Paddington 2 (2018)
The more disbelief you suspend the higher the flight when it takes off. Hugh's broadness is wide, Paddington's reasoning wears thin but the artful care keeps it vivid. 06-Oct-2019
Mary Poppins Returns (2018)
I had to quit. Just when I was getting accustomed to the hyper tension, they sang. 25-Sep-2019
Boys In Trees (2016)
Rekindling a bromance. There were so many elements that could have thrust the story forward but the director was so intent on a surprise ending that his magic tricks don't total rationality. It's underhanded. The film relies heavily on Toby Wallace, whose star endowment keeps it flowing and wrings the only emotion at end. 23-Sep-2019
I don't understand why turning from a kid to an adult makes you goofy, especially if the youngster displays no sign of it. The corn and rah almost dismisses its significance but its ease and audacity of violence clinches it. 22-Sep-2019
Christopher Robin (2018)
Awakening childhood dreams with a smile, a little magic and a lot of heart. 03-Sep-2019

The formula quickly evaporates. It's title elicits more excitement. 29-Jun-2019
Calamity Jane (1953)
The tunes are zippy, the production is cartoony and energized but the whole is detached from reality. It's overcompensating for a loss. 18-Jun-2019
Matrix Reloaded, The (2003)
Amped up but incomplete. 12-Jun-2019
Matrix, The (1999)
It maintains its relevance because it sounds like truth. It ripped the adventure sport apart, it stamped itself fresh repeatedly and we were overtook with joy and appreciation for the artistry of clean work. From kool to kickass is the process. 11-Jun-2019
Banger Sisters, The (2002)
There should never be romantic notions about being a groupie. The legends wrestle through the mess, but a mess is a mess.
(Worst makeover ever.) 07-Jun-2019
Grinch, The (2018)
The cuteness is impossible, the voices don't fit and I couldn't make it pass the first song. 07-Jun-2019
Modern Problems (1981)
Its point is to be mean-spirited and indifferent.
(Chevy gets points for his gams.) 06-Jun-2019
I Love Melvin (1953)
A bubblegum dream and a hoofer's delight. Debbie Reynolds' football dance is incredulous arduous training and Donald O'Connor is a foot master. 05-Apr-2019
Princess And The Frog, The (2009)
It's a sumptuous celebration of black heritage in animation. When the frogs are introduced it hazes the celebration. It becomes more about frogs and less about culture. 21-Mar-2019
Mars Needs Moms (2011)
The idea may need patchwork but the presentation is a realistic animated joy. The heart beats when the art moves forward. 18-Mar-2019
