I came close to forgiving the mounting horror cliches because the aspect of a troubled marriage being revived by isolation is worth exploration. Everything pertaining to the forest degrades it. 02-Mar-2019
Dead Night (2018)
It bares its fangs early eliciting high wriggling expectations until bunk takes a seat and shits all over it. 18-Feb-2019
Feminine Touch, The (1941)
Sex war rom com served by master wits (Don Ameche, Rosalind Russell, Van Heflin and Kay Francis.) Ameche and Rosalind defy lack of chemistry but Heflin and Francis uplift the back end. The logic stipulates that men classify a woman's worth by the amount of selected howlers sniffing at her door. All the woman wants is for her man to grow a pair and punch the howlers sniffing at her door. 06-Feb-2019
Ornithologist, The (2016)
I can admire nature and ogle the choice of men but the film required an explanation. 19-Nov-2018
The act is porny, the conversations are ear splitting but the elevator has a wicked sense of humor. 27-Sep-2018
Confessions of a Pop Performer (1975)
It's a constant pile-up you can't stop watching. 25-Sep-2018
Lady Bird (2017)
Laurie Metcalf is ripe to play Carrie White's mother but the film doesn't allow its characters plenitude. The personalities change so abruptly that the film ends up not having a point of view. 19-Aug-2018
Parents of the year contend with a rude awakening. Just when Nicole's volcano of talent erupts the movie blindsides us with an inconclusive fate. 24-Jul-2018
Little Prince, The (2016)
It conjures beauty but it cannot unravel the puzzle that is the little prince. It figures I was nicknamed after something I can't determine. 23-Jul-2018
The mother/son dynamic felt natural to the actors and its where I wanted to linger. As soon as the sci-fi conspiracies are exasperatingly unwrapped all sense is lost and Rapace's performance recedes. 18-Jul-2018
It answers audience questions as they are supposed but they have a jocular serial character that opposes them. 04-Jun-2018
It's an inclusive jock party whose words and direction give no clue as to why they should flex a muscle. 01-Jun-2018
Friend Request (2016)
Alicia Debnam-Carey is ready and Connor Paolo presents a roaring pocket but relying on the supernatural disconnects us from the suspense that reality was holding. 11-May-2018
Indian in the Cupboard (1995)
The effects hold up better than the story. Lonely boy gets fantastical gift that brings toys to life and extols him godlike qualities and judgment.
I don't understand how casting dominion over an American Indian's life progresses the man or the child. The life-toys don't get a life ending which asserts that they were only playthings for an unseen boy.
The story asks us to dispense with logic more than we're capable. 14-May-2018
Justice League (2017)
It will continue to embarrass for as long as production is allowed to churn arid cornpop. They can't orchestrate a thrilling action sequence, the costumes don't befit a hero and it certainly doesn't flatter the artists (everyone clunks around) and the villain seems extracted from an outdated RPG. Cavill wakes up to serve us what's left of the Superman character and Amy Adams and Diane Lane are the only Amazons. Most of the artists left their joy elsewhere.
It needs to look at its animation for inspiration. 14-May-2018
