Housemaid (2025) Woof

The ladies jell and create spasms of psychosis. We follow them for being obvious and enduring. Lowly housemaids work for followers. The potholes don't harden but the cast was irresistable. Seyfried's character makes more sense in the past than she does in the present. By the time Sweeney bimbo's up, we're tuned and liking it. 08-Apr-2026

Twinless (2025) Howl

Dylan is all grown-up and ready for his close-up. Both turns are different and complex. Each side brought his personality forward and succeeded. One precarious and adventuresome, the other, patient and understanding. I kept seeing him as Nightwing. Maybe because I was imagining his impressive butt in tights. James Sweeney quietly tempered his character to fit a personality whose desire to fight loneliness outweighed the prescription that cures it. The foot suck was everything. Two men become attached when they share twin loss. When a twin dies, the survivor no longer has a mirror to base their lives on. One is gay, the other not but they create a bond that soothes the emptiness. A mirror to their souls. Susan Parks was sarcastic and aware. Two great attributes for comedy. Lauren Graham's sympathetic but volatile persona glorified a lot of her scenes. Francois Arnaud beefed things up by looking short, turning us on and being a dick. The cast was funny and endearing, the comedy was intellectual, the drama was bold, the sex was hot and politics were non-existent. I enjoyed it a lot. 20-Jan-2026

Wake Up Dead Man: Knives Out (2025) Howl

Josh O'Connor was an Exorcist "Dimmy" dream. Josh Brolin was a Monsignor undie dropper. Jeremy Renner reached. Mila did well. Daddy Scott was still pinchable but backdoored. No one can light a room like Lady Close. Kerry explored and was successful. I laughed through most of it because it was funny, interesting and dynamic. Daddy superior still has issues with a hypocritical accent. I found a way. Have Super Daddy proclaim that he was faking it for legal reasons. The story was fun, the pace delightful and the performances were sublime. 13-Dec-2025

Superman (2025) Arf

It promises a lot that it doesn't deliver. It celebrates itself before we get a chance to absorb any of it. Beating Superman like a desperate housewife does not bring humanity to his persona and establishing himself as a victim of puny super abuse is not consistent with his mythology. Gunn did not utilize kryptonite because it limited action but embraced creating sun out of everything. It's a willing cast except for the Clarks. They were very hillbilly stupid. The big bad was existential with a personal vendetta and no superpowers to start a fight. The last half goes silly, corny and festive. Fillion's silver bowl hair distracted from his personality. It was also ugly. Mr. Terrific made most of his time by being cool whenever possible, Hawkgirl was miscast as a girl. She's a woman. A Gorilla Grodd would have introduced freshness to the tired and true. A drunk Supergirl was irresponsible and out of place. Does Clark also fuck Lois in the air? The film is just an introduction. 21-Sep-2025

Wicked (2024) Woof

I tried reading the book of "Wicked" and found I couldn't latch on to an emotional core because it was too busy describing things. I remember a description of a clock that I couldn't imagine, irking me the most. I did not finish the book but I finished the movie. The movie played like an antsy child that won't sit. I wanted to admire all the technical work but it was too busy setting up the next song to have much impact. More dwarves, less songs equal better character development. I couldn't understand Elphaba's evil turn. I didn't know she was a PETA. Wouldn't Glinda be the sensitive one and a people pleaser? Why is she called good when she's so self absorbed? Erivo owns the part but is not given the opportunity to act. Her voice is great but I wanted more character depth. Grande impressed and scared the beejesus out of me when she delivered a Kristin Chenowith performance. Her mimicry was outstanding. It's cheerful, harmless and colorful but it's not Oz or Kansas. 06-Aug-2025

Gladiator II (2024) Arf

Well assembled rendition of what's been done before. The story had little impact and cliched emotions. The actors and the spectacle are worthy with little help from the script. Entertainment without soul. 09-May-2025

Babygirl (2024) Whimper

A dark tale told amongst frustration. I being frustrated that nothing interesting happens in between Lady Nic's breathing sessions. The characters needed more strokes and history to understand their motivations. Everything was a whisper, only the men lost it, direction had no distinct style and the banter was vacuous. Lady Nic fulfilled her duty and was fun to follow. Harris Dickinson was a good choice but there was too much psycho in his swagger. Antonio was the only actor allowed to emote pain and anger. He did it well. His outburst was what the rest of the film lacked. Energy. Cognizance was on dream mode. The reason men are toxic is because women can't orgasm without it. The resolution is simplified to fulfill the fairy tale agenda. It nulls the truth and its purpose. 07-May-2025

Twisters (2024) Arf

It's popcorn fun without the stomach ache or the funny taste but its easily forgotten. There isn't much to a twister film if the effects aren't ready to tackle what could happen inside one. Its parent film created the illusion that a twister was powerful because it could raise a cow. I wanted to see what a human might go through when sucked into a twister. Just because there are no witnesses doesn't mean we can't decipher one. The cast is amiable, the story keeps pumping but the science let me down. 12-Apr-2025

World Without End (1956) Arf

Astronauts propelled into an apocalyptic earth have to encourage a frightened future society that sun and violence is necessary for survival. Rod Taylor wastes no time getting undressed and that was a good thing but somebody chopped up his story. Future women were equipped with beauty and a desire to experience a man at his most sweaty. Cavemen were created from an atomic blast that made them violent and gave them the capacity to rule the environment. It's a film with good ideas that are jumbled. Future woman was the only realistic effect. They were gorgeous in skimpy space suits. The film couldn't expand on why the cure for everything is to fight. 16-Jan-2025

What Happened To Monday (2017) Woof

Glenn Close deserves to play a bona-fide witch. She'd be unforgettable. Willem Dafoe was cerebral and dominant. Marwan Kenzari is unbuckling. At first I thought it was the slicked back hair until I saw his beard. His beard had shadows. I could smell his smoke. What a beautiful beast. It was hardening. Noomi Rapace added texture to all her personalities and made them unique. Some of her guises were marvelous. The future is overloaded with children and the law has issued that families can only have one. A mother dies giving birth to septuplets and dad inherits the burden of keeping 7 sisters safe. He keeps them alive and they thrive until one goes missing. Action sequences were impactful, set-ups were energetic, the actors delivered and the director kept it interesting. 19-Nov-2024

Are You In The House Alone? (1978)  Woof

Kathleen Beller was a momentary icon that embodied being the naive girl that falls into temptation and then gets called out for it. Princess is being stalked and nobody gives a shit. Gwyneth's twin mother, Blythe supplies enough misunderstandings to compel her child to rebel. Baby Dennis Quaid's swag was thinking he could make women cum with only his dick. The film begins post crime with warnings and horror elements woven into it but it's not that. It's a sober approach that questions why all rapists can't get convicted. Life has a way of adjusting a lack of human justice though, by cursing the guilty party. "Scream like I screamed, bitch." 03-Nov-2024

Servant, The (1963) Woof

The film presents interesting character development, a pace that is amicable and intelligent artists doing their thing. It's a product of 60's liberation. It was lust, sex and jazz. The mirror shots were cool and a stamp of British stroke. Lonely affluent man hires a streetwise butler to care for his expansive home and demands. The relationships are cold and it's hard to get a read on characters. The 50's aspect lulled me comfortably but the transition to the gogo 60's, turned my gut. Unexpected scenarios were aplenty. The film answers all our questions except, "why?" Every person we encounter is a power struggle. 26-Oct-2024

Come And Get It (1936) Howl

Lumber jack foreman secures a fortunate future by destroying the competition and engaging with the boss' daughter. Edward Arnold was boisterous, empathetic and in charge as the hero with huge aspirations but prone to trigger happy endings. The logging scenes were an educational interruption that impressed me. His engagement was sidetracked by a saloon singer that was as proud of her balls as he was of his future wife's. The meet/greet was cute and sometimes funny. His greed and her heartbreak was realized. He abandons girl and his bestie for success. He bears a son that is a tower of goodness, modernity and a cause for vapors. Hot as fuck. Daddy's reign allows us to eventually turn on him. Bestie accepts responsibility by honoring what women need. Years roll by, the children mature and foreman is a parasite king pin. Boss encounters his heartbreak's daughter and subjects her to creepy adventures that don't make sense. He showers her and her family repeatedly until they become one of their own but a switch of interest from our heroine forces the hierarchy to crack. Circumstances become pervy and desperate. I understood the desire but not the pain. An old classic that dared and a heroine that stood up for herself. 17-Sep-2024

Uglies (2024) Whimper

Interesting premise that has no solid fictional reference to back it up. The idea that you get surgery at 16 to look your most beautiful self and be happy is fraudulent. Why didn't the people revolt before they agreed to a ludicrous way of living? What happens to the naturally beautiful? Vanity purists wouldn't allow that type of interruption to their legacy. Is there anything uglier than uglies? Do they step up to ugly status when the others reach nirvana? How many mothers popped ugly babies for society to enact such a rule? The baddie was a borderline dystopian with comic book strokes. If the rulers can manipulate the people to overhaul ugly, why go to the next extreme? The beauty is for whom? I liked Nose better before he turned into a Final Fantasy character. The movie made me self conscious of the lead's looks. I was judging them constantly to see if she fit the part. All she needed was a bath. The finale was maddening. You mean the baddies could have done that all along? What did they need Tally for? Her history with Nose had a heartbeat but her new buddy happend too swiftly and coincidentally to kick. Nose closure was a post-it from somebody else's refrigerator. I wished Croy was Smoke. Feelings coming back after transitioning wasn't explored enough to be convincing. Wouldn't starting fires to escape the opposition create an air map for the enemy? Skate surfing scenes uplifted but forging through the woods to bring grandma back was stark. It was not painful to watch or stay. 18-Sep-2024

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024) Woof

Taylor-Joy shared her thoughts by creating a narrative we could understand, sparkling eyes wasn't given enough artillery to establish a heartfelt character that could pump the breaks and let you feel, Hemsworth establishes that his Thor-type villain is not to be fucked with, the director's vision infected the tech crew. They lived up to expectations. Action sequences were bombastic and artistic. The war scenes confused but they didn't disappoint. The mythology skipped key details that would have granted an Anna/Charlize showdown. I needed more information to explain how a girl succeeds in a filthy society that wants to purge. (I would have made little and middle Furiosa big Furiosa's daughters and have one of her instant love interests be the questionable father.) The team-up would be awesome. There wasn't enough odyssey to landscape the people but it sure looked great. 24-Aug-2024
