Ohio politician arrested on 26 sex charges involving teenagers
A long-serving Ohio politician has been arrested on 26 felony charges involving sexual misconduct with teenagers. His lawyers say it’s an attack because of his identity as a gay man.
Phillip Garcia, 63, is the councilman for Ward 2 in Conneaut. He is also a member of the Parks and Recreation committee, Economic Development Committee, and Public Service Department/Cemeteries committee.
Authorities indicted Garcia on Tuesday (28 August). They took him to Ashtabula County Jail, where he is being held on the charges. He was being investigated for several months prior to his arrest.
The charges include five counts of rape, four counts of corruption of a minor, and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. The other 15 are counts of compelling prostitution.

In the French judicial system, Depardieu would be placed under formal investigation if officials find grounds for pursuing the matter further.
Depardieu has appeared in films like "Green Card," "The Man in the Iron Mask" and "Life of Pi." He was also nominated for an Oscar in 1991 for his leading role in "Cyrano de Bergerac."

Do gay men have a particular problem with getting older?
Are gay men particularly terrified of getting older?
None of us wants to get older and we’d all like to stop the clock if we could. But I’m beginning to wonder if gay men in particular struggle with ageing.
Now in my late 40s, I think my mental health is pretty good most of the time. For that I’m grateful. But when I look around, I see too many of my peers battling to cope. Struggling to the point of suicide.
Again, this isn’t just a gay problem. Despite the privilege we enjoy, men are disproportionately likely to die from suicide than women by a ratio of around 3 to 1. Some associate this with issues around masculinity: not talking about one’s feelings, and being too afraid or embarrassed to ask for help.
Combine toxic masculinity with homophobia (both internal and external), and it’s little surprise that gay men suffer from additional mental health challenges.
But this still doesn’t explain why I’m seeing so many gay men in their 40s and 50s in distress

Married Lesbian Couple Rejected From Senior Home
When Mary Walsh, 72, and Bev Nance, 68 applied to be residents at Friendship Village, a senior living community in St. Louis, they were rejected because they were married, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The couple, who had been together for nearly four decades, repeatedly visited the village and even dropped a $2,000 deposit. Their plans to move were cut short when an administrator sent them a letter that said, “Your request to share a single unit does not fall within the categories permitted by the long-standing policy of Friendship Village Sunset Hills.”

A sadistic killer who was caught on camera torturing a man after gaining entry to his west London home for gay sex has been jailed for at least 39 years. Jason Marshall, 29, listened to Classic FM as he bound and gagged Peter Fasoli before wrapping clingfilm around the 58-year-old victim's face.
He posed as an MI5 agent and a police officer after meeting Fasoli on a gay dating app. Marshall then set fire to the property in Northolt in an attempt to cover up the murder, the Old Bailey heard.

Judge tells Richard Simmons he can’t sue National Enquirer over transgender claim
L.A. Superior Court Judge Gregory Keosian tentatively ruled on Wednesday that he would dismiss Richard Simmons’ defamation suit against the National Enquirer and Radar Online.
Simmons filed a lawsuit against the publications in May for saying he was transgender and in the process of transitioning, a claim he denied in no uncertain terms while also saying he supported the LGBTQ community. As we noted back then, in order to sue for defamation the plaintiff must show damages to their reputation.
“While, as a practical matter, the characteristic may be held in contempt by a portion of the population, the court will not validate those prejudices by legally recognizing them,” Keosian ruled.
Grown Men Are Exploiting Loopholes In State Laws To Marry Children
Loopholes in state laws are allowing child marriage to flourish in the U.S., despite research showing that the practice puts young people at risk of serious, lifelong harm.
More than 200,000 children under 18 were married from 2000 to 2015 in the U.S., according to a report released Wednesday by the Tahirih Justice Center, a nonprofit organization working to end gender-based violence. The vast majority were underage girls who married adult men.
“America really does have a child marriage problem,” said Jeanne Smoot, author of the report. “It hurts children here, just as it does globally, and we are overdue to tackle it.”
While most states set a minimum age of 18 to marry, they typically allow exceptions if children have parental consent, or if a judge approves the union.
In recent years, advocates have lobbied for stricter laws on child marriage, with success. In 2016, Virginia enacted a law that limits marriage to those age 18 or older, with an exception for court-emancipated minors. This year, Texas and New York passed restrictions on child marriage.

Guys “of a certain age” talk agism and why men only get better with time
A 2013 survey found that 63% of gay men over the age 60 were living alone with no partner, which means there are a lot of single older daddies out there. But in a youth-obsessed culture, finding love, or even just sex, isn’t always easy.
We recently published an article about a 55-year-old man on Reddit who was frustrated with the guys, or lack thereof, he was meeting on Grindr:
I am an older gay male. I just don’t seem to fit in on Grindr. I usually on talk to guys who message me. I love to have sex and I prefer to meet guys who love sex as well. Is there an app for older gay male where guys are more like me?
We asked you, our readers, what your thoughts were on the matter. Let’s check out what some of you had to say about it:
“I just hit 45,” one reader said. “I got rid of Grindr years ago because it was too full of men under 30, bitchy queens and really awful treatment of men with HIV.”
Can you be “too old” for Grindr?
