I Lost My Body (2019)

It lost me at the misadventures of a hand. 09-Dec-2019
Neon Demon, The (2016)

The art of devouring beauty. The film is stuck on carving striking visuals to move itself along, never defining its purpose or giving a well cast tenacity. We tend to fear beauty but it's our reaction that stirs it. 08-Dec-2019
8 1/2 (1963)

To evoke such oddities, the landscape needs to be bathed in color. Splattering random thoughts willy nilly to fill it, feels like forgery. It slackened my brain to the point of sleep. I woke to a frenetic ending that confirmed my not wasting time with the middle. I didn't get it. 15-Nov-2019
Eden (2012)

Human trafficking. The film reads like a book cover. The director omits all the details and experiences that would have elevated the message. The monstrosity was so minimal that I had no idea what the protagonist was actually suffering. The fear of exploitation mars audience reaction and participation. 06-Nov-2019
Glass (2018)

McAvoy is body jacked but his interpretive personalities are TMI agony. The film utters comic book lore without smashing any of it. M. Knight was so obsessed with exercising a singular idea (superhero or not) that the film contains no vibrant standpoint. My foundation remained unrooted. 23-Oct-2019
Aniara (2018)

It's a post apocalyptic climate change resolution that speaks in a tongue that isn't closed captioned. 29-Sep-2019
Boys In Trees (2016)

Rekindling a bromance. There were so many elements that could have thrust the story forward but the director was so intent on a surprise ending that his magic tricks don't total rationality. It's underhanded. The film relies heavily on Toby Wallace, whose star endowment keeps it flowing and wrings the only emotion at end. 23-Sep-2019
Us (2019)

When a director can't wrangle a decent performance from two accomplished actresses (Nyong'o and Moss,) he isn't done with his training. The movie makes no sense and it doesn't deserve to breathe on anything resembling art. 15-Sep-2019
Loev (2015)

In need of clarification, it has shallow entertainment value and a lackadaisical push to move forward. 12-Aug-2019
Object Of My Affection, The (1998)

The intention is for its gay representation to be inclusive and equal to a straight lifestyle. It touches upon authentic concerns but its reality is askew. The main two keep chugging the charm and Allison Janney creates stillness when she exits a shot but it's a gay film made to satiate a hetero audience. 20-May-2019
Exposure (2018)

I came close to forgiving the mounting horror cliches because the aspect of a troubled marriage being revived by isolation is worth exploration. Everything pertaining to the forest degrades it. 02-Mar-2019
Dead Night (2018)

It bares its fangs early eliciting high wriggling expectations until bunk takes a seat and shits all over it. 18-Feb-2019
Feminine Touch, The (1941)

Sex war rom com served by master wits (Don Ameche, Rosalind Russell, Van Heflin and Kay Francis.) Ameche and Rosalind defy lack of chemistry but Heflin and Francis uplift the back end. The logic stipulates that men classify a woman's worth by the amount of selected howlers sniffing at her door. All the woman wants is for her man to grow a pair and punch the howlers sniffing at her door. 06-Feb-2019
Ornithologist, The (2016)

I can admire nature and ogle the choice of men but the film required an explanation. 19-Nov-2018
Down (2001)

The act is porny, the conversations are ear splitting but the elevator has a wicked sense of humor. 27-Sep-2018
