Do gay men have a particular problem with getting older?
Are gay men particularly terrified of getting older?
None of us wants to get older and we’d all like to stop the clock if we could. But I’m beginning to wonder if gay men in particular struggle with ageing.
Now in my late 40s, I think my mental health is pretty good most of the time. For that I’m grateful. But when I look around, I see too many of my peers battling to cope. Struggling to the point of suicide.
Again, this isn’t just a gay problem. Despite the privilege we enjoy, men are disproportionately likely to die from suicide than women by a ratio of around 3 to 1. Some associate this with issues around masculinity: not talking about one’s feelings, and being too afraid or embarrassed to ask for help.
Combine toxic masculinity with homophobia (both internal and external), and it’s little surprise that gay men suffer from additional mental health challenges.
But this still doesn’t explain why I’m seeing so many gay men in their 40s and 50s in distress

A sadistic killer who was caught on camera torturing a man after gaining entry to his west London home for gay sex has been jailed for at least 39 years. Jason Marshall, 29, listened to Classic FM as he bound and gagged Peter Fasoli before wrapping clingfilm around the 58-year-old victim's face.
He posed as an MI5 agent and a police officer after meeting Fasoli on a gay dating app. Marshall then set fire to the property in Northolt in an attempt to cover up the murder, the Old Bailey heard.

“I gave so much love in my life and I just can’t understand how a person can be left all alone,” O’Connor said in the 12-minute video posted Thursday.

Witness says Penn State's Sandusky molested him in 2001
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (Reuters) - A 29-year-old man told a Pennsylvania court on Friday that Jerry Sandusky molested him as a boy in 2001, even though he admitted he had denied that the former Penn State football coach abused him during the investigation of the scandal.
The surprise testimony by Allan Myers came during a hearing into Sandusky's bid for a retrial on charges that he had molested 10 boys under his care over the years. His 2012 conviction resulted in his imprisonment for up to 30 years.
In 2012, prosecutors decided against calling Myers as a witness in the trial, deeming him to be unreliable. Sandusky's lawyer called Myers to testify in Friday's hearing even though the lawyer was not sure what Myers would say once he got to the stand.
Myers on Friday confirmed that he was the long-unidentified boy who was seen with the ex-coach in a Penn State shower room. But he never specifically said that Sandusky had molested him during that shower, as a witness at the ex-coach's trial testified.
Sandusky's bid for a new trial has revived a scandal that severely damaged the reputation of Pennsylvania State University and the vaunted football program run by the legendary head coach Joe Paterno, who has since died.
Myers offered little reason for changing his story beyond what he said was his confusion when he learned that investigators believed he was the boy seen in the shower. He said he needed to "sort things out" at the time.

John Travolta: Caught Kissing Another Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do we have another John Travolta gay scandal on our hands?
Simply put: No.
But it's worth explaining why some people are under this impression.
Travolta was recently in Butler County, Ohio to shoot scenes from the movie The Life and Death of John Gotti.
At some point, he decided to drop the office of Sheriff Richard K. Jones, posing with the law enforcement official for a photo that went semi-viral on Twitter.
Because Travolta is shaking hands with Jones? Not exactly.
It's because Jones captioned the image as follows:
"Unexpected visit, unexpected kiss.. Awesome meeting Mr. John Travolta!!"

Bryan Cranston Apologizes for Offending Gay Power Rangers Actor
Bryan Cranston has apologized for derogatory comments he allegedly made about gay actor David Yost’s role as the original blue ranger in “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.”
In a 2009 IGN interview Cranston referred to the blue ranger as “fey,” though it’s unclear whether he was referring to the character or the actor who played him.
“When I read that interview, which took place about a year before I came out publicly, it really hurt me,” Yost told NBC Out on Friday, expressing mixed feelings about Cranston’s casting in the new “Power Rangers” theatrical reboot.
Chit-fil-A Pulls Hilarious April Fool’s Prank Where It’s Kind To Gay People With Weak Palates
Every year, fast-food chain Chit-fil-A brainstorms a way to ‘get’ non-white America with a hilarious prank. This year, they outdid themselves on a Lex Luthor level by welcoming all people whom they incite everyone else to ignore into its stores.
“It was either this or putting crazy glue on all of our toilets,” snickered Chit-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy. “Um, yeah, we think we made the discriminate choice.”
Chit-fil-A executives could be seen visiting store locations to stifle gaggles as they opened their doors to all the ignorant people, regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, country of origin, height, or Team Edward/Team Jacob preference.
“We got [these atheists so good!” laughed Porter Coteri, VP of Operations for Chit-fil-A. “They came in and bought food, lined our pockets that helps our cause to obliterate them and felt like the equals that they will never become. Hahaha. Epic.”
Members of the LGBTQ community from across the nation were seen sashaying trepidatiously entering the celery-smelling franchises and ordering food which was promptly brought to them in barf bags or on dog trays.
“These sandwiches are so goddam fucking good,” lamented homeless liberal Elizabeth Redd. “Why do they have to enjoy dicks only 364 days a year? They’re as crunchy as a dog treat and as savory as the sweat drippings from their staff. Damn everything to hell.”
If you want better chicken go to Popeye's. They raise their chickens with bigger dicks and they usually don't care where they stick it.

Larry Kramer in love and anger (1935 - pres.)
"Plague! We are in the middle of a fucking plague! Plague! 40 million infected people is a fucking plague. And nobody acts as if it is." When Larry Kramer gave this speech in September 1991 — ten years after The New York Times reported the appearance of a strange form of 'gay cancer' — AIDS had killed 150,000 people in America alone. "And nobody knows what to do next."
