A Quiet Place: Day One: (2024) 
A movie where silence is golden only resonates with "good face" actors. Lupita is characterized as an unpleasant doom manipulator. The cat that doesn't meow really pissed me off. By making the cat mute they missed out on fresh ideas and unforgettable scenes. Hounsou was relegated to extra. The action repeats but it doesn't refresh. More monster exposition would have added coherence and sustainability. What is their backstory? What happened to the crying babies? Deaf people who can talk? The rules of the game were acknowledged rather swiftly and the setups were obvious and corny. Pizza, really? 08-Jan-2025

From the first creak to the last scream, the interpretation of a classic is uncanny. Fede lip synchs Alien/Aliens achievements and aces it. He is not a copyist, though, he does everything the first two did differently but with the same dreadful spirit. The suspense was familiar and foreboding, the face huggers were scary as fuck, Andy is my favorite synthetic and the heroine was non-assuming. 22-Nov-2024

Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes (2024) 
Some of the mythological addendums are making me question my perception of its meaning. The path for everyone is bleak and backwards. What happened to the apes that weren't kept in cages and ran free, sometimes with humans? They must have another view. Wouldn't other countries have different ways of dealing with superior apes because of how many tribes worship them? The apes haven't accomplished much. Most still stutter, they haven't learned anything about spices or cooking and they spend all their free time collecting birds. The humans are kept in the shadows, with little speak and subservient representation. It's one-sided, it thinks it's fair but give us minimum time to explain. It would have been epic to parallel human hope against animal survival. We have to apologize for being god's descendant. In the real world we would have blasted every single one of them and sold their meat on sale at Wally World. When Lady Echo said she was searching for a book that would teach all humans to talk I thought she was talking about the bible. That would have been most likely. Humans didn't save any worthy technology, like I-Phones? This movie says we suck. The movie brought cinema magic and bewilderment, technological elegance, story of interest and the golden touch of a director. My feelings differ from my enjoyment. 12-Aug-2024
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024) 
I've outgrown this franchise. Only a kid's imagination can enjoy it because the ideas no longer allow adults to unwind. There isn't much to distinguish the brother from the sister. They are still rocking Ripley curls, their gender is unidentifiable and the girl has all the brains. Carrie Coon comes off as a side of beef instead of a serious actress. Paul Rudd was floating in the multiverse. Either nobody wanted to be in the same frame as Bill Murray or he really wasn't there. He was missing in many key shots. Patton Oswalt didn't sound like a mythical bird and cannot replace Rick Moranis. Ernie, Annie and Dan are safe. Movie ghost technology hasn't evolved since Casper and reviving a demon doesn't satisfy the theme. It had no whimsy, imagination or heart. 24-Jul-2024
Austin Butler looked better than he sounded. He used the fake voice most employees imitate when they are calling in sick. Florence Pugh was lost in a maze with no destination or exit in sight. Chalamet looked good doing what was expected. Zendaya sparkled and brought emotions forward. Javier Bardem stole acting honors by not letting his character stumble and being action relief. Denis Villeneuve mapped the film majestically and proved there are prettier things than TC. Story wrapped so it can move on. Well done. 04-Jun-2024
A movie should fulfill its promises. It promised that somebody was going to die if they did something. They did and nothing happened. False climax. It would have added a human touch to a technical movie. I didn't understand how the powers worked. There were instances when they could have used them to get out of situations but didn't. Scenes end after every cliffhanger and we lose out on the action. No slicing and dicing. Little girl had the lamest power. I can turn off electrical devices too, so can Alexa and I don't have to touch her. The sequel did everything it did before and didn't grow. The robot dogs were impervious to electricity, but died because of it. Stepping on water when you're electric doesn't sound like a good idea. They shifted the board but kept the game the same. 03-Mar-2024
The film suffers from The Green Lantern and Quantum effect. If the creators wanted to take us to other worlds, the trip needed to be worth it. Skrulls with no power are obsolete. I think they took the green screen too literally. Most of the actors looked like they were talking to the back-heads of stand-ins or more green screens. The ladies became 3 instruments that didn't play well together. Distance was put between them. The glowey thing that Capt. Marvel displays when she's on, reminds one of the Quantum sky. Another action killer was giving the women the same power effect. So we don't distinguish or because it was easier? The big bad could only have gotten better had they cast that crazy lady from the Power Rangers. I thought Dar-Benn was blind for the first few minutes of the film. If she looked down, would her head-piece have fallen off? All the ladies came as they are because hair and makeup were in a rush to return to social media. They looked unkempt and shook. They would never dare look this ratched on the red carpet where fans aren't paying them to create movie magic. Somber heroes zigzagging to nowhere for nobody. I never thought of Monica Rambeau as interesting, I liked Kamala on the smaller screen but... and we all know what Carol Danvers is. The reason I liked female heroines was because they were a break from extremism and added a softer solution to the action and they were beautiful. If women keep denying themselves in order to become men, hugs will be cancelled. They can do anything? Be a girl. Good hair, make-up and dress will fulfill the rest. See: Barbie. Imagine if she was ugly and without sex appeal. No mucho $. Musicland was an in-law family situation humiliation activity. Nobody swags like they care so why bother? I was surprised by the comedy horror tag. I saw nothing funny except for all the situations that put Ortega in harm's way. She was one of the bright things.The ghost costume needs an upgrade. The voice actor for Ghostface sounded like a harmless prototype. It's nice to remember the past but it didn't adhere to logic. The newbies were social media born and nothing more. I applaud Neve for bringing her original face and showing us she can act. She looked great. Cruel deaths are only delegated to males. The director did well with horror but the wink, wink trivia isn't cool anymore. That joke only works once then it becomes annoying. 13-Nov-2023
Charlton Heston played a super cowboy that had no time for women frivolities. His frivolity is mad at him because all he ever wants is sex. Karen Black is the girl who gets fucked a lot because she loves a man that wont commit. Wait until she sees what happens to the plane. Karen Black was naturally unhinged, vocal, a badge of courage under unwilling circumstances and an extra effect. She battled both sides of her conscience making it jittery. What it lacks in effects, it makes up for with tension. Gloria Swanson was onboard to play herself, Norma Desmond. Linda Blair was paid to lay down and listen to lesbian folk songs. George Kennedy returned to bark. Erik Estrada played a married horny pig. Christopher Norris was sparkly. The male comics were silly. TG disaster struck. 31-May-2023
Our lead actress was not properly lit to fool us into believing she was a child. The trick only works once. The horror is supposed to be a child doing very adult naughty things. If she had consummated with her crush it would have propelled the horror and daddy would have had a different stupid look on his face. The twist is exciting but very Ozark. It stalls, characterization falls apart and all is as it was except more unbelievable. 10-Feb-2023
Everything that ran throughout was an emotion that resonated because it was true. They were burying a comrade in arms that lost the fight. It is fitting that in this world women can obtain the kind of strength man takes for granted. I tossed and I turned trying to hate it but they fixed everything I disliked about the original. Jesus did not save them and science gave them hope. Lady Bassett may have entangled her accent but her emotions were true. She's a special effect. The director keeps the story close and sentiment running high. Namor's boobies reminded me of the paintings in classic haunted houses. The eyes followed you. Nice. I noticed his ears were a different color than his skin. An upgrade to technology is necessary to see colored people in the dark. A shorter edit would have made the film attainable. Who cares. Reminders from the past were a return to better things. They had a good amount of gas and revved up nicely. The Mach 2 opener was a tightly wrapped exercise that was crushed by the weight of the music. Music was programmed to force us to feel. I am not a fan. I would have cut the music, kept the sound effects and never pan away from Daddy Kickass' face. Jennifer Connolly seemed refreshed and in a good place. Reunions were sweet and respectful. Hamm needed to add a bit of anaconda to his Admiral's swag. Every time he squeaked an order, I laughed. His facial shots were mostly eyeroll, eyeroll bitch and eyeroll exasperation. The younglings were not interesting or fleshed out. Their purpose was to function for the machine. The beginning was full of close-ups of actors conveying to someone who might not be there. Boy, was I sorry I noticed that. Full frames and blurs were what my eyes kept being subjected to. Are they or aren't they there? Let's count. Fuck! When it expanded at the end, I felt relief but the music swelled and the rah rah began and I became sad that men have to self-congratulate. 20-Jan-2023
