Mask, The (1994)
A movie that succeeds in spite of its inanity. The effects still impress. Jim Carrey's comedic chaos mimic embodies and Cameron Diaz' unflinching bombshell elevate it. 02-Jul-2020
Night Clerk, The (2020)
Twink with alternative intelligence witnesses a crime. The crime is not its basis of joy but the performers are. The four (Hunt, Leguizamo, de Armas and Sheridan pull the right face, exhume the right emotions, and challenge anyone to do it better. 12-Jun-2020
Dangerous Lies (2020)
A windfall may or may not kill you. The beat (director) was persuasive, the concoction (writing) was unique, the conclusion was a letdown but I admired a lot of it. Camila Mendes was level and engaging. Jessie T. Usher was reckless asshole sublime and proud of it. 18-May-2020
Third Day, The (1965)
Can a man become an enlightened human if an accident causes him amnesia? Not if your mug is still wanted for murder.
George Peppard is grand business daddy, never demurring from blankness while still eliciting great face.
Elizabeth Ashley was privileged bitch wife, with an redemptive opportunity for love and a zestful beauty of another.
Sally Kellerman knew how to turn it on and shut men down.
Mona Washbourne elicited comic wit relief and parental heartbreak.
Roddy McDowell. The best cocksucker in Hollywood actually had other talents.
Arte Johnson crept trying to put a creepy face on a "love me" persona.
Music. It sounded like every summer blockbuster score rolled into one.
It's sumptuously over, to guiltily enjoy. 11-May-2020
Lobster, The (2015)
Couples rule in a post cruel world. If you don't find a mate they turn you into an animal. Its royal art of weirdness with little justification and a vivid imagination. Colin inherits a comedian's edge, puncturing the establishment in a catatonic state and making us laugh and cheer. Rachel Weisz keeps the heart of the film beating and Yorgos is crazy. 29-Mar-2020
Seven Brides For Seven Brothers (1954)
Men were men, maintaining the environment and women were the foundation of the home. Women complain and acquiesce; men do and expect. It was a time for falling immensely in love at first sight.. hearing about her... smelling her... he's fuckin' big. The cavemen are fuckable, idiotic and tamable. Except for the main and a purring pussycat the brides are an indistinguishable group. They desired less but they connived, demanded and bended it to their advantage like a future President. It's joyous to a fault especially when kidnapping little girls. The music no longer vibrates like it did but the hoofing was athletic muscularity. 20-Mar-2020
Henry Gamble's Birthday Party (2015)
The chains religion affixes on its followers and the opposition it judges.
Wine is the devil's blood.. desire is for cretins... the sins fade if you invoke his word by chanting it ceaselessly and mechanically, irritating anyone who hears it... skimpy leads to lust which leads to sex and maybe some joy... gay sex is the worst of all, they punish you for that... The film juggles all of it honestly.
Where there is fire there is wood, laying underneath elevating the flames while they smolder to ash. The Leftists awaken enough to overturn an honored twink's christian birthday party.
Everyone gets heard, everyone gets fed up and some actually become what everyone else can't... themselves.
To All The Boys I Loved Before 2 (2020)
The protagonists ease us in, the rehash disappoints and I wish the support could do more than hold the leads' walls. I wanted to engage in Lara Jean's and Peter's commitment. The fragility that Lara Jean exposed would, in the real world, bring her hurt. Cheating cannot be the only reason couples break up. I will continue to watch but it needs to consummate (not talking about sex.) 29-Feb-2020
I admire that it sheds light on the trials of a black muslim and the extra life limitations its religion bestows.
The crime was evolving into a story black Americans could relate to from a culture worth defining but ran out of gas.
The mystery is pretty tight.
The magic pushes it forward as much as it pushes it under.
Well done, I was in it and it got its point across...
but at end...
...it was hard to feel anything.
Respect. Keep cranking them. 27-Feb-2020
Night Before, The (1988)
Typical boy loses prom date which allows us to spend the night with him... retracing his steps. The details include rape, white slavery and violence. It really doesn't matter though... you watch because Keanu Reeves made a most huggable teen and Lori Loughlin struck with killer looks and scary everything else. 24-Feb-2020
To All The Boys I Loved Before (2018)
Teen romcom sweetness. 23-Feb-2020
Airport '77 (1977)
What it reserves in thrills it expounds in detail and raw film work. The pros lathered the soap like it was Shakespeare, it was diverse and actors were allowed to sweat. A movie that sits better out of its time. 21-Feb-2020
Long Weekend (1978)
Naturists get punished for victimizing nature. A scary environmentalist panty creamer. 05-Feb-2020
Downton Abbey (2019)
Everything was comfortable, a lot of it seemed sad, the cast set their acting dials high and that was a pittance. They also found a way to rebound from it. It was probably myself adjusting to it but they pulled off honoring their TV charisma. A charming fragrance that doesn't linger. 25-Jan-2020
Wound, The (2017)
Honoring male privilege while contesting the rules. The gay is treated as a natural conjecture that doesn't adhere to God's Plan but satiates a hungry soul. The men push God's Plan, diddle each other whenever possible and don't allow snot nosed effete city boys to put a label on it. The ending spells it out. 21-Jan-2020
