Buffy’s Nicholas Brendon Is ‘Not Ready’ to Speak About Joss Whedon Allegations: ‘It’s Very Personal for Me’

Taking his time. Nicholas Brendon told fans that he won’t be discussing the allegations against Joss Whedon after Buffy the Vampire Slayer costar Charisma Carpenter claimed that he displayed abusive behavior on set.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Cast Addresses Joss Whedon Scandal

“I’m not speaking on Joss yet,” Brendon, 49, explained in a Facebook Live video on Monday, February 15, as he prepared to undergo spinal surgery. “It’s very personal for me, so I’ll speak on that when I’m ready to speak on that because he and I had a relationship. It’s a big part of my life, a very emotional part of my life and I want to give it the proper respect and time that it deserves.”

Favreau & Pascal Caught In ‘Mandalorian’ Controversy

Over the past several months, opposing hashtags — #FireGinaCarano, #WeLoveCaraDune, and #IStandWithGinaCarano — all trended at various points in time. The former women’s MMA fighter frequently thanked her supporters and clapped back at her “haters” with various posts, including a Yoda meme and a Princess Bride quote.

The straw that broke the camel’s back in regard to Gina Carano was a Tweet that many deemed anti-Semitic. The Hollywood Reporter shared Lucasfilm’s official statement about firing the Star Wars actress:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Almost immediately after news about Carano’s firing broke, social media users began noting that Pascal, too, has previously shared a post that compared modern day American culture to Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.

Bill Maher defends Armie Hammer over allegations of emotional and physical abuse

Bill Maher has defended Armie Hammer after numerous women accused the actor of emotional and physical abuse.

Last week (February 5), Maher came to Hammer’s defence on his show Real Time with Bill Maher. “I think we can talk about this in relation to where feminism is because, apparently, Armie Hammer has a predilection to tell his dates he wants to ‘eat’ them,” he said. “And who wouldn’t want to be eaten by Armie Hammer? Come on.”

Steven Spielberg Reportedly Refusing To Work With Tom Cruise Again

Steven Spielberg is one of the greatest directors in the history of cinema, not to mention the single most commercially successful, with the bearded legend the only person to boast a filmography that’s earned over $10 billion at the box office. Meanwhile, Tom Cruise has been one of the Hollywood’s marquee stars for 35 years, so it was almost inevitable that any collaborations between the two would yield spectacular results.

Indeed, Minority Report is one of the 21st Century’s best sci-fi movies, while War of the Worlds was a massive hit that reinvented the classic story for the modern era, and it remains the biggest earner of Cruise’s career that isn’t part of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Having turned out two high quality crowd-pleasers in the space of just three years, then, it looked as though a fruitful partnership was in the works, but they haven’t worked together since.

Insider Daniel Richtman is now claiming that’s because Spielberg has no interest in reuniting with the action icon, despite Cruise reportedly looking to set up for another movie for them. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get into specifics, but notes that “[the director] doesn’t wanna work with Cruise.”

Kevin Spacey continues bizarre Christmas tradition of tone-deaf videos

Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey shared a third annual Christmas Eve video Thursday that left many wondering whether he knew how to read the room.

The nearly 2½-minute YouTube video, which he also posted on his Twitter feed, featured Spacey, 61, addressing the camera directly while walking in an unidentified park.

Kevin Spacey continues bizarre Christmas tradition of tone-deaf videos

Mr. Spacey is not talking to us, he's talking to his people. Someone needs to and who better. A representative might calm those fuckers down. I fell for his attempt at honesty until he shook it off. The important thing is the message to the pedos got through. Did I do good daddy? 24-Dec-2020

Hugh Jackman and wife go for a very chilly swim in the Hamptons

He must be taking the cancellation of the 2021 Coney Island Polar Bear Plunge pretty hard.

Hugh Jackman was spotted out on a Hamptons beach with wife Deborra-Lee Furness on Monday, and despite it being December in New York, the pair went for a swim!

Furness was wearing a wetsuit, so she at least hasn’t taken complete leave of her senses, though Jackman opted for just a pair of swim trunks despite the water temperature in Montauk being recorded at 44 degrees Monday. Either way, they’re both clearly made of sterner stuff than we are.

DIRECTOR EDWARD JAMES OLMOS WANTED EQUAL NUDITY AND FLAMING STUNTMEN ON BATTLESTAR GALACTICA'S 'THE PLAN'

Bonus! We have one more special episode of the Battlestar Galacticast podcast, and co-hosts Marc Bernardin and Tricia Helfer (Number Six) appropriately talk about BSG's final TV movie, The Plan, with the film's writer and producer, Jane Espenson.

Edward James Olmos (aka Admiral Adama) directed the companion film to the series (note to newbies: The Plan is not the best place to start your BSG watching experience), which follows the path of two Cavils (Dean Stockwell) in the lead-up and aftermath of the initial Cylon attack on humanity. For BSG fans, the TV film is a walk down memory lane, a chance to revisit favorite scenes from the mini-series and the first and second seasons, albeit from a Cylon point-of-view.

Even though the content was dark, Espenson also shares that Olmos had an enthusiastic appreciation for the material. “Eddie really loved pain and darkness. He was like, ‘Life is pain and hard.’ As bright a light as Eddie is, there was something he loved about trying to capture genuine darkness on film. I wrote a line for him [when he played Adama] that referenced going off to the bathroom to take a crap, and it was his favorite thing, because he was like, ‘People do! It’s real!’”

Hig Roberts, World Cup Alpine Skier, Comes Out as Gay

Hig Roberts, an American former World Cup alpine ski racer who skyrocketed to the top as a member of the U.S. National team, has come out as gay.

Roberts, who is the first U.S. Alpine Ski Team member and the first male World Cup alpine skier in the world to come out, opens up in an interview with Out about struggling with his sexual identity, how he felt “muted” by the Olympics organization, his evolution toward accepting himself, and what he believes needs to change in the world of sports to create a more inclusive environment for players.

"[Being in the closet] took away a lot of the experience and the joy I could have experienced during this life and that’s a shame,” Roberts tells Out. “I had moments of standing on the podium with national titles and still feeling depressed. I was almost in a daze because of the mental anguish I would feel. I had sleepless nights. I had anxiety attacks. I had big bouts of depression. I had to closet all of that from my teammates and my coaches.”

Viggo Mortensen suggests he’s not “completely straight” following gay role backlash

Due to his 11-year relationship with Spanish actress Ariadna Gil, Viggo – who makes his directorial debut with the film – has received criticism for playing an LGBTQ+ character.

In a recent interview with The Times, the star called the long-running debate over heterosexual actors playing LGBTQ+ roles a “healthy” one to have, but said he “didn’t think it was a problem” during the casting process.

“People then ask me, “Well what about Terry Chen, who plays my husband in the film, is he a homosexual?” And the answer is I don’t know,” he explained.

“I would never have the temerity to ask someone if they were. And how do you know what my life is? You’re assuming that I’m completely straight.”

Viggo went on to say: “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. And it’s frankly none of your business. I want my movie to work, and I want the character of John to be effective.

David Prowse, towering actor who played Darth Vader in 'Star Wars,' dies at age 85

David Prowse, the towering actor who terrified generations of movie-watchers as Darth Vader in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, has died at age 85.

He died after a short illness, his agent, Thomas Bowington, confirmed Sunday morning.

Prowse did not provide Vader's voice — that was James Earl Jones — but his muscular 6-foot-6 frame became the embodiment of one of the great movie villains.

Born in Bristol, England, in 1935, Prowse was a competitive weightlifter before he entered show business, winning the British heavyweight lifting championship three years in a row beginning in 1962. His bodybuilding prowess led him to become a personal trainer to various screen stars, including Christopher Reeve while he was preparing for "Superman."

Pope Francis’ Instagram account appears to ‘like’ bikini model’s photo

Oh, you devil!

A bikini model has claimed that Pope Francis’ Instagram account liked a racy photo of her dressed in stockings and suspenders.

Natalia Garibotto, 27, said the pontiff’s verified Franciscus account was among the 133,000 that “liked” an image of her standing at a school locker with a white crop-top and a skirt barely reaching her behind.

“My mum may hate my ass pics but the Pope be double-tapping,” the Brazilian joked with Barstool Sports, which also claimed to have seen the apparent papal seal of approval before it was removed.

Monsoon's Henry Golding Asked The Advocate: Is It OK to Play Gay?

In Monsoon, Henry Golding (Crazy Rich Asians) portrays Kit, a character that strongly resonates with his own experiences. Like Kit, Golding was born in an Asian nation and raised in the United Kingdom. He returned to his motherland as an adult feeling, oddly, like a stranger in "the place that you're meant to feel the closest to," Golding told The Advocate.

"It was putting myself back in those shoes of discovery," Golding recounted of his acting experience. He spent about three months in Vietnam for production wandering the streets of Saigon and Hanoi and, like Kit, learning the complicated history of the Vietnam-American war's legacy on a nation and its people.

However, there are several differences between Golding and Kit. The former was born in Malaysia, the latter in Vietnam, which the character's family fled as refugees after the war. Additionally, the former is straight, and the latter is gay. Kit's sexuality is not the centerpiece of the film by Hong Khaou (Lilting). But there are several sex scenes and, more importantly, a relationship that grows with Lewis (Parker Sawyers, Southside With You), an African-American man whose father fought in the war. He becomes an anchor for Kit in a place where he initially feels unmoored.
