Ornithologist, The (2016)
I can admire nature and ogle the choice of men but the film required an explanation. 19-Nov-2018
Prick Up Your Ears (1987)
Alfred Molina suffocates in gay insecurity and Gary Oldman glides into indulgeness. The film celebrates gay life as much as it warns us about knuckling to its darkest tendencies. 23-Jun-2018
Wedding Banquet, The (1993)
Ang Lee introduces us to an Asian culture bountiful in beauty, tradition, family, support and sustenance. Gay pretense is consequential as much a lifestyle and Lee's straight irony keeps it bathed in honesty. 09-Jun-2018
4th Man Out (2016)
Rumpled squish comes out to his manful bros and anxious family. Every time you think it will go where it shouldn't, it reins itself in and makes them ask the questions we would ask in real world. It's about accepting and upholding the people we assert to love by being the examples. 19-Feb-2018
All points deliberated do not resolve any of the film's potential because they don't connect. It's a thriller about us, but we are so insistent and interfering you might have to side with the homophobe. 03-Jan-2018
Beautiful discarded youth. The film is neither perky or pretty. Its purpose is to supply oxygen to an ugly truth. You can look away to establish your purpose or look back so you can help fix it. 11-Dec-2017
We party like children, we fuck like it’s historically relevant and we crash in tragedy.
The titillation dissipates as soon as these diverse and brave men lament in a society hellbent on cementing themselves to a merry-go-round that hasn't gotten us anywhere.
They grabbed me. 10-Dec-2017
It poses and theorizes much of raising gay in a black ghetto. It takes three performers to unlock a full picture of Chiron and Kevin. Chiron's transitions are seamless but Kevin's last doesn't match the last two. All the rivet is found in the earlier chapters as the last has run out of questions to answer and as an influential black gay exposition it never allows us to bask in the beauty of the two men whose existence seems to be in commingling. If you were expecting more from Mahershala Ali's award winning performance (as I was) you will be disappointed. He is solid but the award was compensation as he isn't present or important to most of the movie. 19-Mar-2017
Broken Hearts Club, The (2000)
It's a clean bar of soap with an array of actors blowing the right amount of bubbles as the writing and directing guide them with exactness. Sweet. 01-Feb-2017
Do I Sound Gay? (2014)
