The Next Time You Crave Chicken, Remember That Chick-fil-A Is Still Very Much Anti-Gay

In September 2012, after years of publicly opposing same-sex marriage and donating millions to anti-LGBTQ groups, Chick-fil-A — the Christian-founded fast-food chain known for their chicken sandwiches and billboards of half-literate cows encouraging folks to “EAT MOR CHIKIN” — said that it had “ceased donating to organizations that promote discrimination, specifically against LGBT civil rights.”

According to ThinkProgress, the Chick-fil-A Foundation’s most recent IRS filings from 2015 reveal hundreds of thousands in donations to anti-LGBTQ groups. They gave $1 million to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a religious organization with “a strict ‘sexual purity’ policy, prohibiting any ‘homosexual acts.'”

They also donated $200,000 to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, a Georgia-based group that runs a “Christian residential home for troubled youth.” The organization believes that the “sexual, physical and mental abuse of children” resulted in “the explosion of homosexuality in the last century.”

Tennessee store puts “no gays allowed” sign back up after Supreme Court’s wedding cake ruling

A Tennessee hardware store owner is celebrating the Supreme Court's ruling in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to bake a wedding cake for a same-sex couple by posting a "no gays allowed" sign in front of his business.

Jeff Amyx, who owns Amyx Hardware & Roofing Supplies in Grainger County, Tennessee, initially put up the sign in 2015 after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage but later removed it following public backlash.

But the "no gays allowed" sign returned this week after the recent Supreme Court's decision, WBIR reports.

People are threatening to boycott Starbucks over its holiday cup's 'gay agenda' — but the controversy was invented by the media (SBUX)

People are freaking out over a Starbucks boycott that has essentially been invented by the media.

Last week, BuzzFeed News published an article with the headline "Is Starbucks' New Holiday Cup Totally Gay?"

The article was based on an ad campaign that came out in late October and featured what appears to be one lesbian couple — among other couples — and fewer than 10 tweets, most of them extremely tongue-in-cheek. Last week, Business Insider could only find a single tweet —with zero likes and retweets — that expressed negative sentiments about what BuzzFeed News called the holiday cup's "gay agenda."

French firm under fire for spyware it claims can tell parents if their sons are GAY by searching for 'clues' in their computer and Facebook usage

A French company has come under fire after advertising that its spyware can 'find out if your son is gay.'

Fireworld - which creates 'invisible PC spy software' - posted an article suggesting parents could use its technology to hack their son's Facebook accounts to look for 'clues' to confirm suspicions about their children's sexuality.

The article has since been taken down, but not before it was spotted by a French LGBTQ rights group which is now speaking out against the firm, along with internet commenters and even politicians.

Gays can be ‘cured,’ no gay marriage, no abortion: Hollywood hotel honcho outrages protesters

Several dozen opponents of a hotel project approved by the Los Angeles City Council Wednesday protested in the City Hall rotunda after the vote, angered by what they said was the developer’s support of an anti-LGBT group and shortcuts taken in getting the project approved.

The City Council approved the 21-story hotel with a 12-0 vote, clearing the way for it to be built near the corner of Sunset Boulevard and Ivar Avenue in Hollywood where a Jack in the Box restaurant now sits.

Opponents of the project have been led by Unite Here Local 11, a union representing 23,000 hotel, airport and food service workers.

The developer of the project, RD Olson, and its president, Bill Wilhelm, have been criticized by Unite Here Local 11 due to Wilhelm’s former membership in Legatus, a Catholic business leader networking group.

Legatus is opposed to same-sex marriage and abortion and in favor of “conversion therapy” aimed at “curing” people of homosexual desires.

'No gays and no pets': Gay couple refused entry at guest house in Italy

A gay couple from Naples, Italy, has been denied entry at a guest house in the southern region of Calabria because of their sexual orientation. The couple had booked a bed and breakfast in Santa Maria, a coastal village in the Vibo Valentia province.

However, when they contacted the owner for further information on the facility, they were told that the guest house accepted neither pets nor homosexuals.

Could This Ancient Porn Change The Way We Think About Christianity And Homosexuality?

There are six passages in the Bible that refer to same-sex behavior in some way. These verses are often referred by progressive Christians as “clobber passages” because they are repeatedly used to reject, demean, and attack queer Christians.

Three of these passages are located in the New Testament, in the books of Romans, 1 Corinthians, and 1 Timothy. Another passage that conservative Christians sometimes refer to is Matthew 19, where Jesus speaks about divorce. It’s these verses that Chalke turns to in his defense of queer Christianity.

The minister claims it was normal and even expected for Roman men to have sexual playthings apart from their wives. This meant having sex with concubines and young boys. Some Roman women also used people of lower status for their own sexual pleasure, Chalke said. But one thing Romans couldn’t do was abuse another Roman citizen.

“Roman boys were protected in a way that slave boys weren’t. For a Roman man, sex was a legitimate part of life, but you had to have sex with an inferior and you had to penetrate them, you weren’t allowed to be penetrated,” Chalke said in his talk.

Carolyn Hax: Christian best friend asks lesbian couple to ‘chill with the PDA’
I’m angry and shocked — I’ve been so careful around her. I have to hide around family. Do I have to hide around her too?

DEAR CAROLYN: I have known “Sarah” for half my life. We are now in our late 20s. I came out to her as a lesbian two years ago and am currently dating someone.

Sarah is a conservative Christian, so I have made sure to be careful around her regarding our public displays of affection. I basically told my girlfriend we should act the same around Sarah as we would around family. The occasional kiss on the cheek or hand-holding, nothing more.

Recently, my girlfriend and I asked Sarah out to dinner. She initially replied maybe, then about an hour later told us she would come if we “chilled with the PDA,” and added, “I would ask the same if your girlfriend was a man.”

I am angry. I have been very careful around her, and was shocked at her request. I don’t really know what to do. My family is unsupportive so I hide a significant amount of my life already — they know but refuse to talk about it — and I don’t want to have to hide around my best friend. Any advice on how to proceed?

The World’s Largest LGBTQ Travel Network Is Endorsing Trump Hotels and People Are Pissed

LGBTQ activists and businesses have expressed outrage over the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association’s recent listing of three Trump hotels among its “successful businesses supporting LGBTQ tourism.” Trump, his administration and political party have all helped roll back LGBTQ rights nationwide, making the Trump hotels’ inclusion in IGLTA’s ranks seem wrong-headed and tone deaf.

We asked the IGLTA why they included the hotels and also asked a gay travel writer, a longtime LGBTQ travel industry professional and a tourist business owner their thoughts.

Bonkers call to boycott Raspberry Pi Foundation over 'gay agenda'
This week, in crappy online petition land...

Few could argue with what the Raspberry Pi has achieved. As well as inspiring countless youngsters into computing, the tiny affordable gadget is beloved by amateur and professional techies alike.

Yet a completely batshit crazy petition, even by change.org standards, begs to differ. One "NoRottenPi" is calling for a boycott of the charity on the grounds it apparently promotes "a gay agenda". The issue appears to be a small rainbow featured on the website.

"I do not believe it is appropriate to use an educational product as a vehicle to promote Gay, Lesbian, and transgender causes to our children," shrieks the call to arms.

Not only that, but apparently the foundation is "opposing anything that supports a hetrosexual [sic] lifestyle".

It continues: "They want to tell your children it is 'ok to be gay' even if you as a parent work diligently and carefully to put your child on a hetrosexual path.

Guys reveal the craziest things they’ve done to stay in the closet

A new Reddit thread asks users: What is the most ridiculous thing you’ve done to conceal that you are gay? And the responses vary from funny to sad to downright ridiculous.

“Married a woman,” one person writes.

“Same,” someone else replies, “but now I have two kids who I would never give up for anything… so, I’m conflicted. My ex has an awesome boyfriend (so do I), and we all get along together. It’s worked out great, but I wouldn’t recommend it.”

“I would erase the gay porn search history and then leave some fake traces of straight porn search result on the family computer,” another person says.

Teacher accused of racist, sexist classroom talk can get license back in 2 years

A Mercer County middle school social studies teacher who resigned after making repeated racist and homophobic comments as well as testing positive for drugs was ordered last week to surrender his teaching certificate for two years.

The state board of examiners upheld the suspension of Joseph T. Mahon's credentials June 15 after he failed to show up at an hearing in January, it said in a decision published by the Department of Education.

Mahon resigned in December 2014 in exchange for the Hamilton school district dropping tenure charges against him.

"During his classroom lessons in the presence of students, Mahon: repeatedly made inappropriate and derogatory and racial comments regarding people of Jewish, Indian, African, African-American, Middle Eastern and Asian origin," the ruling found.
