Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018-) Arf

Ross Lynch embraces likability again, Kiernan Shipka is Carrie White fascination and the darkness of the witchery overcasts the proceedings. Where's the fun? 16-Nov-2018

9-1-1 (2018-) Howl

The daddy (Bassett and Hines included) heroics are inventive, the pulse quickens with current thinking and our hearts get pulled. 25-Oct-2018
A great action piece can energize an attention span but plugging the acting talent to words that allow them to emote beautifully is sublime. 12-Mar-2018
We're in dire need of heroes to save us and Murphy's latest gift is ready to give them to us. Connie Britton and Peter Krause have returned to dominant form, Angela Bassett is having fun and Oliver Stark is a fragile delicacy. The stunts wallop, the words are thoughtful and inclusive and Ryan and crew are experimental ninjas. 16-Jan-2018

How to Get Away With Murder (2014 -) Woof

It's so nice to see black men with balls. I'm talking about Viola and Shonda. 08-Oct-2018
The babies have embraced suffering (it looks good on them) and Viola finally has an equal sparring partner. Jimmy adds power to the word and breaks the jar that holds the brick-wall contents of Analise's character. Joy. 14-Feb-2018
The Wes mystery passively resolved, the only compel was the gift of Viola's Oscar winning embers. 12-Mar-2017
When you tie too many knots together you may need to snip to unbind which loses the essence of why we initially watched. 13-Nov-2016
Please give this woman a worthy sparring partner. 21-Oct-2016
I would watch Viola Davis wash dishes. Nothing compares to that. Some Man-Candy but nothing. 12-Nov-2015

London Spy (2015) Howl

Spy thriller with gay rationale and uncertainty. The candy and performances hoist the mystery while emotion resolves it. 23-Jul-2018

Retribution (2016) Woof

Family tragedy unmasks family secrets which unroots life affirmations that engenders violence to recover. The end liberates any doubts because it inflames with incredulity and delicious family gossip. 17-Jul-2018

Five, The (2016-) Howl

Great math fulfills the mystery, greater act perfects the show. 26-Jun-2018
Eye candy props it and good acting saves it but the intrigue needs to pay off. I have my magnifying glass out. 23-Jun-2018

Safe (2018-) Woof

The secrets we bury will always be uncovered by the most precious. Melodramatic comfort. 21-Jun-2018
It's unfortunate that Hall is saddled with an accent. Its timing creates timidity of character. We watch because every episode contains a juicy nugget that thrusts the mystery. 18-Jun-2018

Americans, The (2013-2018) Full Moon

Choices were devastatingly wrapped, the actors wrung every drop from a thoughtful script and the suspense kept us aghast and keenly aware that you don't have to be an American to remind us what it represents. Killed it. 31-May-2018
Paige's (Holly Taylor) turn consisted of ripping into mama. Awesome. 26-May-2018
Noah Emmerich's twitch is enjoyable character signification. Margo brought forth her no-nonsense presentiment and mommy and super daddy had a face-off. When Phillip carefully confronts Elizabeth with defiant truths, Keri Russell's face tells us what she's thinking and later confirms it by beautifully vocalizing it. Its genius. 18-May-2018
Mama wrecks and super daddy woke up to thrill us with a daughter life-lesson. 27-Apr-2018
This week's episode was razor cut. It registered after the series' most romantic statement and as a nightmare every parent of any child would like to avoid. Judgment reared it's acidity and Holly Taylor's Paige delivered it as the irritating and paradoxical teen we've learned to regard. 09-May-2017
The sticks remain properly placed. It's a welcome to see Margo Martindale back where she's allowed to play like we like and she deserves. 05-Apr-2017
Homeland stopped being this show as soon as it erased the family dynamic and started exploring its spy cred. Game of Thrones brags about how intellectual they are, The Americans just thinks. 03-Jun-2016
There are performers who act like they have sticks up their butts:

-- a high strung Spanish opera comes to mind (Bryan Cranston)

-- there are also artists so comfortable that they choose to sit on that stick and break it (Alison Wright, Margo Martindale)

-- but only one can unnerve us with reserved emotion by making us feel like "we" have a stick up our butts (Keri Russell)

-- while another conveys such panty creaminess and ferocity that he makes you feel like you have his stick up your ass and you better like it (Matthew Rhys)

-- and finally the faultless good hearts (Holly Taylor, Annet Mahendru, Noah Emmerich) born into the disorder that you have to scream back at your screen to take that stick out.

They can shove their art in my face anytime. 03-Jun-2016
How exciting and intelligent, understatement can be. 02-Jun-2016

Alienist, The (2018) Woof

The cast were making viewer commitment possible but eliminating a script page from the finale is disrespectful. You know, the part that explains the title. 02-Apr-2018
The crime is its star. It's beastly and corrupt. The idea that men conceived the idea to put a child in drag so they could sexually excuse abuse and maintain the purity of their women, vociferates that men hate children even more. 12-Feb-2018

American Crime Story: The Assasination of Gianni Versace (2018) WoofUpgradeHowl

The finale was a peak expedition of how monsters are crafted, the characters that enable them and the casualties who suffer because of it. All the actors were given thoughtful hurrahs and the writing was top-notch cautious and a proclamation of what society studies but never learns from. 22-Mar-2018
The mystery sustains it, the lifestyle quenches it and the players reincarnate its soul. Ricky in shorts is daddy pop-up, Penelope struts and beautifies, Judith Light's Marilyn Miglin held us hostage with brilliance and maturity and Criss/Cunanan is an orgasmic nightmare. Brava. 02-Feb-2018

Mindhunter (2017-) Woof

The production is valuable and Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany vibe electric as daddy/son representatives but the show needs to jolt me further to keep me awake so I can finish watching. 12-Mar-2018

1922 (2017) Whimper

To sell this movie the makers needed to convince us that the husband is a son of a prick, the mother is a third-dimensional monster with ulterior motives and the son is spoiled to rot. Thomas Jane chokes on the accent and can't set aside squishiness to convey a hardened hillbilly. Molly Parker is not illuminated for her character to spark and Dylan Schmid is a candle without a wick. Once the offense is discharged the film hibernates until its uncelebrated payback. 15-Feb-2018

Marvel: Runaways (2017-) Woof

PLL mystery profusion vs Marvel magic light. The mamas of every persuasion can handily evaporate frost, the teens lead and the fathers have yet to turn on their pilot light. I hope McMahon U-turned and picked up the mojo he dropped so he can grace us with great man squish. 16-Dec-2017

American Horror Story: Cult (2017-18) WoofDowngradeWhimper

There are many arcs but none to hold on to. The only source of energy was slayed with Francis Conroy.

It is too soon to scare us about a fight that hasn't been won yet.

I hate clowns now. 08-Nov-2017
The cast have been reprieved of accents and are granted what appears to be cohesion of character and intimacy with the audience. I'm wary of saddling the lesbian with so many psychological contrivances that she wont be empowered and that we are not feeding the evil (Trump) but finding an artistic solution to battling him. 06-Sep-2017
