Following a vote on Saturday, the band's leadership, known as the Bored, issued a statement saying that it has 'maintained a club structure founded on the basis of racism, cultural oppression, misogyny, and sexual harassment.'
'The Band has unanimously and enthusiastically decided to dissolve. The Columbia University Marching Band will not continue to exist in any capacity and will no longer serve as a Columbia spirit group,' the statement added.

Joe Biden was mocked by viewers last night after pulling out his phone and playing the megahit 'Despacito' at a Hispanic campaign event in Florida.
But critics accused Biden of 'pandering' and mocked him for playing a song whose title translates as 'Slowly' - evoking Donald Trump's nickname 'Slow Joe'.
Trump himself shared an edited video in which the song was changed to 'Fuck The Police' by N.W.A., with the president asking: 'What is this all about?'.

Oscar for wokeness: Anger in Hollywood as it is announced films will have to meet 'representation and inclusion' requirements if they are eligible to win Best Picture
Film stars raged at 'Woke Hollywood' last night after the Oscars announced that movies will have to meet diversity targets to be eligible to win Best Picture from 2024.
The Academy Awards shake-up means films hoping to win the top prize will have to hire more black, female, LGBT or disabled cast and crew or address themes that affect those communities.
The move comes after months of race protests in the US and years of pressure from activists who have called for a boycott of the glitzy event.
'The new RULES to qualify for Best Picture are dictatorial... anti-artist... Hollywood you're swinging so far left you're bumping into your own ass.'
Fellow actor Nick Searcy said: 'The Oscars used to be, just like the movies, something we all shared.
'Woke Hollywood turned it all into a weapon they could use against anyone who disagreed with their politics. This is how Hollywood destroyed itself, like the NBA, NFL and MLB just did.'
Film blogger Sasha Stone said: 'If the Academy inclusion mandate makes marginalized people feel they have a better chance getting employed I think that's a success.
'But I don't like that productions will be disqualified if they don't meet the demands. Just not the purpose of the Oscars.'

'They will portray you however they want': Married At First Sight star Aleks Markovic slams the announcement of 'wellness managers' joining the series
Former Married At First Sight star Aleks Markovic has slammed the introduction of new 'wellness managers' during productions on the series.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Sunday, Aleks was blunt about believing the new mental health measure wouldn't be very effective.
'At the end of the day they're going to portray you the way they want and fuck up someone's life regardless,' she said.
It comes amid news Endemol Shine Australia has drastically changed its mental health practices following a slew of complaints from reality stars.
It comes after Channel Seven was forced to pay a compensation claim to House Rules star Nicole Prince after it was found she suffered a 'psychological injury'.

Men compete to impregnate a woman on this deranged new reality show
Remember when Love Is Blind was the most extreme reality TV show anyone could envisage? Getting engaged sight-unseen was just crazy and hardcore enough to make cringey and absolutely addicting entertainment…
Well, FOX has outdone itself with its newest reality show, which began airing at the end of May. Labor of Love is a game show where men compete for the privilege of impregnating a woman. Yes, you read that right. As if 2020 hasn’t already proven society is on the verge of collapse, TV execs decided America needed a dating show that sounds creepily reminiscent of The Handmaid’s Tale’s rapey, dystopian plot.
Shut down all police movies and TV shows. Now.
For a century, Hollywood has been collaborating with police departments, telling stories that whitewash police shootings and valorizing an action-hero style of policing over the harder, less dramatic work of building relationships with the communities cops are meant to serve and protect. There’s a reason for that beyond a reactionary streak hiding below the industry’s surface liberalism. Purely from a dramatic perspective, crime makes a story seem consequential, investigating crime generates action, and solving crime provides for a morally and emotionally satisfying conclusion.
The result is an addiction to stories that portray police departments as more effective than they actually are; crime as more prevalent than it actually is; and police use of force as consistently justified. There are always gaps between reality and fiction, but given what policing in America has too often become, Hollywood’s version of it looks less like fantasy and more like complicity.

The students impacted ranged in age from 11 to 14 years, according to Hull Live.
What are the details?
Archbishop Sentamu Academy in Hull, England, assigned the homework to pupils in Personal, Social, and Health Education class requiring they define terms such as "transvestite," hardcore porn," and more.
The outlet notes that other portions of the assignment included research on subject such as "pornography, soft pornography, hardcore pornography, and transsexual pornography, as well as female genital mutilation, wet dreams, trafficking, male circumcision, breast ironing, and more."

Jerry Falwell Jr.'s Christian University Welcoming Students Back to Campus Amid COVID-19
Liberty University, a private evangelical Christian university in Virginia, is welcoming students back to campus this week despite a little something known as COVID-19.
"I was on a conference call with other college presidents and representatives from private colleges, and we listened to what other schools were doing," president Jerry Falwell Jr. said in a statement shared to the school's site this week. "Many were throwing their hands up and saying they would just close and others were going to extend their breaks. At that time, we were on Spring Break, so we had time to work on it."
This process of choosing to "work on it" ultimately resulted in the decision to "get [students] back as soon as we can, the ones who want to come back."
A report from the Richmond Times-Dispatch noted that between a few hundred to more than 5,000 students were projected to be living in Liberty dorms as classes resumed this week. The majority of those classes have moved to online formats. Staff and faculty, however, are said to be coming to work in their usual capacity.

Calls for Wendy Williams to be cancelled are renewed after catfish victim is mocked on air
Ben Shimkus was the first person to reveal that he had been catfished by Sherry Pie, also known as Joey Gugliemelli, a contestant on the current season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. “I have a weird story to tell about Sherry Pie,” Shimkus opened a Facebook post with two weeks ago.
If that’s not difficult enough, Shimkus has now become the punchline of jokes for tabloid shows and comedians. Yesterday, Shimkus took to writing about his experience in a GayCities article.
In the clip that Shimkus refers to, comedian and personality Michael Yo discussed the controversy around Sherrie Pie in a segment of The Wendy Williams Show known as ‘Inside Scoop.’
Yo tells host Wendy Williams and the audience of the syndicated talk show, “So this Ben guy, said that Sherry Pie catfished him, said she was a casting director, would send emails to him, back and forth, getting him to do lewd things…like masturbating on audition tapes. Is that lewd enough for you?”
“I mean, why didn’t these people do research?” Yo asks about the catfishing victims. “I’m not blaming them, but they’re young, the guys are young – they’re 23, 24 years old, trying to get their big break…so, man, but you have to do the research.”
Williams and Yo also giggle about the name of one of Sherry Pie’s fake movies that he pretended to cast for, “Bulk”.
In his article, Shimkus talks about how Yo told the story incorrectly in a “dismissive and vapid” segment
THE JOHN WAYNE INTERVIEW THAT CONTINUES TO OUTRAGE PEOPLE TODAY
Snopes.com cites chapter and verse of the interview published by Playboy Magazine in its May 1971 issue. In those days Playboy had a certain reputation not only for photography, but also long-form interviews that tried to get beneath the surface of the individual in question. Wayne gave them ample opportunity. One of the questions asked if Wayne felt any empathy toward Native Americans — termed Indians in those times — so often portrayed in his films as villains. Wayne's response:
"I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, if that's what you're asking. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves."
In a 1971 interview with Playboy magazine, Wayne admitted he didn't like African-American people (or "the blacks" as he constantly called them) being in charge of anything because white people are apparently the only people who know what they're doing. As he said in the interview, "I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people." He also railed against black people getting too many opportunities. He felt that "Hollywood studios are carrying their tokenism a little too far," and that minorities should only get roles meant for them. Like slaves — Wayne actually claimed to be inclusive because he "had a black slave in The Alamo." To that, you might say, "well, it's a start," but honestly, it's not.
