Squid Game (2021)

S2 is missing something. Impact. A feeling of exhaustion permeated and interrupted some of the proceedings. The games didn't rivet, the cast was stereotypically goofy, compassion was limited and sense started to drag. The ship shenanigans didn't have closure or purpose. I presume the save will be last minute in S3. Thinking you can overtake a heavily guarded facility is ludicrous. In life I doubt that a majority of people would choose to die. I wanted to see people go home. Why doesn't anyone hook up? A grab and a rub here and there wouldn't hurt. How do the men deal with morning wood? I'm losing empathy. 04-Jan-2025
If you can't afford happy things, you become bitter, if your are unable to provide, you become addicted and if you can't eat, you die. It's called poverty. A group of instinctual individuals are given the opportunity to have their financial struggles resolved. They have to play children's games that are only safe in rhythm but not rhyme. If you lose, you die. If you win, it's a lot. The characters are specific, writing is a brainstorm and the whole is an abundance of I've never seen anything like this before. 07-Oct-2021
S1E7. The VIPs were from Palm Springs. 05-Oct-2021
S1E4. I am petrified and addicted. 01-Oct-2021
Designing Women (1986 - 1993)

The characters are strong, the funny keeps you laughing, the writing was pensive, passionate and controversial, the originals were fabulous and a black man in a girl's dress is always funny. Once Suzanne and Charlene depart the sizzle and purpose is gone. A talented trio of actors become shadows of the characters they were replacing without a voice of their own. The fatter Delta Burke got the funnier she became. You can feel the antagonism in the writing though. She was saddled with savage criticism and disdain but her talent was her shield. We could have done with less Julia fits but nobody could sell it like Dixie Carter. She was legs, elegance and conviction. Annie Potts liberated herself and her character. She sounded like she could give birth to a McConaughey. Jean Smart aced dumb and won our hearts. The last two seasons are somber and desperate. TG Alice Ghostley and Mr. Taylor are there to be irreverent and hilarious. 30-Dec-2024
Diplomat, The (2023-)

They saved the best for last and her name was Allison Janney. Calling Keri out on her locks was everything I was mentally bitching about. It was enough to shut me up. The season was a cyclone of talent that kept it grandiose. Giyasi is still fuckable and in-charge, Ato gave Stuart human qualities that rendered the character emotionally available, pretty face returned to play the perfect foil to Keri's harried Kate and I forgot that Ali Ahn can act. She was liquid butter. I normally want to squeeze Kinnear's face but his transformation into a scumbag made me respectfully afraid. Keri was the queen holding court and fighting battles like a mama wrecker. The only politic I need. 07-Nov-2024
Kerri Russell rules, the cast is appeasing and her husband is a beautiful daddy-banana distraction. Keri mama wrecks with intelligence, comic skills and a "who gives a fuck attitude." The sense of humor traverses beyond the obvious and bare feelings are portrayed to fulfillment. We were allowed inside the pocket as opposed to watching from a distance. Bless Keri and David Gyasi for creating sparks out of a modern cliche. Whoa, for Gyasi's fabulous sister entertaining the male wife like Scarlett O'hara. He acted like James Bond. Ali Ahn's ulterior motives are aggressive but sweet to her waring partner. Rory Kinnear adds great face, acting chops and the right amount of Tom foolery. The cast is funny and subscribing, the story is sorting and building. I hope the bombing is a surprise. (It was.) 24-Apr-2023
Shogun (2024)

Powerhouse acting, words on defense and beauty on blast. It was a poem about life. Fighting for faith is not the same as fighting for yourself. Freedom depends on that acknowledgment. Cosmo Jarvis had Ryan Phillippe looks and a great butt but he didn't need them. His eyes sparkled with information and coquetry. His voice, manly and protective. His gestures great and small. He also supplied some of the funniest bits. Hiroyuki Sanada was kingly. He cast vibrations just being. The writers understood that Anna Sawai was representing historical heritage. They made sure that her empowerment was befitting to her surroundings and that she apply it. Boy, did she ever. Suffering makes a hero, conviction makes a fighter and death equals longevity. The squad was perfection. 23-Apr-2024
E9. Mariko's heroism and heartbreak puts every female superhero actress to shame. 22-Apr-2024
Eventful television. 23-Mar-2024
White Lotus, The (2021)

I didn't know Coolidge had more acting tricks up her sleeve. The lady was hiding a cowgirl and the funniest stunt woman, ever. The jump was everything. Will Sharpe expressed himself beautifully and he showed some thigh. Aubrey Plaza remained steady and to the back. Fahey and James remained fake versions of themselves and didn't express anything besides animal instinct. It was shocking, on point and masterclass. 12-Dec-2022
My favorite Wednesday Addams, of all time, is Aubrey Plaza. She became a bitch when her mother, Morticia, started boiling everything and aunt Lester lost her hair. Theo James is a fuck kill. Coolidge is being treated like a goddess by the gays and I hope she lets them have it. Hale Lu Richardson is Florence Pugh's Eve. Will Sharpe has to explain himself or show more thigh. Fahey is a rain of artificial sunlight. Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham play a perfect father and son team that identify but don't accept that one begat the other. They fear their beautiful youngling will inherit their sad fate. The bigger you lie, the better the marriage but by then, the soul is gone. Female sexual harassment in the workplace, men expressing the difficulty in containing themselves, the sexes exploiting that, intelligent words coming out of fine actors and a director that provides the vision he describes. 30-Nov-2022
Mike White delivers an itchy script full of descriptive characters and awkward situations. The luscious atmosphere is reduced by human mania and overcompensation. Jennifer Coolidge cracked my funny bone, tore my heart and was masterclass as a woman acquiring power by being weak. Murray Bartlett played an outrageous gay asshole with ridiculous tendencies. Jake Lacy was pure alpha as a newlywed lord ruling over his petty wife. Molly Shannon whipped up a venomous mother-in-law from hell. Steven Zahn and John Gries gripped man sensibilities. Connie Britton and Alexandra Daddario convinced me. Natasha Rothwell spilled her heart and Jolene Purdy split my stitches. The teens were beautifully vacant, troubled, witty and intoxicating, just like vacations. 19-Aug-2021
I've Got A Secret (1952-1967)

You know you are hooked on greatness when the picture looks crappy but the content is gold. 23-Mar-2022
Euphoria (2019-)

The music represents the burden of being a child and the parent who never considers it. Younglings fight pain by listening to adults in pain without it causing distress or an ironic thought. Specified music with taste and glory. 12-Mar-2022
The creator drops his characters into a hole where the act of falling stops when they reach up. The actors succumbed and conquered. Z broke my heart. The writing spun out of control because that is the consequence of addiction. It pounds us with fists throughout then pummels us with pillows at the end. The season finale was a bitter "Glee" spectacle. 12-Mar-2022
Misfits are created when the understanding of being born is confounding.
Each episode incorporated a distinct flavor that elevated character development and story arc. The whole is a buoyant and succulent melange.
The writing was sharply on edge, the directors' wings were boundless and the actors (especially Z) rose to every unforgiving task.
Z's parade at finale was unexpected, deserved, joyous and brilliant. The music speaks. 01-Sep-2019
The carnival episode was a modern Hitchcock delirious delight. Zen's etch of a drug addict cuts deep. 31-Aug-2019
Etching a recognizable world and stripping Zendaya of Disney cuteness. Feels like home. 28-Aug-2019
All Of Us Are Dead (2022-)

S1E5. A virus apocalypse has erupted in high school. The younglings are fighting for their lives whilst the adults are saving face by not prioritizing them. It's a metaphor for the insignificance of "future first" if the safety of viable people in the present is not a consideration. The younglings can't blame cultural suppression, sexual confusion or identity as a source of teen angst and school bullying. They are all at the same level. Their souls are their weakness or their strength. The virus is simply explained as a Frankenstein complex. Boys can be whatever they want as long as they learn to survive it. The action is relentless. I was surprised and delighted how imaginative expression can be. The younglings earn our hearts by decoding survival skills and being kids. It's horror art. 02-Feb-2022
Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970-1977)

S7E12. Ted is sexually harassed and Mary and Murray tease him into temptation. A man asks Murray out for a date. 24-Oct-2021
S7E7. The only way to deal with a gifted child is to beat the crap out of him. 17-Oct-2021
S7E6. Ted describes The Happy Homemaker as a pig in a trough on broadcast news. 15-Oct-2021
S7E4. How Mary, Lou and genius handle a "woke" feminist hired as a sportscaster even though she is unqualified and doesn't respect management. 15-Oct-2021
S5E21. Mary rocks stripper gear and a prostitute teaches Georgette how to call business clients "tricks". 11-Mar-2021
S5E7. The episode where Betty White outcunts Bea Arthur. 24-Jan-2021
S4E8. Grandmas get horny too. 24-Dec-2020
S4E5. Super silver daddy with big brother ass wears hooker pumps to work. Yum! 23-Dec-2020
S4E1. Before Betty White drowned us in honey she perfected an empowered slut known as "The Happy Homemaker." She is introduced during one of Mary's lousy parties in which Phyllis' husband takes her home and almost never returns. The affair is handled with aplomb. A well versed human rights campaigner versus an eager and empowered cunt. The ladies are fabulous, Mary has the best solution and Teddy/Aquaman was delicious. 20-Dec-2020
S3E17. Classic sex identification episode. It's Mary's first party, Georgette is on hand to steal it and Rhoda is dating Phyllis' brother whose meant for Mary. The adult banter is resplendent, the emotions are on cue and the acting is sublime. 05-Dec-2020
The better Mary's hair gets, the more brilliant the show. 26-Nov-2020
S1E22. The origin of twinks. 04-Nov-2020
Class Act. 21-Jul-2017
Sex Education (2019-)

The writing and production are so rich in character that you can't fault any of its moves. 02-Oct-2021
Its second season gained confidence, borrowed too many scenarios from prior shows without adding a twist of their own and blended too much do goodness and sentimentality. Almost every love relationship arc included a threesome and every reality was punished. Aimee's bus dilemma was its strongest but it should have questioned whether it was a big deal because the friends made it so. The actors and the education are still on point but I believe the show traded in its balls for eggs. 24-Jan-2020
Misfits auditing, recognizing, practicing and adapting. When the concept grows on you, it tugs in all the right places. 25-Apr-2019
Elite (2018-)

Sexy gorgeous creatures don't preach, they do. 04-Jul-2021
The beautiful ones return in high style and peak bloom.
Fluidity is tunneled, pummeled and charged. The freedom to inherit all relationship prospects is an elite politic that facilitates mass hurt because the kids that invented it are incapable of successfully mastering it. They're human.
The parents do as Oprah taught them and heal most of their miracles' hemorrhage with gifts and money.
The beauties confusing the system to reclaim justice was resplendent.
The mystery continues and concludes, the ones are masters of bitchiness and heartbreak and the thread is reinforced nylon. Brava! 29-Mar-2020
The season was mapped mathematically and it hit every point. The actors are snug in their roles and stamping their characters. The drama makes you talk to yourself, the police work is thought out and everything looks delicious. Cool as fuck. 23-Sep-2019
They represent with no restraints and the teens are regarded with soul. The societal menace is heavier, coddling is out and the hurt is overwhelming. They are fighting a world adults complicated with wee survival skills. Beauty is diverse and it lingers because the writers keep tearing at it. 23-Nov-2018
Little Fires Everywhere (2020)

Washington ached, Witherspoon gutted, daddy Jacks wrecked and the children revolted. The writing did not relinquish the exasperation caused by raising a family by impossible standards. Blanching racism with hypocritical correctness does not a solution create. The most difficult job on the planet is being a mother because every mistake, detracts years of happiness from their children's future. Good job. 22-Apr-2020
A mother's lifelong conundrum is why their kids don't want to be here. (I know! The world you brought us into sucks and you don't allow us to talk about it.)
A mother is always a better parent to someone else.
Reese's contentious rejection of her daughter's sexuality induced audience shudders of deviant delight.
Kerry Washington held her own with her child confrontation and then exploded into Olivia Pope during her court scene. Nice.
The racism resonated, the angst maturely handled, everyone glowed, everyone spoke and I listened. 15-Apr-2020
A young Mia and Elena are introduced with a backstory strong enough to hold its present walls. Young Elena struggles to convey Reese but only because young Reese has been downloaded to our memory banks. Young Mia is studious, observant, respectful and an uncanny joy because she's a pitch and tic perfect Kerry Washington that elicits the heart that older Mia lost. Writing was solid. 09-Apr-2020
A mama cold war, a class distinction an intellectual race riot. It theorizes that women only need to act like a mother to push the children through life. It states that racism's hypocrisy, sensitivity and overreaction will never mend it. The children are at a loss serving as parental investments of an unsettled future while practicing what they learn from them as much as what they hate.
Kerry Washington threw her TVQ out the window to portray a most questionable mother with a permanent scowl on her face, a confrontational outlook and some sort of mental instability. Witherspoon is the mother whose charity she thinks will excuse her parental ditto. She peels enough layers to inform us that she rationalizes that racism is wrong but the safety of her family comes first.
The baby drama is the new focal point and it may be its drawback. The coincidence was grand and mama Mia had no business offering a co-worker, who abandoned her baby, money that would have been better suited for her own daughter. It makes her hard to like.
It's nagging, addictive and igniting. 26-Mar-2020
A Christmas Carol (2019-)

The legend of Scrooge modernized for a realistic mind.
It could've done with some trimming but it still shined.
Guy Pearce dashes, preys and rips as Scrooge. He deduces everything and everyone but himself. His softness towards animals was clever and the "humbugs" were well-earned.
Vinette Robinson (Mary Cratchit) deserves kudos for supplying it with its heart and its threat.
Joe Alwyn had passionate battles with Scrooge that eclipsed the baby blues.
The modern is simple. Scrooge represents every blogger with a gripe that can no longer concede to ideology...the spirits are the influencers, the magic makers and the Gladys Kravitz.' "Bully that man until he burns to the ground or apologizes."
The clues unlock in gift boxes. The heart was put in all the right places. Surprising the viewer with a repetitive tradition is no easy task. Respect.
We all have a Scrooge that we are safe from whilst we live on the other side. It's getting harder to stay there. 22-Dec-2019
Dick Van Dyke Show, The (2017) - in color

Van Dyke made silliness a class act and proved a physically hilarious man. Mary reacts adroitly. The writers wrote with a maturity that should have stuck. Sublime. 16-Dec-2018
They were the modern standard and what should have become key to finding bliss by representing a rational, respectful and a well-informed married couple.
The color is candied and the tribute to Mary, yum. 24-Dec-2017
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1996-2003)

The best because I may never anticipate an assurance of excellence. 23-Nov-2018
