Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
As I drowned in amazement the thought of giving Pinocchio this treatment became intriguing...and then it was.
Alita is the child built from dreams of regret, facing a life with limited power in the casings of a girl. She is constantly hounded for parts, in competition, fluttering, fighting and tasting what a child's life has to offer. She'd rather be a woman.
Christoph Waltz is his own animation. His Gepetto flourishes with worry and celebration. Alita's need to grow up is his dissatisfaction and his burden. The doctor brandishes enormous tools protecting a future creation that matters too much.
Creative ideas constantly bounce, widening the eye and accepting the beauty of art.
The pandemic should determine if this is how future movies will look.
Married At First Sight Australia (2015-)
Mishel could balance on the ladder steadier if she grabbed onto reality. It is hard to live by one mentality when others won't. Men are molded by ego and sex. Daddy Steve from a children's book usurped his power by insinuating his coolness should have indicated to the experts that he deserved a twinkly and less in charge wife. I believe he tried but the email he wrote his willy wouldn't SEND. Hey, I think she's beautiful but I wouldn't sleep with her either. It never would have mattered when he said it, the reaction would have been the same. The rampage was preordained.
I wish they could find a way for Hayley to return. Happily divorced and remarried. There is young love to smash, daddy behemoths to best and she can terrorize the squirmy one with the smashing ring finger. 01-Aug-2020
Future prediction: men and women will isolate from each other until the government lottery calls their # for procreation. The women will raise the girls; the men, the boys. No more raping, violence or in-charge arguments, amongst each other. The gays will gladly step up and be the bitches men want and the mother a boy needs. Mom and dad need to get rid of the fairy tale. Y'all hate each other! 18-Jul-2020
S7E7. It imposes fairytale concoctions on vulnerable beings and grants them the consideration that anyone can get married.
The experts are new age gods matching the expectant with the inexplicable. (I kept seeing nature every time they talked.)
Looks, age, discrepancies and peculiarities don't matter. If you change your outlook, the judgment retires.
People get really seriously brutally honest.
I am spooked, clenched and devoured. 21-Jun-2020
Sea Fever (2019)
Marine Biology student with no social graces gets punished. She has to spend a week on a fishing boat with strangers and foreigners to soothe her mind of robotic intelligence.
Hermoine Corfield plays it clumsy and rough. She adapts to the idea that intelligence needs to be shared, as well as acquired to benefit anyone.
Connie Nielsen raises plenty of steam as a female captain at her wits end with a fucking husband who's constantly showing her up.
Olwen Fouere smashed the boat. Dougray Scott's macho fragility grants him exclusivity to daddy home care package status. Ardalan Esmaili is smart slippery daddy squish.
There are no heroes, the choices are sound, the parasite creeps and the subtlety of the menace illuminates the thought. Well done, Neasa Hardiman (director.) 01-Aug-2020
Bubble couple are misled into a hellish suburban child rearing nightmare after house shopping. The setting is rife with panic and exasperation which neither characters or the presentation take advantage of. The characters don't react like real people and the story wants no resolution. Phones don't exist, no one attempts to test the gadgets in the house, time passes and the majors look the same, young "Sheldon" is triumphantly maddening, Eisenberg spends too much time digging and Poots rimming. It's about nothing. 26-Jul-2020
A malted shake with only whipped cream. That's a lot of protein. 24-Jul-2020
S1E3 found daughters giving handjobs, alphas verifying status on staircases and daddies snapping their tongues. I am no longer floating, my feet are firmly planted. 18-Oct-2019
Exposing how the family dynamic exploit each other for success. The sticks have returned:
Brian Cox - daddy doesn't need a stick
Nicholas Braun (Greg) - he'll carry anyone's stick
Alan Ruck (Connor Roy) - he licks them
Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy) - he shoves them up his nose
J Smith-Cameron - she's not carrying anyone's stick
Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy) - alpha in the making swings his own. 18-Oct-2019
Little Women (2019)
I sat down prepared to hate. New feminism interjected to classic "girl power." That was going to be offensive to me. An hour in, I asked myself, are they still playing music underneath the act and then a few minutes later I gave up and enjoyment crept in. When Saoirse Ronan's perfection subsides and we see a deeper core of the character, I rejoiced and asked discrepancies.
Emma Watson is asked to bank on likability instead of relying on bits of herself that can make a character great. Stop hiding and come forth. Be whatever you are. It will be great.
Timothee Chalamet almost made me believe in romance. Florence Pugh pushed the thought further.
Laura Dern makes it as easy as inhaling a line of coke in the 80s. Good for her.
A woman that frees herself has broader opportunities than anyone.
Greta Gerwig's force is in it. The errors that I caught will be her art. The special place she created was a safe place to visit. That is not an easy world to create. 24-Jul-2020
Go Tell It On The Mountain (1985)
Exploring the unity a church provides to a community struggling to stay afloat.
The protagonist is a teenage stepson born out of lust and into parents of mighty faith and little activity. The boy envisions his place in a white world that bestows him educational merit and Hollywood allure. Stepdaddy preacher has white resentment and believes the boy must learn the word of Jesus and disavow all the teachings of the white man so he can claim his benefits afterlife.
Great arguments ensue about what is a sin, enjoyment and a life. Boys don't want to be socked in a church when there is adventure, sex and violence to be had. Fear of community misrepresentation causes the parents to lock children in. (It seems we are always in one prison or other.)
Paul Winfield is the man of sin whose only recompense is Jesus. Blindsided and stubborn he fights to be the master of a household that's always revolting. His authority is frightful, his words are probable and his weapon is God.
The shading of the past to inculcate the steps of the future was tight. When the female actors revolt and exorcise their demons, crazy hungry talent is displayed. The boys were humble with pride.
The end is an exorcism that doesn't coerce any answers but that may be its point. No one knows shit. 21-Jul-2020
A woman running from privilege and crippling family expectations, an immigrant daddy breaking all the rules so his family can taste freedom, a daddy enforcer justifying the cruelty of his position and the family he needs to provide for and a woman in charge drowned by logistics and empathy. Everyone looking for a state that will unleash them and love them.
The immigrants leave a torturous country to protest in the land of sanctuary.
Yvonne Strahovski whacks insanity into our heads until she/us can't take it. Jai Cortney daddy hulks with great emotion. Rachel House nails scary bitch. The colorful cast represents with dignity.
Well thought and gruffly executed to punch a message through. "Just one of you have to matter."
Wild One, The (1953)
Life protestors with a penchant for bling, bikes and young things invade suburbia with destruction. The cops are too tired and don't want to get involved, the neighborhood uprises in arms and their little girls arch (they too have things to protest.) Parents are losers, youth is life, old is death.
There are illusions of gang rape and rape.
The women are confidant they can slow one down.
Marlon Brando explodes into both sides of his jeans like the rebel who doth protest too much. He was the untamable man that wanted to be tamed. The epitome of fluidity and all fan desires thereof, he institutionalized the gay man mystique and cis man "rapey" acquiescence. He's an everyman. That Brando granted my celibacy a woody, especially in black and white, speaks of "legendary animal."
The privileged only hate when others are troublesome. Good for them. 16-Jul-2020
Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Daddy "pod people" proficiency. I can't imagine a better cast to deliver a concrete, spooky conspiracy. It turns the brain on and our survival mode kicks in as the repetitive blankness coerces the free thinker to scream in frustration. 16-Jul-2020
I May Destroy You (2020)
Michaela Cole is a wordmeister and her vision keeps compelling.
I do hope rape doesn't define a woman's lifetime. According to this representation, most men are rapists. It forced me to calculate how many more times I was sexually assaulted when I thought I was hooking up and added another 156 to the other hundred molesters. Bang Zoom! 16-Jul-2020
It courageously tackles the subservient role a black woman plays in interrace sex. (This show is not kidding.) 26-Jun-2020
Michaela Cole represents a harmful truth that is socially forgiven until the effects punt it. Her soul swings with support staff. I'm in. 15-Jun-2020
Color Of Space, The (2019)
Meteor lands on bubble family property and affects change. Nic is allowed full psycho mode but the word and the psychology betray him. One minute he's canoodling with the wife and the next he is lacerating his teenage daughter like there's a history of childhood molestation. There is no consistency of character. All sexual innuendos and racial discrepancies are applied to animals. Thank God. There is a glimmer of an invasion but it's mostly about the effect. Fuck that. I want to see aliens. 14-Jul-2020
Quake, The (2018)
Papa is an obsessed conspiracy theorist and mama is comatose. The action shivers but there is only so much disaster this family/us can take. 10-Jul-2020
Wave, The (2015)
The cliches interrupt the strength of the message but papa courageous and mama savage add to the cerebral beauty of chaos. 10-Jul-2020
Monkey Shines (1988)
A fit daddy mentally bound by matriarchy becomes paraplegic. He receives a horrified nurse, mother pseudo, a no nonsense trainer and a mentally enhanced monkey.
The art of training an animal lives in its soul. The monkey represents the current female to determine his life. The monkey is a frighteningly adorable beast.
George A. Romero packs it with Hitchcock simplicity and sensical horror. Each frame a joy to ponder.
Jason Beghe is an addictive force.
The mother/son spar sliced bluntly.
I lurched, I was engrossed and the end was brutally sweet. 07-Jul-2020
