Today's youth deserve inclusive masturbation education
For a kid, there are few things more awkward than sitting in a sex ed class and learning about masturbation. For a queer or transgender kid, the experience can be simultaneously uncomfortable and painful.
That's because, as some sex educators argue, sex education often fails to address masturbation in an inclusive way. In fact, it may not even be discussed at all. Less than half of American high schools and only one fifth of middle schools teach all 16 sex ed topics from the Center for Disease Control's recommended list. Masturbation isn't even on that list, much less inclusive masturbation education.
"Talking about self-pleasure doesn't happen that much in sex ed," says Andrew Townsend, teen program coordinator for Planned Parenthood Toronto.
By ignoring masturbation and not addressing it in a way that speaks to everyone, sex ed fails our youth. Inclusive sex ed should be a critical component of education, and masturbation should be a core topic. Regardless of gender identity or sexuality, the practice is an essential part of an individual's sexual pleasure.
Lesbian dating apps and sites for queer women and non-binary people
Yeah, yeah, dating apps are veritable cess pits of human garbage, I know - and that's if you can actually get replies from people. But when you're lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, non-binary, pansexual, any LGBTQIA+ identity, dating apps can connect you to people you might not encounter in your day to day life. And they can be a goddam lifeline.
Of course, most dating apps aren't build with us lot in mind. Nope, they're mainly for the straights. So, shortly after becoming single, I took it upon myself to test a variety of queer-specific and mainstream dating apps to see just how good they are for LGBTQ+ people. For context: I am a cis woman, and was up for dating people of all gender identities.
PS: Eight months later, I have a legend of a girlfriend who I met on one of these apps (but probably not the one you'd think...) during this experiment. Thanks journalism, thanks Cosmo you bloody matchmaker, I owe it all to you.
Wife concerned her husband masturbates with his best friend, doesn’t know what to do about it
A woman is concerned that her husband has been regularly masturbating with his best friend for years so she’s seeking help from advice guru Rich Juzwiak over at Slate.
The woman and her husband, both in their 30s, have been together for about six years and married for two. Last year, they met up with her husband’s childhood friend and his fiancée for drinks.
At some point during the evening, the topic of sex came up. The woman says she was shocked to learn that her husband and his buddy used to jerk off together when they were younger.
“It turns out they masturbated together as teenagers, which included ‘giving each other a hand’,” she writes. “I was taken aback by this, but they all seemed to think it was hilarious, and my husband was embarrassed, so I shrugged it off. Teenagers do things. We didn’t talk about it again.”
Cut to one year later.
MADONNA SAYS GIVING PHONES TO OLDER CHILDREN ‘ENDED HER RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM’
Madonna has said giving phones to her two eldest children had a hugely negative impact on her relationship with them.
Despite having given 22-year-old Lourdes and 18-year-old Rocco phones when they were in their early teens, Madonna does not plan on doing the same for her 13-year-old son David.
"I'm going to stick that one out for as long as possible, because I made a mistake when I gave my older children phones when they were 13," the Madame X star told Vogue.
"It ended my relationship with them, really."

Why do so many gay men feel lonely? A life coach gives the unfiltered truth
The gay men I work with range from their 20s to 50s. The guys in their 20s are often more attuned to coaching. They’re proactive about their growth and preempt problems by making informed choices. They can be savvy about the need for personal investment.
For older guys, certain issues come up regularly. They include learning to thrive as a gay man as they get older, finding meaningful work and creating authentic connections.

School Bus Driver Receives No Jail Time After Raping 14-Year-Old Student
There was no doubt after his guilty plea that the former school bus driver had raped a 14-year-old girl.
But because there was only one victim, and the accused had no prior arrests, the judge in the case said the man didn’t deserve to be sent to prison. Instead, Jefferson County, New York, Judge James P. McClusky sentenced the man, Shane M. Piche, to 10 years’ probation, according to the Watertown Daily Times.
The punishment did not sit well with the victim’s mother.

How I started living for myself and not just for weekends on the gay scene
When you’re surrounded by people, you can still be isolated.
You might be in a busy bar, beer in hand, but it can feel like the loneliest place in the world.
When Damian and I started our podcast MenTalkHealth, we didn’t have a clear intent on what we wanted to do.
What came out of it was the older LGBTI people in Brighton came to us and said it was amazing. These were people that weren’t going out but they still wanted to listen to gay voices.
The majority of gay men I know are always busy, but they often don’t make any actual connections. Grindr and Scruff aren’t real. You might meet people going out to bars, with all its drinking and drugs, but you won’t find real connections there.

Lack of physical human contact is making us skin hungry and more lonely
Loneliness, the theme of this year’s Digital Pride, is a subject which at times seems intertwined with the LGBTI experience.
Ever since Radcliffe Hall wrote their seminal novel The Well Of Loneliness we have tried to find ways to express that sense of being apart, the isolation and the pain that realization often brings.
This sense of otherness can start in our early teens, as we recognize our difference. We believe that this divides us from our family, community and friends. This is one of the reasons so much work with LGBTI focuses on building links with others, opening up the possibility that they are not alone.
It is also why when we look at resilience as a sense of belonging, and being accepted are at the core of who thrives, and who does not. When we do not feel alone or isolated, we can grow and develop to our full potential.
For many of us, especially as we grow older, it can feel as if the isolation is ever present. This is not to dismiss the wonderful communities LGBTI people have built, the families we have fought to belong to, the place in the world which often, at great cost we have carved out for ourselves. However research tells us that many LGBTQI people still feel that deep sense of isolation.

What I Learned About Loving My Body as a Gay Man
Everyone has a story about their body. Some of us want to look great for the beach, to feel powerful and sexy when we’re in bed with someone, or to move easily without pain or discomfort.
My body’s story has everything to do with being gay.
As a kid, I was always sick and had more allergies than you could count. I had allergies to foods, dust, pollens, and fragrances. I reacted in many ways, from a skin rash to hives, earaches that were beyond painful, diarrhea, flu-like symptoms, and days spent sick in bed. To make matters worse, I was diagnosed as ADHD. Imagine pairing an allergic reaction and ADHD together! Suffice to say I never felt like I had much control over my body as a child.
Being sick a lot made me aware of how my body responded to food and foods that did not agree with me. Perhaps because of my mother’s intervention and being so reactive to food as a child, I never got fat. I was always skinny. When you’re sick all the time it’s difficult to gain weight.

‘I scheduled to meet with a dude I met on Grindr over the weekend and we had only shared one pic,’ Joe wrote in a now viral post. ‘I guess over the weekend, he catches amnesia or something and completely forgets how I look.
‘Fast forward to 9:30pm and Kyle texts me that he’s at the door. I opened the door, didn’t see anyone and he had also completely ghosted me on text. I was sure at the moment I just got punk’d.
‘He calls me two minutes later and here’s when I get the climactic run down.

How this cuddle club for gay and bi men fights loneliness with intimacy
Why do so many of us who live in cities feel lonely?
It’s a clichéd concept, really: being surrounded by people and yet feeling distant. Huge tower blocks filled with other human beings and no one makes eye-contact, no one says hello. The only touch you feel is the angry weight of another person on the tube.
Because it’s not just the big, complex feelings of emotional fulfillment or finding your soul mate that’s lacking. It’s the very fundamentals of existing as a human being. Touching another person. Looking into another’s eyes. Hugging each other.
In London, one of the biggest and loneliest cities on Earth, there’s one small club tackling this problem for gay and bisexual men.
