Our Little Secret (2024)

Lindsay Lohan made me realize why charismatic actors lose their mojo. Are they uncomfortable and think that everyone is going to judge every word they say? Yes. I want her to flare up again. She's almost there. She needs a challenge. My favorite fairy legend wastes her magic on shitty lines. If the writers have nothing valid for her to say, let her sing. Ian Hardy was a trip. I couldn't place him. He was that cutie asshole that always irked me, for sure. Of course, he was the perverted teacher that dated his underage students on PLL. Every time he smirked he resurrected a part of Norman Bates. The idea that a woman would want to keep that she dated a Darren Stephens the Second type a secret was astonishing. Just because it's fluff doesn't mean we shouldn't try to say something. 02-Dec-2024
Merry Men, The (2024)

There's more than stupidity going on here. The cast is amiable and hardworking. Britt is a misdiagnosed charmer. Prattes legs were mesmerizing, it's fun to see old witches again, Maxwell Caulfield's moment was a go daddy thing, Chad Michael Murray had the body, the robotics, enthusiasm and Farrah's hair. They derailed the "hate at first love" train and depicted how people really get together. I didn't stay for the pancakes but I waited for the bacon. Merry whatever the fucks! 25-Nov-2024
Challengers (2024)

A lucent cast gets drowned out by its subject. I am aware that tennis would be a big part of a movie about tennis but tennis is not the background but a star. All parts of the film were well done except talk was from a fried script. I don't remember any conversations but the tennis ones. All day, all night whilst fucking and parenting, was tennis talk. They didn't even comment about food. The pretties were intoxicating but their emotions were tied to twin words that cast no realistic feelings, singularity or empathy. I have no idea what the storytellers were conveying. Great music, though. 01-Oct-2024
Come And Get It (1936)

Lumber jack foreman secures a fortunate future by destroying the competition and engaging with the boss' daughter. Edward Arnold was boisterous, empathetic and in charge as the hero with huge aspirations but prone to trigger happy endings. The logging scenes were an educational interruption that impressed me. His engagement was sidetracked by a saloon singer that was as proud of her balls as he was of his future wife's. The meet/greet was cute and sometimes funny. His greed and her heartbreak was realized. He abandons girl and his bestie for success. He bears a son that is a tower of goodness, modernity and a cause for vapors. Hot as fuck. Daddy's reign allows us to eventually turn on him. Bestie accepts responsibility by honoring what women need. Years roll by, the children mature and foreman is a parasite king pin. Boss encounters his heartbreak's daughter and subjects her to creepy adventures that don't make sense. He showers her and her family repeatedly until they become one of their own but a switch of interest from our heroine forces the hierarchy to crack. Circumstances become pervy and desperate. I understood the desire but not the pain. An old classic that dared and a heroine that stood up for herself. 17-Sep-2024
Our Blushing Brides (1930)

Three working girls put their retirement on speed. The only way a woman could claim early retirement was to meet a man of privilege. The women were protective of each other and the men were perverse. The fate of all three women are different. By the end, the film relinquishes its madcap wit for serious drama. Joan Crawford was the big sister every friend needed. When lady Joan ignited, it was firecracker. Her character seemed to contradict herself, though. She couldn't succumb to a sexy one night stand with her dream date. Really? Dude, he had the most lavish treehouse ever. It had retracting stairs! And a view! Robert Montgomery was a pretty little thing that happenened to be the boss of the store the girls sold and modeled for. They wore new fashion to convince snobby zillas, they were attractive. Acting was pure, the funny had limits, and Lady Joan roared. 14-Aug-2024
Graduate, The (1967)

The film ponders thoughts of a future that exists against a romantic and sexual adventure. Besides the latin porn movies my parents took me to, this was my second time in a legit movie theatre. My lesbian aunt thought I should be exposed to art. I was embarrassed, though. The film rated higher than my intelligence. I did discover the secrets the adults were hiding and it was fascinating. Dustin Hoffman delivered cool vibes and technical practice. Anne Bancroft's controversial stamp is unmistakable. She was every straight boy's dream and every gay's nightmare. She established the cougar. She was to play Joan in Mommie Dearest but didn't. "What ifs" kept pouncing in my head. If Katherine Ross is nothing like her characters, I will cry. Talks are grown-up, defensive and obligatory. Direction is artistic and historic. 17-Jul-2024
Elemental (2023)

Sweetness and beauty interrupted by elemental disbelief. Ember only sets fire to certain things. The fire family moved to a town that operated like a water park. What happens when it rains? Fire affects rain and humidity. One of the fire people should have died in the flood. What are their clothes made of? Ember was lead on a floaty at Ripple's family water house and it didn't melt, pop or make her drown. It's a very nice movie that chose not to teach children a studied lesson. 03-Feb-2024
Maestro (2023)

Bradley Cooper is an uncanny Leonard Bernstein. The nose is art even though it makes Bradley nasal. Carey Mulligan is taught and achieving. She is the wife that halts her personal goals to stroke his. The genius is obsessed with calculating music and all boys pretty. The wife accepts and waits. Cooper positions the camera at different angles to add distraction to incomplete scenes. The film intellectualizes its subject and limits its margin. Dialogue is careful not to apply too many emotions to our lead for fear that they may not be true. It also, makes his actions appear nippy. Lovers come in and out of their lives without much exposition except beauty and sex. Mulligan is the film's disposition, Cooper is its center, the cast puts on an haughty appearance, everything is lush but the man remains an enigma. 22-Dec-2023
The More The Merrier (1943)

During WW2 there was a shortage of living space in America. Washington was doing its part by opening rooms for rent. The demand became high and cutthroat. There were more no vacanciy signs than opportunities. A man had to do what he had to do. An old man cons himself a room that belongs to an independent female. He had snowman personality, writer's wit and desperate charm. He was harmless and she was uptight, lonely and sold. Jean Arthur was a working gal and a component of liberation. Men were fighting and women were in charge and in demand. There were 8 girls for one boy. Charles Coburn has seen life and thinks that he can relax his roomie's anal retentiveness by giving her life adventure. The roommates had rifts and instances of sentimentality but things escalated once the old man rented his half of the room to a young serviceman without consent. Joel McCrea had little patience, was a straight shooter, doomed and a tall milkshake. He's seen worst than the old man and he just wants escape. Tensions roll out, a family is born and rules are broken. Silly and comforting. A Lucy Ricardo life without Ricky. Cute from top to bottom. 19-Dec-2023
Divorce (1945)

Sometimes women gained power through marriage and success after divorce. The film contemplates how a woman can abuse her independence. The divorcee in question decides to travel to her hometown to buy the man that got away. The man that got away is married with children and ignorantly content. Divorcee befriends married lady, latches on to her husband and touts him to rule the world. The man's wife registers as a doormat who accepts all of the husband's excuses and waits. The children are sad. The film is slight, signaling the constant worry a woman suffers to obtain and hold on to family or a man that others want. 07-Dec-2023
Not A Stranger (1955)

Stallone was The Robert Mitchum of his era but no one could beat Mitchum in his own. He had a back like Hulk, Rocky eyes and Superman's countenance. Mitchum wanted to become a doctor but couldn't afford it. His father was a drunk that drank his wife's suffering money and wasted their son's future. His medical student enrollment will be terminated if he doesn't pay his fee. Olivia de Havilland is the good nurse captivated by Dr. Hulk and exhibiting fangirl craze and saved up money. He is the distant thing that doesn't find her distracting but she's someone to talk to. He'd rather become a doctor. Olivia is an independent foreigner that mistakes his intentions of marriage as fairytale truth. He just wants to be a doctor. That's why he got drunk on his wedding night. Big man gains a god complex once his superiority is solidified and success follows. He believes that the medical profession needs to follow code, even though he breaks them at home. Olivia wants to start a family but the giant wants to fuck things he likes. Actor watt was at 100%. Olivia wrecked her accent and our hearts. Frank Sinatra was a hardy friend that tried to tame the hulk's rage. Anytime a surgical procedure went wrong bigback clobbered the shit out of the culprit, even if they were his boss. Doctor withstands life with a wife he's not absorbing and becomes a maniac doctor. Sympathy, miracles and delusions. How do you cure a god complex? Have him fail. Gloria Grahame was a Poison Ivy sketch ready to buckle a giant. Her lip liner was everything. Passionate mischief enacted with horses. Cute. 27-Nov-2023
Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (2023)

I've never met a Puerto Rican that talks like Miles. Even though he's half the race he would never retain his father's accent because no Puerto Rican mother would allow it. He lives like a Puerto Rican. By the way, we are more than platanos and empanadas. We also love pork, rice, fried everything, chicken, fish, beef, chinese food, lasagne, pizza, anything and beans. If the father is black and the mother is Puerto Rican where did the Morales name come from? Bad Bunny, Ricky Martin and Izzy from Love is Blind S5 are great examples of Puerto Rican speak. At least when white people did it they tried to sound like us. Peter Parker sounded like a dork flake. The first half abused a soundtrack that distorted musicology. It played like a 45 on repeat. Keeping up with the psychological speed was phenomenal, the art was crisp and when the musical score interrupted the playlist, it didn't suck. If your child itches, this is a classic, the others might become anxious. 02-Nov-2023
Little Mermaid (2023)

"I would have made Prince Eric an enslaved black royal on a slave boat that crashed in the sea. Black Ariel saves him but must fight a racist society to get him back to his tribe. If you're going to invest in a culture, invest. 06-Sep-2023
Halle Bailey is resplendent with no significant voice. The movie is not her fault. Javier Bardem created enough quake to make me want to suck his dick under the table. My apologies Lady Penelope, it's only a dream. Fish and birds suffered from unfortunate casting and drawing. Lady McCarthy was doing fake Brady Bunch Shakespeare with an SNL accent. Ok. If she actually sings like that why does she sing crappy in the commercials? Prince Eric sang only one song. Thank god! I would have never filmed that. Marshall had trouble imagining and most of the cast were confused. It's the best film Marshall has directed but it's hollow. 06-Sep-2023
Woman Possessed (1958)

A mother who has dedicated her whole life to making sure her son could take care of himself are reunited after two years of studying and accomplishing. He's a doctor, now and engaged to be married. His fiancee is with him and he's brought her along to marry. The introductions are awkward, full of rich people manners that can't mask hate. The conversations are human. Mother expounds an opinion that changes their lives forever. The couple bicker about how much control the mother has over her son and the backhanded humiliation future wife receives. Sometimes he was right, other times she was and half the time, both were. The mother blames the fiancee's weakness as to why she needs to suffer in her world. She was horrible when no one was around and she never let them see her sweat in a dress. The jury flip flops as did I. Uncle was cute, old maid was tired, of course, she had a mansion to clean, dress and cook for and young maid's exit was fucked up. The birthday party was a topper. The irony explains itself, the ladies were in good form and was that a lesbian ending? 22-Jul-2023
