After the 136th failed and waste of attempt to establish a LTR with a man, my mother exclaimed that it doesn't seem boy on boy relationships work. After more than 30 years of fighting it, I gave up and concurred. Every gay man wants one, few achieve it and many of us have no fucking idea how to score it. Sometimes I feel our legacy is just loving puppies and swallowing dick. 14-Jan-2020
Unsettling, The (2019-)
It does not unsettle because there is no intrigue, sharp scare edits or anything besides Holly Taylor to give a damn about. 13-Jan-2020
Invaders From Mars (1986)
Tobe and company add too much silliness to the story, the aliens look like ugly toys you win for free and the only alien needed was underutilized (Louise Fletcher.) She knows scary. 31-Dec-2019
Beach Rats (2017)
The lengths gay boys will meander to discharge closeted sex and remain doped. A waste of pretty with nothing relevant to say. 29-Dec-2019
Postcards From London (2018)
Whores assessing that man needs art to turn on. It's an excuse for filmic art to celebrate human art (Harris Dickinson) but it doesn't know how. 03-Jan-2020
Venus In Furs (1969)
Hot stuff (James Darrin) obsesses over dead girl. Like the drugged out haze it was written and directed in, the film lingers on aspects that make it boring. It was bold to include an interracial couple and lesbians romping freely but the sex scenes consisted of a man's back against a woman's catlike nails on repetition. Giving Barbara McNair the insufferable title song hurt her vocal chords and our ears. By the end, you'll feel as misplaced as James Darrin. 20-Dec-2019
Mutations. It's a well served platter with no additives or dessert. I wanted to eat from Gina Rodriguez' buffet table. The girl knows how to pour it and yell for seconds. 27-Nov-2019
Terminal Man (1974)
Adding a computer to a killer's brain was supposed to rehabilitate him. It was progressive. It had a prominent female doctor and a black magician's assistant.
Joan Hackett was an accomplished Sarah Paulson without the amount of accolades.
George Segal was dumbfounding, cringingly stamping the mediocrity evident in the poor treatment of a great story. 22-Nov-2019
Velvet Buzzsaw (2019)
An expose of the art world with a horror addendum. It spends too much time characterizing a patronizing society and very little imagination bringing the art and kills to life. Jake wraps his character in queer banality and sexual confusion like the problematic characters of yore (Jodie Dallas from Soap and Steven Carrington from Dynasty.) I'm starting to believe he actually may be straight. 20-Nov-2019
Bob Hearts Abishola (2019-)
The leads do not align, Bob's family grates and reverse hate is not progressive. 08-Nov-2019
Exploring multi-cultural attitudes to life problems is interesting. The black characters sparkle but their counterparts appear like unwanted houseguests. I'm sure good writing can fix that. (I liked it.) 25-Sep-2019
A film practice run. It's hard to gear up for characters minutely defined especially when they easily accept transcendent ideas. We need insight to understand their choices. Debrianna Mansini casts a lustrous presence that established "no other dead need apply" and Theo Rossi squished craftily. 28-Oct-2019
McAvoy is body jacked but his interpretive personalities are TMI agony. The film utters comic book lore without smashing any of it. M. Knight was so obsessed with exercising a singular idea (superhero or not) that the film contains no vibrant standpoint. My foundation remained unrooted. 23-Oct-2019
All the boys needed testosterone shots on vocals. Guy Ritchie has the balls to make a dream come true but has no audacity to eject it with soul. Smith is an imposing genie that computes the gay with little gumption. Mr. Massoud (Aladdin) squishes triumphantly but with too much modern awareness. Naomi Scott (Jasmine) is the only with a voice but she is too liberated in her femininity to convey the struggles of Jasmine's past. Marwin Kenzari squishes delightfully as a person but lends no voice or stature to Jafar. Ritchie brings as many things to life as he killed. 22-Oct-2019
Living With Yourself (2019-)
The premise is so dastardly that I can't laugh. The project seems like an excuse for Rudd to squish profusely before his star juice dries up. 22-Oct-2019
It's exhilarating to watch Armie Hammer unravel but the film's obscurity abandons him. 19-Oct-2019
