Donald Trump Not Immune From 'Apprentice' Star's Defamation Lawsuit, NY Appeals Court Rules
According to today's opinion, Trump's contention that he doesn't have to face Summer Zervos' lawsuit while in office conflicts with the fundamental principle that the United States has a "government of laws and not of men."
In a lengthy decision of great significance, a New York appeals court has affirmed a decision that President Donald Trump must face a defamation lawsuit brought by season-five Apprentice contestant Summer Zervos.
The dispute arose after audio was published of Trump boasting to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush about grabbing women's genitals. As Trump was under fire for his comments, Zervos came forward to accuse him of kissing her twice in 2007 and attacking her in a hotel room. "I never met her at a hotel," responded Trump, who would also counter allegations from his accusers as "100 percent fabricated and made-up charges, pushed strongly by the media and the Clinton campaign."
Zervos alleged in her lawsuit that she was branded a liar.
Dean Norris slams ‘rich fuck wads’ who ‘cheated for their already privileged kids’
“When I think of all the kids who studied hard, stayed up late, had part-time jobs to pay for their college application fees, and then were denied rightly deserved places in elite colleges because some rich f—wads cheated for their already privileged kids— I’m disgusted,” Norris tweeted Tuesday.

This high school prom bans same-sex guests, even after a lawsuit about it
A high school is coming under fire for banning same-sex guests at their prom.
Students at Tremont Attendance Center, a public school in Tremont, Mississippi, were told to sign paperwork that bans same-sex guests to prom.
“Guests must be 10th grade-21 years old and of the opposite sex,” a liability release form says.
“This is a night set aside to honor and celebrate our Juniors and Seniors and will be treated as such,” the form says in the same paragraph, possibly as an explanation for the ban on same-sex guests.
Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin among 50 charged in college admissions scam for unworthy kids, prosecutors say
Hollywood actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin have been charged in a nationwide college-entrance cheating scam, according to federal court records unsealed on Tuesday.
Huffman, Loughlin, and 48 other individuals — including a slew of wealthy executives and attorneys — engaged in “large-scale, elaborate fraud” to create a “rigged system” at elite American universities like Yale, Stanford, USC, and UCLA, according to prosecutors. In some cases, they allegedly used imposters to stand in for the children at exams or bribed athletic recruiters to recruit their children, even if they didn’t end up playing that sport in college.
Federal prosecutors cited one example where parents paid a $400,000 bribe to Yale’s women’s soccer coach so that their daughter could attend the school. She didn't play soccer.
The investigation is ongoing, and more parents and coaches are believed to be involved.
Showtime’s SMILF Canceled Amid Probe of Frankie Shaw’s Misconduct
After two seasons and a campaign to rehabilitate the image of its creator-star, SMILF has been given walking papers at Showtime. The network confirmed that the Frankie Shaw-led series will air the remainder of its Season 2 episodes, but will otherwise shutter production. Shaw herself has had her creative deal with ABC Studios suspended amid an investigation into her conduct.
Additionally, ABC Studios confirmed in its own statement that “Frankie Shaw’s overall deal with ABC Studios has been suspended without pay while we review our options.” The two-year deal was announced last summer, and The Hollywood Reporter notes Showtime was looking to place Shaw behind the camera for a limited series based on Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar.
Parents protesting over LGBT+ lessons in Birmingham told they risk attracting ‘extreme fringe movements’
Parents protesting about LGBT+ lessons at a Birmingham primary school have been warned that they risk attracting “extreme fringe movements”, by the city’s council.
The advice came as hundreds signed a petition supporting the school’s diversity programme.
Parents and staff at Parkfield Community School, where most pupils are Muslim, were urged by the council to “come together” amid a row over teachings on same-sex relationships.
It comes after a number of demonstrations by some parents who claim their children are too young for the topic. Some families took their offspring out of the school in protest.
Russian Lawmaker Says Gays Are 'Sick,' Must Be 'Cured'
A Russian lawmaker who heads a parliamentary committee on family and children affairs has called gays "sick" people who "must be cured."
In a televised interview aired on March 5, Tamara Pletnyova also said that the 19th-century prominent Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky also was gay, "but he always hid it and was ashamed of it."

Why Are So Many LGBTQ Groups Staying Silent About This #MeToo Scandal?
On Monday night, residents of West Hollywood called for John Duran to leave his position on the West Hollywood City Council after weeks of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
It was a deeply sobering moment. The native Angeleno boasts decades of advocacy work for the city’s gay and HIV-positive communities. Duran ceded his position as mayor of West Hollywood on Monday morning, citing health concerns, but this was less momentous than it would appear. The post of mayor is largely ceremonial, rotating each year among members of the council, and Duran has remarked that West Hollywood perceives him to be mayor no matter who holds the seat. He remains on the council, and he has no plans to resign from that post.
White Supremacist Propaganda At 'Record-Setting' Levels, ADL Report Finds
At first, you might not realize the flyer was put there by a white supremacy group.
The poster, in shades of black, white and teal, features Andrew Jackson on horseback. The accompanying text reads: "European roots, American greatness."
Flyers like this, posted across the country by American neo-Nazi and white supremacist group Identity Evropa are popping up far more than they used to. Others feature George Washington. According to a new report by the Anti-Defamation League, white supremacy propaganda increased by 182 percent in 2018 compared with the year before.
The increase in flyers and other propaganda reflects a relatively new strategy for hate groups, the ADL says. Under intense scrutiny, white supremacists are reluctant to show their face in public, so they're relying more on leaflets and posters to spread hate without putting themselves at personal risk, it adds.

Teen Who Said She Was Stopped By Black Man Pretending To Be Cop Charged With Filing False Police Report
A 17-year-old in Southgate, Michigan is facing charges of filing a false police report after she apparently lied about being pulled over by a fake police officer, who she coincidentally described as a tall, Black man.
According to the News-Herald, 17-year-old Faith Gentry stood silent during an arraignment, refusing to plead either guilty or not guilty. As a matter of routine, the judge usually takes this sort of silence as a not guilty plea. Her bond was set at $25,000 and she’s scheduled for a pretrial hearing for March 8.
Last week, Gentry appeared on Fox2Detroit to tell her story after she says she was pulled over.
“I was coming down southbound down Fort and this ‘cop’ put his lights on and I pulled over,” she claimed.
Arrests and unrest in Sacramento as Becerra also declines to file charges in Stephon Clark shooting
Sacramento police arrested 84 people Monday night, including journalists, during a protest over the district attorney’s decision not to charge two officers who in March 2018 shot Stephon Clark, a black man holding a cellphone.
Among those arrested for refusal to disperse were local clergy members who had worked with the city for nearly a year to prevent tense protests like those that overtook the city following the shooting. Those protests ended up closing a freeway and blocking access to an NBA game.
Man Sues 3 White Women Who Accused Him Of Stalking, Being A Pedophile In 'Gardening While Black' Case
A Detroit man is planning to sue three white women who repeatedly called the cops on him and fabricated stories of stalking, threatening and even being a pedophile, all because he was working on constructing a community garden at a vacant playground in his community.
Marc Peeples, who is Black, and his attorney Robert Burton-Harris are accusing the women of making up increasingly alarming stories about him throughout 2017 and early 2018 as part of their ploy to “take control” of Hunt Park and have Peeples removed from the park where he was trying to build out an urban garden, the Detroit Metro Times reports.
The three women – Deborah Nash, Martha Callahan, and Jennifer Morris – all live near the park. The first began calling the police about Peeples, accusing him of “illegal gardening,” but when police declined to respond, they escalated their behavior.
At one point, they accused Peeples of threatening Nash with a gun in the park. In another incident, they accused him of being a part of a drive-by shooting. In one of the more horrifying cases, the women waited until Peeples was with children – who were working with him in the garden – and accused him of being a pedophile.
