‘Barbie’ Is Bad. There, I Said It.

Few dared rain on Barbie’s hot pink parade.

Those who openly hated it mostly did so for reasons having to do with what it “stood for.” They abhorred its (oddly anachronistic) third-wave feminist politics. They despised its commercialism and dreaded the prospect of future films about Mattel properties like Barney and American Girl dolls. They hated the idea of a movie about a sexualized pinup-shaped doll whose toy laptop or Working Woman (“I really talk!”) packaging couldn’t hide the stereotypes under the outfit.

Sex doll sales soar with gay people and couples fuelling demand

One sex doll company has released sales figures showing more people bought dolls in the first three months of the year than in the whole of 2019.

Their stats show gay and bi men and women are even more likely than other men and women to have bought one of the dolls.

Likewise, same-sex couples are also keen to add one of the dolls to their bedroom fun.

But the biggest rise of all appears to be among experimental heterosexual couples. That would appear to mean that some people in ‘straight’ relationships are using the lockdown to enjoy their bi side.

9-year-old hangs herself after mom told her not to play on cellphone

A 9-year-old girl hanged herself in her Bronx home — after her mother told her it was too early in the morning to be on her cellphone, sources and neighbors said Sunday.

Heaven Vega was found dead by her horrified mom, Jennifer, in her bedroom at the family’s apartment in the Bronx River Houses shortly before noon Saturday, authorities said.

The child had tied a belt around her neck and hanged herself from her bed, police said.
