Little Mermaid (2023)

"I would have made Prince Eric an enslaved black royal in a slave boat that crashed in the sea. Black Ariel saves him but must fight a racist society to get him back to his tribe. If you're going to invest in a culture. Invest. 06-Sep-2023
Halle Bailey is resplendent with no significant voice. The movie is not her fault. Javier Bardem created enough quake to make me want to suck his dick under the table. My apologies Lady Penelope, it's only a dream. Fish and birds suffered from unfortunate casting and drawing. Lady McCarthy was doing fake Brady Bunch Shakespeare with an SNL accent. Ok. If she actually sings like that why does she sing crappy in the commercials? Prince Eric sang only one song. Thank god! I would have never filmed that. Marshall had trouble imagining and most of the cast were confused. It's the best film Marshall has directed but it's hollow. 06-Sep-2023
Woman Possessed (1958)

A mother who has dedicated her whole life to making sure her son could take care of himself are reunited after two years, he's a doctor and engaged to be married. Mother is shocked at boy breaking mother monster bubble but he's in love. The introductions are awkward, full of rich people manners that can't mask hate. The conversations are human. Mother expounds an opinion that changes their lives forever. The couple bicker about how much control the mother has over her son and the backhanded humiliation future wife receives. Sometimes he was right, other times she was and half the time, both were. The mother blames the fiancee's weakness as to why she needs to suffer in her world. She was horrible when no one was around and she never let them see her sweat in a dress. The jury flip flops as did I. Uncle was cute, old maid was tired, of course, she had a mansion to clean, dress and cook for and young maid's exit was fucked up. The birthday party was a topper. The irony explains itself, the ladies were in good form and was that a lesbian ending? 22-Jul-2023
Babysitter, The (1969)

The wife, the babysitter, the lesbian daughter and her friends are fucking up daddy's high profile murder case. (Father is the assistant district attorney.) The parents are nearing retirement, they have a habit of filling 24 hour schedules so they don't have to look deeply at each other. His wife won't give him any because she has a 6 month old baby. It appears she didn't want another one. She hires a babysitter every night. The babysitter is a groovy chick that understands the dynamics of life. She also understood what men wanted from her. Daddy was a man whose lack of family appreciation drives him to free himself, return to earth and gain some respect. 07-Jul-2023
Hunchback OF Notre Dame, The (1996)

Laid out like an adult novel that kids can understand. There is no better marriage than broadway and Disney. The score may not be everlasting but it's made up of raw talent and emotion. The songs and singers soared. The animation splashed with celebratory colors while hellish fire represented its demise. Quasi is a molded adult broken by a murdered mother and a crippled body. He is adopted by the man who wronged him, controlled him and gaslit the kid to hide the monster inside of himself. The subjects are very adult. The adoptive father rules the town with sexual and racist motivation. Gypsies are taking over. The crime rate is through the roof and they are to blame. A Festival of Fools sets up the threads that make all the characters intersect for a grande finale. The monster convinces himself he can attend. A military captain has just been initiated. Esmeralda seduces all the men with her gypsy dance and her unapologetic heart. Evil master Frollo becomes obsessed with dominating her. The good men compete with each other to protect her. Everything is big, everything is right but it begged for a slow down. I know, the kiddies would've exploded in their seats but the adults might have watched it again. It's not the best but it's unique. 04-Jun-2023
3,000 Years Of Longing (2022)

It seems like a private joke to portray different languages without captioning them. The more times the movie lines or references are repeated the more we can understand and retain it. It's an educational tool. The descriptions fall mainly on Elba who portrays a physically commanding djinn with poetic romanticism with no woman to match him. Swinton's acting nuances become mismatched ticks. Queen of Shiba's story was the most interesting only because the actress portraying her provided model fabulosity. The leads remain within bottle safety throughout. The effects don't want to intrude on realism but that's what the story is about. I wanted to see Elba mixing spells, looking dashing or at least happy and having a magic ball while reciting Shakespeare with Lady Tilton. 23-May-2023
Adam Had Four Sons (1941)

It zipped through chapters as if only one page was allowed for each. They wasted Ingrid Bergman's haloed face and Susan Hayward's whiskey voiced bad girl. 19 year old governess develops feelings for a grandpa daddy, his perfect boys and ailing wife. The boys become attached and she becomes like family. She weaves in and out of their lives spanning years of separation. She returns to some really handsome adult sons and never aging grandpa for no reason other than a promise and bottled up hope. The brothers are fighting the war and a brother has brought a disruption into their home. Susan Hayward is that thing that keeps it chaotic while laughing about it. I didn't know it was a custom, in the 1900's, for women to kiss men on the mouth willy nilly. It was so ahead of its time I couldn't stop laughing. She made out with grandpa or any attractive man or boy that looked her way. She marries one, seduces another and maybe another until it becomes deadly. It squeezed too much history and information to empathize with and the bitch showdown consisted of Ingrid Bergman packing the whore's clothes and maybe shoving her down the stairs. 20-Apr-2023
Random Harvest (1942)

Old ex warmonger escapes a military asylum housing him because of amnesia. Can a man with no signature or memories lead a happy life? Greer Garson seems to think so. She is patient, overprotective and decisive. Ronald Colman plays the lost man as a terminally ill person that has little time to appreciate smiles and good memories. Mama Garson strips Colman of his insecurities by putting him on a pedestal. Ronald Colman breaks the spell by having another accident. He keeps rebooting. He remembers before the war but not afterwards. Garson, who? Luckily, he comes from prestige and the world is open to him. He has family, position, respect and a niece with baby's breath. The teen was efficiently smart. If she seduces him now she can easily unstitch for him later, when she's legal. The girl keeps declaring that he's not really her uncle. (Then, why does she keep calling him that?) His new past enters his present to prove to him that she is the only thing in his life worth remembering. I am not sure the logistics were accurate but the story considered many outcomes and Greer Garson was a stunner. She turned her stone diamond persona into bouncy balloons. I couldn't stop studying her. 29-Mar-2023
My Man Godfrey (1936)

I watched a fair colored version of it. It has no Lucy vibrance but it's preferable. Rich people are game hunting homeless people for $5.00. Homeless man with a magnificent vocabulary impresses one of them into a job. He becomes a butler of a household that is run by women who are vulnerable to masculinity. A woman who despises him is bested by her woke sister. She charismatically barbs with him with mind hate and body lust, good sister becomes insane and mother is madly impressed. Oh no! The maid is getting the flutters. Crap, she likes daddy, too! The mother has a Spanish mentor that eats more than he performs. William Powell hides a secret. He is more astonishing than he appears. In color you could see the twinkle that made women swoon. His elegance adds to it. Carole Lombard kept going in and out of consciousness. The family is wacko. The men are freed and entrapt at the end. 07-Mar-2023
Fablemans, The (2022)

Spielberg shares his origins with humor, movie magic and insight. Michelle Williams stands out as a Tinkerbell mom who needs to live out a fairy dust life. The kids are natural. The cast members embraced their profession and delivered. Steven created a nice flow. It is only when you get to the end that you appreciate what transpired. 07-Mar-2023
This Woman Is Dangerous (1952)

History lends the movie charm. Joan's precision was in full bloom. A gangster's mole with looks of steel, going blind. A jealous gangster can't fathom his girlfriend going out of town to get her eyes fixed. A doctor that performs miracles and spits sunshine saves her. Romance ensues as he keeps spitting sunshine and performing miracles to encapsulate her. Boyfriend heads towards her destination as the clouds start rolling by. He's rampaging, killing everything that gets in his way, even the sun. It drools and pants more than it deserves but Joan is a centerpiece worth watching. She saved the day by using woman's most cherished accompaniment, her purse. She was so focused that she portrayed blind even when she could see. Why isn't she looking at the other actors? She keeps looking towards us. Who the fuck is she talking to? She dotes on doctor's adorable child like she meant it! The crime drama finds movement at the end but the melodrama sort of killed it. 28-Feb-2023
Your Place Or Mine (2023)

Antipathy between lead actors destroys chemistry and longevity. I heard Clark Gable had toxic breath, yet it didn't stop Vivian Leigh from tonguing him down. 20-Feb-2023
Red Rocket (2021)

It's one of the last movies on your must-see list. It approaches it's subject organically. Simon Rex, gay boy of our dreams, plays an ex-demi-god porn star of abundance who can fuck almost any troubled girl into doing things for him. Homeless and violated Rex makes it to his ex-wife, mother-in-hillbilly-law and an old life he escaped. He's constantly explaining himself and piling the lies to establish false hope. Our marbled eyed daddy churns money to subside the women's rage and win their respect back. Ex-wife pokes him once or twice for old and new times sake. Mama likes the money. Daddy meets a teenage queen who will resurrect his stamina and spark less Viagra use. That's fucked up for everybody. She is also the ticket for his porn comeback. Ex-pretty boys who become hotter daddies will get fucked and "fucked!" Simon Rex is a rocket. In need of a fix and not caring who knows it. He's lit the whole time. The cast was natural and diverse and most of all, integrated. I immediately identified. 26-Jan-2023
Falling For Christmas (2022)

The good news: LL got her mojo back, the bad news: it's a stinker.
Oops, this is the poster for the sequel. 18-Nov-2022
Where The Crawdads Sing (2022)

Entertainment has wrung art dry. The artists are burdened with inciting memories of great historical art and erasing them, lest the audience think they pilfered them to bring a manipulative story to the screen. You can tell the director was probably very cool headed because a household with that much violent disarray would include more horrific things. Marsh girl would have turned out a creature less human instead of a starving foreign exchange student. Daisy Edgar Jones flattens the character by not bringing star charm to a mimicking portrayal. See Sandra Dee and Troy Donahue. Even when they couldn't act, they glowed with excitement and saved a crappy movie. Her ascension to sophistication is questionable. Either her mother had a great wardrobe or girl was doing something besides chucking clams. Also, why didn't she just eat the clams? The owners of the grocery store were inspired by a very special episode of "Little House On The Prairie" featuring the blacks. A little wild girl living all alone in the swamp would attract a lot of perversion. She couldn't read but she picked up on romance real quick. She flew into her "first" kiss. How did she know? What kind of nice daddy was hers before he booked? Why was she surprised to experience Tate Walker's natural findings in the swamp? Wouldn't she have discovered it whilst being the swamp? The crime and the courtroom boredom that follows had me eye rolling. The film is a cheer for womanhood but not art. It's a facsimile. I wanted to feel something. I am a man, after all. The ending knocked it out of the park but so did Harris Dickinson, to no avail. 16-Nov-2022
A Doll's House (1973)

A woman moving in with a man must turn the home into a dollhouse in order to make her feel like she owns it. She owns him as much as he thinks he owns her, but a toy is the only home she will ever get to own. The cast played it without pity, the story excelled as it moved, even though status has changed, emotions remain the same and Jane Fonda flexed some beautiful muscles. Freedom comes after you stop lying to yourself. A real Christmas story. 17-Oct-2022
