Ozzie and Harriet (1952- 1966)
S1-8. There were no constant reruns of this classic for me to add it to my American history library but I heard it was corny and wholesome as fuck. Its claim to fame was family hierarchy, whining, beauty and pimping. As the parents' talents/fame wavered the prettiest twinks on television began to ascend. Rick was the teenage dream with dead eyes impersonating a musical talent. David's personality was pleasantly approachable and glistening. Ozzie was a grumpy Seinfeld who worried about everything and complained about nothing that mattered. In the beginning Ozzie had a buddy named Thorny. He lived next door but they never showed his family. I wouldn't want to be associated with that name either. Harriet's hair rarely moved but she had impeccable taste and versatility. She performed her chores like she lived them. She conveyed dismay with sarcasm, was not lovey dovey and enjoyed watching her husband suffer. The cast changes were inevitable and sometimes fun. It was nostalgic seeing some of Lucy's posse rippling for someone else. It's run lasted way longer because of the the adoration that horny teens lavished on pretty Ricky. He was on top of the world with daddy grasping the strings. 10-Oct-2023
If you preach and back it up with great talent, you supersede. 30-Jun-2021
Gorgeous ladies...and men, musical zest, smashing show and a hopeful ending. It broke it and healed it...the heart. 28-Aug-2019
"The Man That Got Away." Judy defined it and Billy spelled it out. 25-Aug-2019
It gave us a vogue teaser, it made gold edible and the love story was sexy. 23-Aug-2019
Ryan's episode didn't hand me an enigmatic vogue but it gave me beauty of soul. 23-Aug-2019
Do I have to vogue to earn a gay family like this or is that sentiment stuck in the past? The show retains its high sheen fabulosity but ballroom direction needs to stress its entertainment notch in order to fly closer to Billy Porter's coordination. 21-Jul-2019
The release was due to its faithful history and devotedly charged performances. 10-Jul-2018
Every week it grows in beauty and endearment. One more moon and Papa Murph makes me blow.
Christopher Meloni is now inducted into Daddy Squish Hall of Fame. 03-Jul-2018
It's about family. 27-Jun-2018
Ryan is tapping into the artistic awakening of its raw talent. Learning as they go. 24-Jun-2018
The seed has been planted but in order for it to grow it needs to escalate the celebration. 23-Jun-2018
Tiny Pretty Things (2020-)
S1E10. I had the anal inclination to re-edit the dance sequences but that's none of my business. The beats of bitchiness were right on point. 25-Dec-2020
S1E8. Wet dream. I want Ramon to ravage Oren. 23-Dec-2020
We are more diverse, more insightful and sexually inclusive. Why the hate? They are empathetic and compassionate for an episode and distrusting for the next. Everyone is out for themselves and only housesitting relationships. If it didn't seem like reflection, I'd question it harder. Still hot. 20-Dec-2020
S1E1. I was thrilled by the opening but it went off-key. I am invested in the bandit but I am intrigued by the suspects. They are comprehensible messes whose extreme choice of sport labels them aggressive super achievers. They thrive, compete and celebrate because of pain. Ballet is a cruel career choice and the series doesn't dilute it. It has bits for everyone. LGBTQ lives are lived without the need of gay preachers to explain it. It's sexy, provocative, enticing, dance crushing and trashy. Don't fuck it up. 17-Dec-2020
One Day at a Time (2017-)
I will always have affection for these people but I truly hope they find that thing this season lost. 04-May-2020
S4E3. E1 and E2 had me worried. It was loud and high strung in celebration of a second chance, feeling like a parody of itself. Episode 3 brought masturbation realness and hilarity, peak character delight and mama diva (Moreno) steal moments. The hardest I've laughed all year. 10-Apr-2020
All about relationships. Gracias. 03-Mar-2019
Motivating argument about the rules modern life coerces. Proficiently displayed, adoringly regarded and stamping the sitcom with the purpose TV forgot. 13-Feb-2019
Justina Machado is excellent and Rita Moreno embodies everything we miss about a Golden Girl. They've added superior daddy squish and the support is amiable reinforcement. Cheers. 01-Mar-2018
At first glance, you are inclined to think that this is an exploitation of a classic and respected series with token latino stereotypes. By the fourth episode you realize that it chose this community to depict because it needs updating the most and it feeds right into the original's claim. It's hard raising a latin family when the men are scarce and the women try to empower themselves at the cost of tradition. There are times you will be transported to all those arguments Lear presented between classic characters, fair to each but being persistent that the last word goes to the changing present. Justina Machado plays Penelope Alvarez with the same amount as distraught, parental overprotection and survivor's challenge that Bonnie Franklin's Ann Romano did. Rita Moreno's accent is old fashioned pastiche but she is a full character, beloved and is having a helluva time making us laugh. The kids aspire for realness instead of cute and Schneider is cute without the creep. 30-Jan-2017
RuPaul's Drag Race Holi-Slay Spectacular (2018)
More joyous had they rang one more bell. 10-Dec-2018
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (2012 -2018)
In a season where Ru gave the all-stars every opportunity to strut, they repaid the legend by teetering. Shangela's hilarious lip synch catapulted the show to greatness and the girls finally gave us some soul searching but the next group needs to singe to continue mama's legacy.
The ladies seem in dire need of art inspiration. SNL history has a roster of the most empowering females to celebrate and emulate. Just the thought of them and the characters they slayed should elicit a laugh. 10-Mar-2018
The battle was worth saluting. 24-Jun-2017
Snatch Game is allowing us to ponder. Do the girls not emulate our current divas because there is no access or because such legends are not calling out to them? That's not fun. Our divas need to cause more of a ruckus. 29-Apr-2017
My original review has been changed to reflect that in fun you can disrespect a group and commit error with one unfortunate word. 29-Mar-2017
Reunion. Thank you. 03-Nov-2016
I was a little dismayed how little spectacle and celebration was involved in crowning this year's All-Star. It seemed rushed and gagged of money. Couldn't a club donate their space to the great Ru-Paul and allow her ladies to shine in the atmosphere that bore them? The lift to either cause wouldn't hurt and it would delight us. 14-Oct-2016
Congratulations Ru, you are still Queen of your domain. I met you once as you towered on a float in a NY Pride Parade. My buddy and I followed your float to the tip end of Christoper Street before a turn to disembark and traffic halted and locked you in place. You blessed everyone with a most rousing lip synch and array of dance work. During the storm you created you acknowledged and waved and I welcomed the rain that created a rainbow for the rest of my pride fest. You defined a moment that was never topped. Class act.
The reason this show excels when other realities mimic is because the show and the pretense is in their drag. Drag is in the background of every gay man whether you care to acknowledge it or not. Every contour, shading and hardware is depicting the hardships and the joys our lifestyle can drop. They enact it in exaggeration and a softer guise so the hurt doesn't cut so deep and the joy is longstanding. After much schooling and thought, I respectfully acknowledge that they are more than an accessory, they shine brighter, work harder and fight butchier.
All-stars entertainment value is never in question because even when things are not progressing how we'd prefer you don't stop brandishing or humanizing yourselves.
I was gunning for Alyssa to win because of her insuppressible showmanship, vulnerable heartbreak and cuntilicious coating. Whoever wins the crown, Alyssa can be assured that she won something more palpable, our hearts.
If Ru wanted to create a gasm she'd bring back all her girls and eliminate them one by one along the time allotted as she would have seen fit. Just curious to know what her choices would have been. 07-Oct-2016
Hairspray Live! (2016)
It's messy and awkward and I'm not sure how live it was but halfway thru the production cinches it's purpose as the players' hard work is lauded and the politics become on point. The investment pays off because the show never breaks from trying to delight and educate. 12-Dec-2016
Galavant (2015 - 2016)
Inclusiveness is applauded. The show's silliness is redeemed when it turns the sides of my lips up and tickles. 05-Feb-2016
Here's Lucy (1968 - 1974)
The hardest working comedian on TV. The show changes and mixes so many times that its hard to pinpoint what its really about but you'll be damned if you don't admire Ball's resilience to perform and entertain us. The last season does settle into a format, mainly because Lucy is too tired but that's when her real talent shines - acting. You realize she didn't need to do somersaults for us to like her...we just did. 18-Jan-2016
Teen Beach 2 (2015)
They keep the homage genial and credible. As the title promises, zippy, silly high energy Twinkie delight. 07-Dec-2015
Wiz Live!, The (2015)
It's off to the races with Stephanie Mills but Shanice Williams did look like she rode way too many motorcycles for half her life as Dorothy. There was a lack of practice, flair and refinement. The glitches consisted of miscasting, ear pieces for obstructing genuine delivery, and hitting the wrong notes. It's a shame, I was gunning for this one. 04-Dec-2015
