Period of Adjustment (1962)
The utters of Fonda and Hutton chanted high. Tony Franciosa kept the octaves low and his charisma forward. John McGiver sets and Mabel Albertson resists becoming the in-law stereotype. They glorified it. Lois Nettleton steals it because she could.
Marriage is deemed a terror, everyone screams their heads off until a surprise gift changes it. It has a loud message but you can still hear it.
Unfortunately, George Roy Hill's absurdity didn't allow Tennessee to be tragic. It's what the writer did best. 03-Jan-2019
The thrills emanate from Momoa's colossal brute, Wan's dazzling shots together with pulverizing action and allowing Kidman to kick ass. Whenever it announces its mythology the corn drips and the music swells. It's best to keep them minimal and quiet but DC is finally moving forward. 28-Dec-2018

Cuaron's acute respect for the latino community grants the actors a flow of naturalness. He stills the camera and holds us down but the punches are seldom. Don't Sleep (2017)
The irony of the title is that it took me 6 tries to complete because it kept knocking me out. There's pretty boy enthusiasm in front of the camera but behind, they couldn't scare a bird. 11-Dec-2018
Hand That Rocks The Cradle, The (1992)
A two-sided coin that elaborates on the ramifications of "me too."DeMornay manifests vindictive bitchiness by thread, tone and lust. Sciorra deadlocks maternal credence and Moore is the flippant friend you can't trust but should. Girl fight to the the end is its bang. 29-Nov-2018
Ready Player One (2018)
The door to Spielberg's imagination never closes. He is most brilliant when he transfers his thoughts to the eye (camera.) The Shining and Chucky were unhinged odes and asides of established mastery. Regrettably, the writing and acting get displaced whilst catching up. I would thrill to see the meister embrace his dark side. 27-Nov-2018
Mathilda May is other world perfection. The story is complete, the make-up impresses and the Brits exalt conspiracy authority. By end, the filmmakers are overcompensating and padding the screen with extras when all we want to see is daddy tackling the destructive seduction of the ideal woman he created. 23-Nov-2018
Ornithologist, The (2016)
I can admire nature and ogle the choice of men but the film required an explanation. 19-Nov-2018
Foxy Brown (1974)
The material doesn't spark but a slice of home and a plenitude of attitude make up for the pinch. Grier is gorgeous disciplinarian. 16-Nov-2018
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Kahn (1982)
It's an old friend I had no idea I made. It's everything it pretends to be. 12-Nov-2018
