorean law doesn’t differentiate between alleged gang members and people found guilty of a crime. Under the draconian state of emergency that has ruled the Central American country since 2022, authorities can detain anyone simply on the suspicion of being members of a gang.
Bukele has boasted a high incarceration rate as a recipe for security – El Salvador now boasts the highest such rate in the world – but human rights organizations such as Amnesty International believe many of the over 80,000 people jailed under the state of emergency are innocent.
The State Department’s travel advisory for El Salvador also warns that those imprisoned in the country face “harsh” prison conditions, without access to due process.

What Kids Who Bully Often Have In Common
When parents, educators and mental health professionals talk about bullying, there is understandably a lot of emphasis on the victims. But in focusing solely on victims in anti-bullying efforts, an important part of the equation gets forgotten: the kids who do the bullying.
“Bullying is not a one-time event or a random act of mean behavior but rather a pervasive, ongoing pattern of aggression targeted toward another child who in some way has less power in the relationship,” explained school psychologist Rebecca Branstetter, noting that it’s important to distinguish it from other forms of aggressive behavior or typical childhood conflicts.
Obviously every child who bullies comes from different circumstances and has different reasons for this behavior. There is no one profile of a bully, as each child who engages in this conduct has a unique set of challenges. But there are many common traits and experiences among bullies, and examining them can be beneficial.

Amish Brothers Won’t Do Prison Time After Impregnating Their 13-Year-Old Sister
Two Amish brothers have pled guilty to molesting their 13-year-old sister — but none of them will likely be serving prison time.
Aaron Schwartz, 22, and his brother Petie, 18, were arrested in June after being accused of repeatedly raping their underage sister, who was 12 years old when the attacks started, according to the Webster County Citizen, a local newspaper.
Authorities first became aware of the sexual assault when the sister became pregnant by one of the brothers, the County Citizen reports. The brothers were arrested, and Petie and Aaron each allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl six times over the past year, local station KOLR reports. Their two younger brothers, both minors, also allegedly had sex with the sister.
When asked whether he’d do it again, Aaron told investigators, “Not to a little one like that,” according to a probable cause statement obtained by Oxygen.com.

Mexican singer says he was trafficked and abused as a teenager
Luis Armando Campos says singing is his life. At 23, he's already had a very impressive singing career that started when he was just a child in his native Tampico, a port city in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.
"I was about 11, almost 12, when I first appeared on a local TV show in Tampico," Campos said.
In 2014, he was a semi-finalist in "The Voice Mexico." The international reality singing competition franchise took his career to new levels. Even though he didn't win, Campos has since toured Mexico with his music. But what his increasing number of fans didn't know, Campos says, is that while his career was taking off, he was forced to live a double life -- as a sex slave.
