Shocking video of two churches pushing ex-gay therapy may help end the practice
While more US states prepare to ban so-called ex-gay conversion therapy, the harmful practice of trying to change someone’s sexual orientation remains legal through the UK. And a recent TV report has captured disturbing footage of two UK churches claiming that God can “fix” gay people.
An ITV investigative report revealed that Journey UK and World Mission Agency – Winners Chapel International (WMA-WCI) both advocate the idea that one can pray the gay away.
A man from Journey UK spoke to an undercover ITV reporter about how certain activities can help lessen one’s feelings of same-sex attraction. A pastor from WMA-WCI told the reporter that gay people are under Satan’s control and compared positive media depictions of gay people to Nazi propaganda.
The WMA-WCI pastor also said a 20-minute prayer over the reporter, even speaking in tongues, presumably attempting to “heal” him.
Education Dept. Proposes Enhanced Protection For Students Accused Of Sexual Assault
Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced sweeping rules on how colleges handle cases of sexual assault and harassment that she says will fix a "failed" and "shameful" system that has been unfair to accused students. In what the administration is calling a "historic process," the proposed rules aim to significantly enhance legal protections for the accused and reflect a sentiment expressed by President Trump that men are unfairly being presumed guilty. More than a year in the making, the rules replace Obama-era policies on how to implement Title IX, the law barring gender discrimination in schools that get federal funding.
The new rules are drawing both applause and anger.
Among the most significant changes is that schools can make it harder to prove allegations by raising the level of proof needed. Instead of requiring only a "preponderance of the evidence," as the Obama administration had directed, schools could demand "clear and convincing evidence." And many schools may well be forced to raise the bar, since the regulations also require that the standard for students be the same as that used for faculty and staff.
KANSAS OFFICIAL TELLS BLACK WOMAN HE'S MEMBER OF THE 'MASTER RACE:' 'DON'T EVER FORGET THAT'
A Kansas County commissioner is facing calls to apologize after telling a black woman that he is part of the “master race” during a routine public planning meeting.
The remark was made on Tuesday by Leavenworth County commissioner Louis Klemp, a white man, and seemingly directed at a woman presenting for an architecture firm. It has been branded as racist—and local media reported it was not the first time Klemp has sparked controversy.
“I don't want you to feel like I'm picking on you. Because we are part of the master race,” he said in the meeting. “You have a gap in your teeth you're the master race, don’t ever forget that.”
Bob Holland, another Leavenworth County commissioner, told KCTV5 that Klemp—who is reportedly due to leave his position on January 15 next year—should make an apology.
“What’s this master race?" Holland said on Wednesday. “None of us are a master race. We are all Americans, we are all human beings. I think he is a racist. I do. I think he owes an apology to that woman. I think he owes an apology to the whole commission. And the county.”

Black voters won’t take the Blexit ramp to vote for Trump
In an effort to radically change the dynamic, conservative television pundit Candace Owens is urging black Americans to join her in a new political campaign to break bonds with a half-century of fealty to Democrats. Her movement is called “Blexit.” You see what she did there: black and exit.
Trump is no friend to black voters or their interests. Long before he mounted a race-baiting presidential campaign, Trump had established his bonafides as someone who was, in the words of The New York Times’ David Leonhardt and Ian Prasad Philbrick, “obsessed with race for the entire time he has been a public figure.”
Ex-cop headed to prison for taking nude pics of 17-year-old boy he was sleeping with
An ex-cop from Missouri will spend the next seven years in prison not for having sex with a 17-year-old boy, but for taking nude pictures of him.
47-year-old Justin Watson was working as a highway patrol trooper in south-central Missouri at the time of the offense. He also umpired baseball games at Mountain View Liberty High, which is where he met the 17-year-old.
Among those throwing shade on West’s comments was Bakari Sellers, an African-American lawyer and politician from South Carolina.
“Idiocy is the willingness to sell out your culture for trinkets,” Sellers wrote. “@kanyewest doesn’t understand reality. The same hat he is wearing is responsible for Jeff Sessions and taking us back a decade in Criminal Justice reform. @kanyewest is a clown who wants to sell albums. I’m good.” 30-Sep-2018

A California barber shop says it didn't realize having a Colin Kaepernick doll hanging from a noose was offensive until photos of it surfaced online
The owner of a barber shop who had a Colin Kaepernick doll hanging from a noose in his shop said he had "no idea" it was offensive.
Bowtie Barbershop's owner, identified to FOX 40 only as "Bowtie Barber," apologized for the doll hanging in his Placerville, California, shop after photos of it surfaced online.
"I literally had no idea that I was offending people. We have a hangman out here called George and so, you know, with the theme of hangtown I hung him. And it was wrong, it was absolutely wrong," he said.
Tamera Mowry Defends Husband Adam Housley on The Real: 'My Husband Is Not a Racist'
Tamera Mowry-Housley is standing by her man.
The mom of two, 40, discussed the assumption that her husband Adam Housley is racist because of his affiliation with politically conservative channel Fox News during her talk show The Real on Tuesday morning. The network hired Housley as a Los Angeles-based reporter in 2001, but he left last month, according to Politico.
“There are some people who think that my husband is racist because he worked for a certain channel,” said the former child star, who is half-black. “I’m gonna look in that camera right there and let everybody know my husband is not a racist.”
UK schoolgirls have been pressured by peers to have FGM, campaigner says
Some schoolgirls in the United Kingdom have been pressured by their peers into undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM), according to FGM survivor and campaigner Leyla Hussein, Britain's Press Association reported.
Hussein, who founded the Dahlia Project in 2013 to help other survivors, said that she has spoken with many young women who say they feel vulnerable to becoming a victim to a crime that is still seen by many as a cultural practice or tradition, rather than a violent sexual offense, PA said.
"Some of my clients are 19-year-old girls now who were children or were born in this (country) and they will say to you they were pressured in a playground in a school in London to go and have it done," she said.

Scientologists Used to Sell Bogus Meat to Poor People to Fund Their Training
Scientology is a supposed religion whose methods and organizational hierarchy just so happen to resemble a pyramid scheme. In spite of that (or perhaps because of it), the church L. Ron Hubbard founded has lured a number of acolytes over the years with the promise of “going clear.” And while all the Hollywood celebrities affiliated with Scientology can afford the escalating payments needed to get deeper into the organization, new reporting shows that less-famous followers had to sell mysterious meat to Californians in order to up their Operating Thetan levels.
The Daily Beast recently took a deep dive into Scientology’s surprising connection to the world of California meat sales in the '70s and '80s. Though not officially an arm of the church, the workforce of Scientologist-owned businesses like Mr. Sirloin and Tully’s Premium Meats drew disproportionately from the ranks of believers, giving them a chance to sell meat on commission in order to pay their way up the ladder.
Trump’s enduring political strength with white women, explained
White women voters disapprove of President Donald Trump’s job performance, but nonetheless view him more favorably than other voters — showing that even as a large Trump-era gender gap seems to have opened up, gender remains a less significant marker of political behavior than race and ethnicity or even age.
Tracking polling from Civiqs available online makes it easy to examine Trump’s approval rating among demographic subgroups of registered voters and illustrate the point.
Trump famously won a majority of white women’s votes in 2016, but he is currently unpopular with this group.
