Batman: Caped Crusader (2024-)
Serious recreation without inserting creative personality entertainment. Catwoman in a dress is just a drag queen with no sense. Madame Penguin felt gimmicky and in-comprehensive. It's a drastic change of character without a strong backstory to explain it. Couldn't she become The Hen? The Headless Horseman storyline was enough to make the Scoobies snicker. I thought Batman would be more realistic about it. Batman would never tolerate a fat Alfred wheezing into his ear pieces. They turned Harley Quinn into a deck of cards. The ones we never play with. There was not enough clay on Clayface. He's skin and bones and not squishy at all. It toes the line between realism and magic when all it needs is costumes, gadgets and genius. 04-Sep-2024
Pokemon Concierge (2023-)
It was so cute it lulled me to sleep. That's okay, I'll keep rewatching it until it finishes. 04-Jan-2024
Merry Little Batman (2023)
The main vocals were experimenting and setting themselves apart. Actors don't have to sound like another actor's iteration but they must ponder the psychology and physicality of their characters to achieve evolution. Batman and Joker sucked. Poison Ivy passed by a hair. Joker plots to steal Christmas a la you know who, Batman is indisposed but his child can become him to save Gotham. The action was rollercoaster, the art was crude and the meaning got lost. 17-Dec-2023
What If...(2021-)
The concept was fully established in the first episode where something we never expected, thrilled us. The second episode crashed by demoting Black Panther to Star-Lord status. Who the fuck wants to be Star-Lord? 29-Aug-2021
Marvel's M.O.D.O.K. (2021-)
It's asking a brat to enter the Marvel Universe and wreck it. It works. 02-Jun-2021
Animaniacs (2020-)
I don't have the missing brain cells to understand it or finish it. 28-Nov-2020
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
The old fossil envisioned the future better than Sci-fi movies could. Lesbian (Peppermint Patty) imposes herself on sex confused Charlie Brown for Thanksgiving. Even though the underdog (CB) has plans with grandma he doesn't want to disappoint his friends and so with a little help from his cohorts, he concocts a non-traditional dinner. Linus is Anderson Cooper quoting the bible and mythological news with acid humor. Lucy is my sister. Marcie is waiting for Peppermint Patty to ask her out and cut the CB crap. Sally is my angel. Snoopy is the perverted relative or friend that would perform out of this world feats and lick your kids' faces during commercials. The bird was his underaged twink. Ok, I don't like Snoopy. He always took the reality out of the lesson and fuck him for hiding that turkey. Franklin was invited, sat at the table and was gender-identified. It was progress. You get to sit at the table. Good for you. Don't waste it. The lessons were sweet and the babies are classic. Good memories cause us no harm. 26-Nov-2020
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous (2020)
There aren't that many surprises left in Jurassic World but this is a nice bumpy ride. The dinosaurs were majestic and the kids grew on me. It's kiddie but allows an adult to visit the adorable place in their heads where all can go except stoned Uncle Bill. 08-Oct-2020
Little Mermaid Live, The (2019)
The detail I most remember from "The Little Mermaid," was how her hair moved. If you can't establish an artistic craft to convey that, the art is lost. She flew when she needed to swim.
My treasure list:
I haven't seen so much visible invisible wire since "I Love Lucy." Decorating them might have helped
The octaves were lower than the crowd cheer. Amplification was a problem
A hologram of the improbable fish might have sufficed instead of plastic muppets
Graham Philips proved a singing alpha as Auli'i Cravalho expressed hard work
John Stamos' cook was destined to fail even if he had done it in a thong
Shaggy was feeling the beat but something spooked him and he started whispering
You shouldn't stumble. Even a shark shows grace underwater
Having the cartoon enact emotions whilst the live mostly sang is lazy
A commercial that has the audience fleeing to watch the beloved classic is born. Magic! 08-Nov-2019
Kiss Me First (2018-)
Mental disparity, a God complex and game/life correlation. The cast broods accordingly, the art prettifies the depression but the conclusion sticks with serial tropes. It forgets to embrace fun which is why we play games to begin with. 28-Jul-2019
Love, Death & Robots (2019)
It doesn't allow you much prep time. It dives right into the action (with mixed results) but the eye is warped to the land of innovative technical wizardry and it magnetizes. 26-Mar-2019
Happy! (2017-)
Sometimes we need to take a trip to the land of fantastic in order for reality to sink in. The balls are unbreakable. 19-Dec-2018
A Christmas gift that explodes. 16-Dec-2018
It's high on a drug that doesn't exist. Nothing/everything makes sense. I stick with it because I want to see the child saved and because messy daddy keeps it angry and moving riotously. 27-Nov-2018
Frosty The Snowman (1969)
He was the adult our parents didn't want to be. 11-Dec-2018
The zippiest of the Christmas jingles and it fits the most story in its 25 minutes. 12-Dec-2017
Star Wars Rebels (2014 -2018)
It respected the original material, voiced it beautifully and the mythology added a punch to the Star Wars Universe. The geek points sum up "the force" where the films could only preach it. 08-Mar-2018
It delivers on the promise of throwback and mythology aside. You'll still believe. 18-Nov-2015
Mysticons (2017-)
I can respect the progress by shifting the roles of the sexes but I can't follow the story because I'm too aware its a cartoon. Its strictly for the kiddies.
I duh’d myself. 21-Feb-2018
