Undertone (2025)

A daughter cares for her comatose mother whilst hosting a mystery show that entices viewers with myths and facts. The premise only works if the source of the terror (the show) weren't so basic. I could not concoct the visuals necessary to instill fear from the audio presented. Video might have fixed that. Bumps in the night and sleight of hand make up the scares. The film was working towards authenticity but missed being that by not allowing the actors to work for it. When mama falls off the bed daughter is shown off camera helping her back. I wanted to see the struggle of an actor turning a thought into an action. It would have been inspiring. Nina Kiri carries the weight of the film because the support was invisible. Someone needed to physically free her of the constraints. The crust was decent but the pie not so much. 07-Jul-2026
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026)

It felt like a TV sequel of a film. The silliness tired and the action stall tactics were irresponsible. It was an unrealistic interruption to dire situations and it happened often. The sisters had a dynamic but it relied on harping about the same subject whose urgency no longer mattered. Change the subject. The film kept going around in circles which didn't help with sleep. The cast were in a fun movie I wasn't privy to. I think I stayed because I wanted to see Ms. Weaver get clean. She did and it was the only gift. 03-Jul-2026
Boroughs, The (2026)

It was perplexing, had a home-schooled child mentality and the whole started to feel tiresome. The legends jumped into a rabbit hole that's endless and repetitive. I expected something different. 26-May-2026
Black Phone 2 (2025)

Wonder Twins versus Freddy Krueger. Sister's superpower is to have 4K dreams of abused boys and brother makes public phones ring. Sibling effects after surviving catastrophe doesn't blend with their present choices. What makes them think they can help anyone when they should be avoiding mental imbalance by obsessing over teenage things. The set-up was an excuse and the love interest looked like the brother which kept jolting me awake confused as to why she was making out with her brother. The film tries tying all it's knots together but they don't hold and it gives way to Carrie/Pazuzu awakenings and It tomfoolery. Boys without dicks equal women with power. 18-May-2026
Send Help (2026)

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the shot of Dylan's butt. It was just as expected. Knightwing be damned. 15-May-2026
It was a mixed bag. The story depended on actor magnetism and camaraderie. Dylan and Rachel outmaxxed their credit. When does a character become an actor's most iconic? When it suits them. Splashes of originality can't negate that it's not really a horror movie but a parody of ethics. Sloppy employee becomes stranded on an island with a wounded boss that refuses to promote her. A battle of the sexes ensues. The battle for survival is glossed over. A survivor in the making does not inherit skills so easily without some background and yelp. She learned all this from Youtube? The only way a woman can control a man is if he is unstable and there is no one else around. The coincidences were great choices that were parodied instead of being treated as dramatic arcs. The refrigerated salvation gave me poppy shudders. WTF? The biggies may have stepped out during it because that felt out of place. 15-May-2026
Apex (2026)

I left as soon as "McAvoy" Jr. brought out the crossbow. 30-Apr-2026
It took me back to River Wild, extreme action hijinx, cliches, that Netflix movie with an almost Lantern, River Wild redone and Fall whose intro is the only one forgiven. I wanted to make a video out of the exact same starters. A hint of salvation is established when daddy Bana argues a case against Charlize and she warms but then never breaks from hardass. The character deserves her outcome. Outbacking like a liberal vegan with no protection does not a hero make. Extreme stunts are suicidal adventures. A catastrophe is an awakening not a forward force. Women need to be soft too. Once you start squirming in bed without pleasure you must look elsewhere. 30-Apr-2026
Unchosen (2026)

S1E6. The writers know as much about gay sex as they do cults. If women are allowed privacy with strange men and everybody comes and goes as they please, it is not a cult. Who protects these people? Why do they trust strangers that commit a crime against them? The reason cults are scary is because the individuals are hard hearted and selfish. The funeral was out of context. Unchosen would be considered unworthy. Why is Rose so immature and horny as a teenager? When she starts to wake up, it's an unbelievable transition. Fra wasted his chops on an incoherent character. There are key details that would have elevated it if the whole thing had made sense. 28-Apr-2026
S1E3. It's an odd thing, it feels boring but it breezes by. I might make it to the finish line. It's a tame representation of what a cult really is. So far there is only one pervert in the community. Really? Where are the child brides, the extra wives, the competition, the violence and dirty sex? Coincidences abounded leading to unrealistic saves and illogical scenarios. The main player hasn't convinced me to follow her. Siobhan's character is classic perfection. Eccleston is weirdly fuckable. The cast attempts to elevate it but the cliches are killing it. Why would a woman that has no access to electronic devices know that no during sex meant rape? The cult has a silly way of punishing the fallen. Get them ridiculously drunk or butt-fucked by somebody's husband. I presume that is the pain our lead asserted to. A Tarzan criminal saves a life and is rewarded with isolation amongst vulnerable people. The protagonist is breaking rules from the beginning so it's surprising that she isn't aware of the consequences. The only reason to continue is to see Fra Fee free his bra. They are magnificent! #2 is hoping for an Asa/Fra sexual showdown. 26-Apr-2026
His & Hers (2026)

I was entertained more by the performance than the act. Bernthal was a pissy prick with a sing songy accent and ripe for entertainment. I wish the show were its own thing instead of being a requirement. The ending is only great if you believe it. It was an 80's pyschopath's excuse for becoming a killer. Bernthal had chemistry with Tessa and she had chemistry with us. 26-Jan-2026
One Battle After Another (2025)

Teyana Taylor's soulless character stood out for all the wrong reasons. A stereotypical performance with fake bravado. I was relieved when she was done. Not only did I have to contend with a mime signing for the deaf on the corner of my screen with no off button but I was bombarded with a stubborn message that lent no humanity to either side of the argument. I sided with no one. If the solution was to keep fighting why leave their country to burden another and lose out on fixing their own? Why go to another country to hate on those people? If I had nose hairs I would have pulled them out just so I could feel something. It was an unbearable watch that had no artistic value or entertainment pursuit. Penn's walk was a major comic relief, DiCaprio went gut deep, the presentation was ugly and the slog was grimacing. I was getting punched for no reason, like riding a NY subway to work. 19-Dec-2025
It: Welcome To Derry (2025)

S1E8. It survives because of memorable shots. The fog, the gumption, It's eyes sparkling, It skipping, It doing anything. The solution seemed too simplified for such an extravagant showcase. 18-Dec-2025
It was the most frightening yet. S1E7. The best way to honor culture is to be honest and inquisitive. I do not understand what It is, more than when I read the book as a child. It was a hefty book. I read on because a beast's rape of a boy sounded familiar to me. I was born to it. I think Bill betrayed his Pennywise character by acting like a kid pretending to be an adult as a human. It was a letdown. The culture clash is not storytelling but stoning. How is one group better than the other? I kept thinking, if we nixed the adult footage would it matter, more?
PS: when soldier mama asked the accused to get undressed I was confused. How did she hide a black naked man in her car with her underage son from the army? 08-Dec-2025
The babies don't step on cues and are willing to make their characters heart-born. I always resented Charlie Brown for cancelling adults but it should apply here. Every time the children were not present, the momentum faltered. The prequel suffers from grandiosity when it needed to be more intimate. It's how gradually works. It never starts better. Where were these military bastards in the future? I'm confused. Is anybody going to explain why dead boy proclaimed that It sleeps all day and feeds all night? I say, "then why is It terrorizing them during the day? Constantly!" The only acceptable answer is, "he was lying." If all doors to a fantasy are left open, it would create chaos. I suspend disbelief in order to enjoy the story but I can't tolerate the nonsensical. The prequel boggles the part of the imagination I would need to believe. TMI. 29-Nov-2025
Jay Kelly (2025)

They had an opportunity to strip the persona of a legendary actor and explore his reality but what caused it is more important than knowing why he acted that way. It's not his fault that the notion that a celebrity can create happy families is not attainable because absence and success are prevalent. The trip to establish a bond is fruitless. Clooney gave it as much as the script wrote but didn't add anything fresh to his repertoire. Sandler noticed that and added depth to his support. I wished it had been told by his point of view because Clooney's character was too self-involved. The Christmas Carol flashbacks added nothing. At one point, I thought, "hey, another character named Tim but younger." I must have drifted. Flashbacks are nothing without a ghost to guide you. 08-Dec-2025
Oh. What. Fun. (2025)

Michelle keeps us in place because her depiction of a thinly written character was hard to resist. She made us believe that she believed in those emotions. If she weren't in it I would have bowed out. The capable support were cutouts from an era I'm not familiar with. Most of the conversations and threads made no sense and people don't/shouldn't react that way. The able support is saddled with lame dialogue and situations that didn't resonate. Poor Jason got the worst of it. Stalking young lesbians that are related is creepy. The point was definite with no space to grow emotionally. We know exactly where it's headed in the first few minutes. A woman's choice to free herself of ingratitude is to become vacuous. An injection of tenderness and subtlety was desperately needed. 08-Dec-2025
Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)

Thing's eyes got lost under heavy make-up and his mouth movements were hesitant. The beard. I didn't know bricks can grow hair? Fantastic held back. Torch had no life. Very little reminded me of the 60s. Sue Storm's hair was droopy instead of groovy. The baby plot line needed work and Shala-Bal didn't amaze or intimidate. They didn't sprinkle the magic evenly. It was a countdown to a finale that didn't deliver fantastic. Galactus was robbed. Supe capabilities were constrained. 06-Nov-2025
Weapons (2025)

Intriguing premise outdone by nonsensical resolutions. 29-Oct-2025
Bring Her Back (2025)

The ritual that is supposed to bring one back from the dead is in another language that is not translated until the end. Well, then why the fuck did it take so long? Unbalanced mother inherits 2 siblings, a hormonal teenager with wet problems and a mostly blind baby sister that has a need to be acknowledged. Boy wants to run with his sister but in 3 months he can do it legally. He just needs to put up with his foster mother's psychosis. The atmosphere is constantly tight. The actors delivered more than the script gave them. Gross is not a metaphor for fright, the ritual is not logical, the actions are less so, I didn't understand Ollie's diet and I didn't appreciate all the red. 28-Oct-2025
