Walking Dead, The (2010 -)
Sometimes it's hard to see past the corn fields. 12-Nov-2018
They gambled 7 minutes too long. The alpha phased out. 05-Nov-2018
The most staggering surprises arise after sobering us for heartbreak. It was poetry. 11-Dec-2017
It ended to satiate the fans, bathed from blood of a cliched and predictable heart plus a curtain close. 03-Apr-2017
This is the 3rd time that Jeffery Dean Morgan has invaded a series at its vertex. I was always waiting for the grand manifestation of the buildup and all we got was a daddy with lots of fuckability, a frozen smirk that unnerves and trite villainy. Do over. 11-Nov-2016
Mature grit. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to interpret as we wish. 09-Nov-2016
Fear the Walking Dead (2015 -)
It almost sank but good actors and some able writing pulled it through. Rocking steady. 01-Oct-2018
You turned inwards for the "big bad" and it was brilliant.
Tip of the hat for how much more beautiful Alicia has become since kickass has been introduced as her attitude.
Ruben Blades has become what Locke was to Lost... "love to hate." 26-Oct-2017
The family dynamic became tighter and the show confronted racial dissension. That history goes around and reparations must be met only added to the chill. Dayton Callie erupted resolutely. 11-Jul-2017
Action trumps character and shock trumps story and I think I'm okay with that. 14-Oct-2016
The writers need to find a way for their words and storylines to dignify these characters so we can comprehend why we are obliged to view them. 21-Sep-2016
It is very difficult to get into this show as quickly as the original because the families are tough to empathize with. As usual, the action pieces continue to be creative and nail biting. The second season allows the kids to take over and they have our attention for now. Frank Dillane thrills as a Johnny Depp clone and Alycia Debnam-Carey has the beauty and the sympathy (though her hair looks too fabulous for the apocalypse.) Lorenzo James Henrie is our new "love to hate." 22-May-2016
Sense8 (2015 -2018)
The sex was terrific.
It pulled from all of us and temporarily created a beautiful landscape and a force. They were our Mod Squad and art inspiration. Credit to the Wachowskis for creating the world we should be living in and for always arousing us with forward action sequences. In another time this might have been our anthem but America doesn't sing anymore. 01-Jul-2018
Its underappreciation may be due to time and how forward the message of power in inclusivity registers. Each 8 represents a struggling community that with aide, strife can be eased and joy enhanced.
The mythology may confuse but when all wicks (acting, action, sex, character development, koolness, heart and beauty) are turned on, its' fireworks. 13-Aug-2017
So fun, delirious and high. It's reaching for somewhere we want to go. Love the intertwining stories and characters. Thanks for the inclusion and the sizzling latino gay. It's a head-punch. 03-Nov-2015
Westworld (2016 -)
A robot can do some miraculous things but only our minds can take it to heaven. Poetic completion. 26-Jun-2018
Well played, well processed and well done. 18-Jun-2018
I spent the last hour surmising the weight and impossible cost of these robots because the show no longer computes. 08-Jun-2018
Thandie still stuns but logic has scattered. Our belief system cannot compute panoramic robot suffering. The closest tech we have to robotics is "Alexa" and she can barely get my name correctly or throw out the garbage. There is no human voice to empathize with. 01-Jun-2018
It all tied like a protrusive golden braid that ignited the players and extinguished all doubts. It was complete, it reinvented its mythology and made it relevant. Every revelation was rational and kick ass. The ladies kill. 15-Dec-2016
It's a Gurlworld and beautiful Thandie rules atop it. 23-Nov-2016
There is plenty for the eye to focus on but clarity is direly needed. I can't tell a robot from a human and I don't understand the waste of having robots enact when there are no humans in evidence. Also, we live in a Big Brother world where everything and everyone is followed and filmed yet they keep losing track of them though their technology is so advanced it can create humanistic automatons. I am only at the halfway point and Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton have my attention but it better add up to something. 14-Nov-2016
Ash vs. Evil Dead (2015 -2018)
It ended big amid slight disappointment. The end fittingly regards what time it now belongs in. 29-Apr-2018
The third episode of the third season was unhinged art. Wisps of "Buffy" greatness rattled in my head. 14-Mar-2018
Some of the fun has filtered out but our love for Scoobies remains. 16-Dec-2016
It is very faithful to its mythology. Raimi still has inventiveness and surprises left in him. He still knows how to shock and generate laughs. Papsmear Campbell has not lost his touch and he makes you appreciate you watch. He is where most of the fun starts. He's also got Scoobies of which Ray Santiago's Pablo supplies much of the heart and adorableness. Last but not least is Lucy Lawless as a badass something. Never hurts. One of my new favorites of the year. A geek's cult reunion gasm. 12-Dec-2015
Titan, The (2018)
Realistic approach to creating a super human. The scares are emotional and resonant. There is something he does in the last shot that I feared from the beginning he would do but its an interesting trip. 12-Apr-2018
Star Wars Rebels (2014 -2018)
It respected the original material, voiced it beautifully and the mythology added a punch to the Star Wars Universe. The geek points sum up "the force" where the films could only preach it. 08-Mar-2018
It delivers on the promise of throwback and mythology aside. You'll still believe. 18-Nov-2015
Cloverfield Paradox, The (2018)
I didn't care for the first, didn't bother with the second but I cruised through the third. Performers are alert, the dialogue stammers but the action pieces grip. 28-Feb-2018
The art direction in key scenes evokes a different time and place but lack in conceiving the world as a whole. If the main player is being tasked with being mute his face must be lit as such that we should read the words from his eyes and the lines on his skin. The story confuses and dulls and it seems criminal to squeeze out the squish from super daddies. 26-Feb-2018
Death Note (2017)
The original animate was a creepy nightmare that embedded itself on your skin.
The movie slaps blonde paint on a grown-up with "smarty" face and vends him a teenage protagonist. He is not the only misguided choice but since we have to spend the most time with him we can't commiserate with his plight. I cheered against him.
Life asserts itself in Dafoe's "Ryuk" and impudent death scenes. 29-Nov-2017
Stranger Things (2016 -)
#2 gratified every sense with throb and tenderness. 29-Nov-2017
There can't be much to disconcert when with every dedication and homage you are dealt original cards with likeable imprinted players and a perplexing with soul reflexing game.
Wynona is unwavering in motherhood vs sanity as David Harbour is papa Bear strength. The kids are inherent, funny and affecting. Millie Bobbi Brown is tasked with conveyance of eye speak and she handles it beautifully.
Success is achieved through inspiration not impersonation. 29-Aug-2016
Marvel: Inhumans (2017-)
It isn't a perfect rendition of the Inhumans the comics celebrated but the targets they hit are respected. It's not an easy world to create or to succumb to with little or no familiarity.
The things they get right include, the hair, the dog, Gorgon and Black Bolt's face. The ladies need to learn to kick harder and the presentation doesn't need to be a superhero marching band.
It's cheese and I will gobble it because it's not necessarily bad for you. 20-Oct-2017
Little Evil (2017)
All the players are onboard to skewer the horror franchise and play homage to it. It works seamlessly and surprisingly. The kid creeps in adequate doses and the legends, like Sally Field, seem to enjoy getting their funny back on. 06-Sep-2017
Mist, The (2017-)
The mythology of the film has been dissected, perused and respectfully extended. The pages of a Stephen King novel, as we might imagine them, are represented, especially as it ties all the personal tidbits to the horror.
When Francis Conroy's Nathalie upraises and walks out naked into the mist, we are witness to the glorious aspect of feminine strength and an actor's aptitude.
I was a little discomforted that the gays and some minorities were credited with evil but it seems unfair to only be represented as pious.
The series was wicked, addictive and persistent. 27-Aug-2017
IZombie (2015 -)
Not a stellar season because they forgot that mythology trumps "case of the week." The only constant is that the characters are still funny and very squishy. 21-Jul-2017
The finale is what mythologies in these kind of shows are made of. Every episode we watched earlier was referenced for a very climactic ending and tied all the bows together. I am very proud. It was Buffylicious. 16-May-2016
Goes down light, easy and sweet. 21-Oct-2015
