Good Place, The (2016-)
It moved forwards predictably, simplifying life without ever defining it. 30-Sep-2018
It coasts on adorability (Ted Danson and Jason Mendoza) but the writers have a knack for erasing the outline and having them/us recommence. They also pat themselves on the back by having an asian represented as inane but I find that limits the actor and society will think they're all stupid. You couldn't find a medium that doesn't propel an insult? 12-Feb-2018
Package, The (2018)
For a period of time it swells with adorkability and raunch. Once the premise is established a pump is necessary to keep it puffed up. It dies in the hand. 23-Aug-2018
Good Witch, The (2008)
It calms the savage soul. 07-Aug-2018
Grace & Frankie (2015 -)
The characters were allowed to age in disgrace and we felt for them. 11-Jul-2018
Jane steps up to Lilly's pedestal and the gay daddies are finally getting storylines worthy of their aptitude and our senior representation. The adorableness takes away some of the fear of getting older and the girls supply a comfortable environment to bask in. 16-Jun-2017
We can totally do without the stereotypical husbands. All we need is Fonda and Tomlin and a phone book. The only thing that can make it better is Dolly. Legends. 31-Dec-2015
...because Tabitha (Erin Murphy) was an adorable moppet
...because Aunt Clara (Marion Lorne) was squishier than my dog
...because Dick York (Darrin) was such the professional that we never noticed the pain he was in 26-Jun-2018
...because Samantha stood for every unappreciated group that the child in me could figure out
...because it can't be sexist if its a "happy couple"
...because even when the fx failed them they never deferred from perfection... because for every three they missed they got one so perfectly right
...because Paul Lynde was a great gay uncle when they weren't allowed to socially exist
...because ever since this show capitalized on what magic should be we have been pretending that magic doesn't exist (except in realistic boring conjuring ways)
...because Gladys Kravitz (Alice Pearce) and the artist who created her epitomized the nosy neighbor until she became understood
...because Endora (Agnes Moorehead) is the lesbian Drag mother-in-law we deserve
...because Elizabeth Montgomery can kick Harry Potter's ass with just one twitch. 21-Jun-2018
Simulated prep of a one night stand with cameras, awkwardness and stalling tactics. Everything is squishier laying down. 19-Jun-2018
Alex Strangelove (2018)
It's "the" gay teen romp of our time. Its balls are huge, the introspections are clear and the voices are true. It feels like home because it doesn't pander to us and its funny. 14-Jun-2018
Honeymoon Stand-up Special (2018)
Natasha Leggero & Moshe Kasher
The expectant newlyweds have not been deterred from splattering the audience with irascible wit. Mommy hits harder because she allows her appeal to sneak through but daddy accompanies her well. 08-Jun-2018
Trading Spaces (2018-)
The nostalgia trip is pleasant and decent but I don't know if subsidizing craft for comfort is viable unless you're poor. 30-May-2018
Ash vs. Evil Dead (2015 -2018)
It ended big amid slight disappointment. The end fittingly regards what time it now belongs in. 29-Apr-2018
The third episode of the third season was unhinged art. Wisps of "Buffy" greatness rattled in my head. 14-Mar-2018
Some of the fun has filtered out but our love for Scoobies remains. 16-Dec-2016
It is very faithful to its mythology. Raimi still has inventiveness and surprises left in him. He still knows how to shock and generate laughs. Papsmear Campbell has not lost his touch and he makes you appreciate you watch. He is where most of the fun starts. He's also got Scoobies of which Ray Santiago's Pablo supplies much of the heart and adorableness. Last but not least is Lucy Lawless as a badass something. Never hurts. One of my new favorites of the year. A geek's cult reunion gasm. 12-Dec-2015
It didn't tap into Indian heritage and it doesn't represent anyone resembling human. I'm leaving before saying something horribly insulting. 23-Apr-2018
"They" should be embarrassed. My foot is itching for the door. 16-Mar-2018
I am embarrassed. For at least half of the first episode, I thought the brothers were a gay couple. My lover woke me to it and I had to scour my perception. I still think everyone was competing for wit. Even I can't maintain that level of one liners for longer than ten minutes without checking into some sort of rehab. I'll watch for J.J. Totah. His attitude is made for quips and he's tearing up his representation. The adults need to find a balance of accompaniment and harmonization. Please don't suck. 14-Mar-2018
Good Witch (2015-)
She's more like an instinctual psychic but its a safe haven to visit if you like to pretend that the world is inviolable and matured. The worst it can do is make you feel bad for not being good. What's wrong with that? 16-Apr-2018
RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (2012 -2018)
In a season where Ru gave the all-stars every opportunity to strut, they repaid the legend by teetering. Shangela's hilarious lip synch catapulted the show to greatness and the girls finally gave us some soul searching but the next group needs to singe to continue mama's legacy.
The ladies seem in dire need of art inspiration. SNL history has a roster of the most empowering females to celebrate and emulate. Just the thought of them and the characters they slayed should elicit a laugh. 10-Mar-2018
The battle was worth saluting. 24-Jun-2017
Snatch Game is allowing us to ponder. Do the girls not emulate our current divas because there is no access or because such legends are not calling out to them? That's not fun. Our divas need to cause more of a ruckus. 29-Apr-2017
My original review has been changed to reflect that in fun you can disrespect a group and commit error with one unfortunate word. 29-Mar-2017
Reunion. Thank you. 03-Nov-2016
I was a little dismayed how little spectacle and celebration was involved in crowning this year's All-Star. It seemed rushed and gagged of money. Couldn't a club donate their space to the great Ru-Paul and allow her ladies to shine in the atmosphere that bore them? The lift to either cause wouldn't hurt and it would delight us. 14-Oct-2016
Congratulations Ru, you are still Queen of your domain. I met you once as you towered on a float in a NY Pride Parade. My buddy and I followed your float to the tip end of Christoper Street before a turn to disembark and traffic halted and locked you in place. You blessed everyone with a most rousing lip synch and array of dance work. During the storm you created you acknowledged and waved and I welcomed the rain that created a rainbow for the rest of my pride fest. You defined a moment that was never topped. Class act.
The reason this show excels when other realities mimic is because the show and the pretense is in their drag. Drag is in the background of every gay man whether you care to acknowledge it or not. Every contour, shading and hardware is depicting the hardships and the joys our lifestyle can drop. They enact it in exaggeration and a softer guise so the hurt doesn't cut so deep and the joy is longstanding. After much schooling and thought, I respectfully acknowledge that they are more than an accessory, they shine brighter, work harder and fight butchier.
All-stars entertainment value is never in question because even when things are not progressing how we'd prefer you don't stop brandishing or humanizing yourselves.
I was gunning for Alyssa to win because of her insuppressible showmanship, vulnerable heartbreak and cuntilicious coating. Whoever wins the crown, Alyssa can be assured that she won something more palpable, our hearts.
If Ru wanted to create a gasm she'd bring back all her girls and eliminate them one by one along the time allotted as she would have seen fit. Just curious to know what her choices would have been. 07-Oct-2016
Star Wars Rebels (2014 -2018)
It respected the original material, voiced it beautifully and the mythology added a punch to the Star Wars Universe. The geek points sum up "the force" where the films could only preach it. 08-Mar-2018
It delivers on the promise of throwback and mythology aside. You'll still believe. 18-Nov-2015
One Day at a Time (2017 -)
Justina Machado is excellent and Rita Moreno embodies everything we miss about a Golden Girl. They've added superior daddy squish and the support is amiable reinforcement. Cheers. 01-Mar-2018
At first glance, you are inclined to think that this is an exploitation of a classic and respected series with token latino stereotypes. By the fourth episode you realize that it chose this community to depict because it needs updating the most and it feeds right into the original's claim. It's hard raising a latin family when the men are scarce and the women try to empower themselves at the cost of tradition. There are times you will be transported to all those arguments Lear presented between classic characters, fair to each but being persistent that the last word goes to the changing present. Justina Machado plays Penelope Alvarez with the same amount as distraught, parental overprotection and survivor's challenge that Bonnie Franklin's Ann Romano did. Rita Moreno's accent is old fashioned pastiche but she is a full character, beloved and is having a helluva time making us laugh. The kids aspire for realness instead of cute and Schneider is cute without the creep. 30-Jan-2017
