'I had to take off my $800 sneakers and cut my own grass': Mass labor shortage in the exclusive Hamptons leaves the rich to cut their own lawns, do their own laundry and even paint their own nails

The pampered residents have been mocked online as mass labor shortages forces them to do the unthinkable; mow their own lawns and do their own nails.

I had to buy a lawn mower and cut my own lawn. I wanted flowers planted behind the pool,' one resident posted on the neighborhood app Nextdoor. 'The landscaper didn't show up. I had to do it myself,'

The same person added that their brother had to teach them how to use 'the thing that trims the weeds.'

'Yesterday, I finally did that. I had to take my $800 sneakers off first, but it was actually satisfying,' the resident added.

'Omg not their lawns!! Should we start a gofundme? Maybe send an edible arrangement?' one person wrote on Twitter.

Video shows married gay couple facing down deluge of anti-gay, anti-Asian slurs

Neighbors say they've never heard anything like it anywhere. Vile anti-gay slurs caught on a Ring camera hurled at a gay couple in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Anti-Asian slurs too. All in a long-simmering dispute over a back alley parking space.

The white couple caught on tape insist they're not anti-gay or anti-Asian, but
the language is pretty rough.

American 'mercenary' and former head of security at Canadian Embassy arrested over assassination of Haiti president Jovenel Moïse as five other 'hitmen' are picked up by police and four are shot dead

An American 'mercenary' and former head of security at the Canadian Embassy in Haiti is among the six 'assassins' who have been arrested over the murder of President Jovenel Moïse, according to a government official.

James Solages, a US citizen of Haitian descent and president of a local charity, was taken into custody over Wednesday's early morning raid on Moïse's mansion in the hills above Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Haiti's Minister of Elections and Inter-party Relations Mathias Pierre told the Associated Press.

Solages is the 35-year-old president of the board of directors of Jacmel First, a charity founded in south Florida in 2019 which is focused on ending childhood hunger in Haiti.

Chip and Joanna Gaines Finally Break Silence on Racism and Anti-Gay Claims Against Them

Over the course of the years, many fans noticed that the show has never featured an LGBTQ couple in the series. It was odder when it was reported that the church the Gaineses attend has a pastor that is against same-sex marriage. Joanna recently shut down claims that she is anti-gay and racist.

“Sometimes I’m like, ‘Can I just make a statement?’” the interior designer told THR who noted that she teared up. “The accusations that get thrown at you, like you’re a racist or you don’t like people in the LGBTQ community, that’s the stuff that really eats my lunch — because it’s so far from who we really are. That’s the stuff that keeps me up.”

“As an American white male, it’s hard to be perfectly diverse,” Chip added. “In our own company, we’ve got nearly 700 employees, and one of our biggest passions is making this group represent all people.”

Where’s Guy Fieri’s Sympathy for Restaurant Workers?

During the interview, Fieri rightly chastises legislators for giving massive handouts to airlines and other big industries while the Restaurant Revitalization Fund keeps running out of money. “How about everybody that’s in legislation that loves to go to restaurants?,” he asks. “How about you just ask your local restaurant what you could do to help them stay afloat?” He also specifies that, though he brought up Bezos’s failures in the past, he’s “not into shaming people.” He just wants to save restaurants.

But what about the people who make them possible? Fieri seems taken with the idea that workers aren’t coming back because they’re too cozy enjoying federal unemployment benefits, comparing their reluctance to return — driven by concerns over low wages, a lack of child care and sick leave, and there still being a risk of contracting COVID, particularly as the Delta variant spreads throughout the country — to a child refusing a healthy dinner after snacking on junk food all day: “Why would you go and eat broccoli if you just got to eat Doritos?,” says the man who built his empire on serving burgers topped with mac and cheese and fried cheese steak spring rolls.

Video shows woman beating McDonald's employees allegedly over refusal to mix slushie flavors

An Ohio woman went berserk on a pair of McDonald's employees earlier this week in an incident that was caught on video.

Police say the alleged perpetrator, 44-year-old Cherysse Cleveland, was apparently angry because the workers denied her request to mix slushie flavors together. She is seen physically attacking the employees multiple times in a clip taken by a witness.

‘The last straw’: the US families ending love affair with grocery chain after Capitol riot

Wendy Mize’s family grew up on Publix, disciples to the giant supermarket chain’s empirical marketing slogan: “Where shopping is a pleasure”. As infants, her three daughters wore diapers bought from the Publix baby club. As children, they munched on free cookies from the bakery. There were even perks for the family’s pets, who are proud members of Publix Paws.

But now the decades-long love affair is over. After a member of Publix’s founding family donated $300,000 to the Donald Trump rally that preceded January’s deadly Capitol riots, Mize is pulling out of what she says has become “an abusive, dysfunctional relationship”, and joining others in a boycott of the Florida-based grocery chain that operates more than 1,200 stores across seven south-eastern states.

College Quarterback Issues Public Apology for Eating Sushi Off of Nude Model on Below Deck

A college quarterback who appeared on the Bravo reality show, Below Deck, has apologized after he was filmed eating food off of a nude model while onboard a yacht earlier this year.

“I would like to apologize for my poor judgment while on the TV show Below Deck and acknowledge that I have made a mistake that I will learn from,” the Thousand Oaks, California, native tweeted. “While it was not my idea nor any of my friends’ ideas to eat sushi off of a model, I should have exercised better judgment and declined the idea immediately when it was brought up by the producers."

China Is Demanding An Apology From The ABC Over 'Racist' TV Show

The episode in question focuses on the story of ancient Chinese Empress Wu Zetian, the only woman to ever rule China.

However, an article by China's state-controlled Global Times claims the episode had drawn outrage and condemnation from Chinese-Australians for its 'controversial content suggesting insects, rats and hair are used in normal Chinese recipes, which they believe is racism and demand for an apology.'

The article continued "In an episode of the series, ancient China Empress Wu Zetian, who is played by a white actress, is eating insects, rats, jellyfish and hair, and invites two modern visitors, the program's hosts, to join the meal."

"As the visitors act disgusted, 'Wu' explained it was 'perfectly normal' to eat insects in China in the Tang Dynasty (618-907)."

Keke Palmer Is Facing Major Backlash After Tweeting That Food Stamps Should "Only Work On Healthy Items"

EBT, also known as food stamps or SNAP, is a government-run program that gives individuals with low incomes a small budget every month to buy groceries. And the idea that the government should control what EBT recipients are allowed to buy is a talking point often made by conservatives who would like to see the program either reduced or cut entirely. (Trump, for example, has proposed getting rid of EBT and replacing it with preset boxes of food, in which the recipient has no choice in what they get.)

Suffice to say, Keke was ratioed pretty hard on Twitter for her suggestion — generating a lot more comments than likes.

Video shows mob of women attacking 17-year-old Chili's hostess allegedly over social distancing guidelines

A 17-year-old Chili's hostess says she was attacked by a group of women who were allegedly angered by the restaurant's social distancing policies, and the incident was captured on a cellphone video.

Kelsy Wallace, a straight-A high school student, told WBRZ-TV that the women grew upset when they were told that they could not sit at the same table.

"My general manager and my other managers tell us we cannot sit a table bigger than six because of the corona. We are supposed to separate them," said Wallace.

"And they got upset, so the first thing I did was go get my manager," she explained.

One in four LGBT+ Americans faced hunger even before coronavirus

More than one in four LGBT+ Americans could not afford to buy enough food to eat during the past year.

Women, people of color, young adults, and those with low incomes have particularly high rates of food insecurity.

That’s according to a new report by the respected Williams Institute.

Moreover, the figures are based on data from before the coronavirus pandemic hit. Since then the number of unemployed people in the US has soared to 33 million or 20.6% – the highest level since 1934.

Bianca DM Wilson, is senior scholar of public policy at the Williams Institute and the report’s lead author. She said:

‘Before the pandemic, hunger was a persistent problem for one in four LGBT adults. COVID-19 and the resulting economic downturn are likely to have a major impact on this population.’
