Little Richard Disavows the ‘Unnatural Affections’ of Homosexuality
Rock ‘n’ roll legend Little Richard, who has previously described himself as both “gay” and “omnisexual,” has a new outlook on life at 84 years old.
“Anybody come in show business, they’re going to say you’re gay. Are you straight? Are you a homosexual something? They’re going to say it. But God, Jesus, he made men, men, he made women, women, you know? And you’ve got to live the way God wants you to live.”
The “Tutti Frutti” singer, who no longer wears makeup or wigs, also spoke out against “unnatural affections.”
“You know, all these things. So much unnatural affection. So much of people just doing everything and don’t think about God. Don’t want no parts of him,” he said.

Without LGBTQ People, Modern Music Wouldn't Exist
VICE: What initially made you decide to write this book?
Darryl W. Bullock: I wanted to write a book about LGBTQ people making records, but to be honest, it was a bit dull. It was starting to look a bit like an encyclopedia, an A-to-Z of gay musicians. Then, maybe three or four months into the project, David Bowie died, and his death struck me really viscerally.
But it was while I saw how others reacted to his death, especially the stars I grew up with—the Boy Georges and the George Michaels and the Madonnas—that I realized I was going down the wrong track. I realized the book shouldn’t just be about LGBTQ people making records, but how they influenced each generation that followed. You start to build up this timeline, and it stretches back over 100 years, almost back to the birth of commercially available discs.
It was also a definite decision to include voices you don’t hear of. It would be easy to write a book just about Elton John, George Michael, Boy George, Freddie Mercury, those kinds of people. But I really wanted to document the lives of people like Patrick Haggerty, Blackberri and John “Smokey” Condon (pic above), people who have made incredibly important contributions to music and to LGBTQ lives but have been basically ignored by the mainstream media.

Death of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, a founding father of grunge, ruled a suicide
Chris Cornell, a key figure in the grunge rock movement as the banshee-voiced singer in the seminal Seattle band Soundgarden, killed himself in a hotel room after playing a Wednesday night concert with the group, authorities said.
Cornell, 52, was found dead early Thursday in his room at the MGM Grand Detroit, police said. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not been completed, the medical examiner said in a statement.

Madonna: ‘I’ve been devastated or heartbroken all my life’
Madonna has been able to turn heartbreak into art.
“Art keeps me alive,” the 58-year-old music icon tells Harper’s Bazaar. “I’ve obviously been devastated or heartbroken all my life, since my mother’s death. I’ve had so many challenges throughout my career, however successful people perceive me to be. The only way I’ve been able to survive the betrayal of lovers, family members, and society is to be able to create as an artist.”
After more than 30 years in entertainment, Madonna still has an unquenchable thirst. Beyond art, it’s her desire to “inspire” people and the want to “touch people’s hearts to get them to look at life in a different way,” that constantly propels the Michigan-native forward.
