Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
Taylor-Joy shared her thoughts by creating a narrative we could understand, sparkling eyes wasn't given enough artillery to establish a heartfelt character that could pump the breaks and let you feel, Hemsworth establishes that his Thor-type villain is not to be fucked with, the director's vision infected the tech crew. They lived up to expectations. Action sequences were bombastic and artistic. The war scenes confused but they didn't disappoint. The mythology skipped key details that would have granted an Anna/Charlize showdown. I needed more information to explain how a girl succeeds in a filthy society that wants to purge. (I would have made little and middle Furiosa big Furiosa's daughters and have one of her instant love interests be the questionable father.) The team-up would be awesome. There wasn't enough odyssey to landscape the people but it sure looked great. 24-Aug-2024
Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes (2024)
Some of the mythological addendums are making me question my perception of its meaning. The path for everyone is bleak and backwards. What happened to the apes that weren't kept in cages and ran free, sometimes with humans? They must have another view. Wouldn't other countries have different ways of dealing with superior apes because of how many tribes worship them? The apes haven't accomplished much. Most still stutter, they haven't learned anything about spices or cooking and they spend all their free time collecting birds. The humans are kept in the shadows, with little speak and subservient representation. It's one-sided, it thinks it's fair but give us minimum time to explain. It would have been epic to parallel human hope against animal survival. We have to apologize for being god's descendant. In the real world we would have blasted every single one of them and sold their meat on sale at Wally World. When Lady Echo said she was searching for a book that would teach all humans to talk I thought she was talking about the bible. That would have been most likely. Humans didn't save any worthy technology, like I-Phones? This movie says we suck. The movie brought cinema magic and bewilderment, technological elegance, story of interest and the golden touch of a director. My feelings differ from my enjoyment. 12-Aug-2024
Omen, The (1976)
An opulent chiller with legends, iconics, a badass score, glorious shots, intriguing plot, animal attacks, nannies in charge and that kid's wondrous face. It fit all the musts neatly. When Gregory Peck wishes his son were dead, he meant it. Lee Remick made the arduous task of rearing a strange child heartbreakingly empathetic. Evil emanates from every corner. 25-Mar-2023
Fall (2022)
The beginning sort of made me want to quit. It was quick and basic, trying to establish a rapport with the characters for an emotional end impact. I wish it would have concentrated on one trip and given us an enacted arc. We felt them because it's a human response to fellow suffering. The Morgan played the miserable dad with nary a smirk. I pictured someone tightening his balls every time he tried. The script gets better, in a technical sense, when the action becomes terrifying. 23-Feb-2023
Prey (2022)
When Predator removes his cloak and mask, its cool. He is a Jamaican space bear with gadgets. A historical portrait of Native American life and how futurism disrupts it. It was clever establishing the unthinkable. Director kept it sturdy and crawling. The heroine was crafted with moxy, determination and brawn. It can proudly stand aside the first. 08-Aug-2022
Dune (2021)
Villeneuve attempts putting things prettier than Chalamet on screen and lending coherence to a confusing tale. The audience drives miles before the Jedi is matched with his fate and the communities are only taxed with suffering. The film doesn't allow them any fun. Everyone is a prisoner of religious fervor and nobody takes a dump. The ending is abrupt and the action doesn't build, it stays the same. Villeneuve envisions amazing things but nothing prettier than Chalamet. 19-Feb-2022
Flubber (1997)
No one should be interested in a man that has left their love waiting at the altar three times. It labels the neglected, a doormat. Robin Williams is the Professor that discovers Flubber. Flubber is a squishy jello substance that appears animal except when it's being materialized as a money making substance. No one dies when hit by a fastball, brains don't get smashed when hit by bowling balls. The film thinks it's funny to apply the same stitches to both. Death is the realistic word. Weebo is a sexy pitched robot that sparks jealousy. Robots and emotions are confusing. We are not of the experienced mind to buy it. Robin is the sad guy who gets left, not the ass clown with regrets. Williams' sweetness permeates, creativity enervates but the story has no gas. 20-Dec-2021
Mortal Kombat (2021)
I'm young enough to remember playing it but too old to retain character backstories. When the legends come to life it jogs the memory and its cool. The action brutalizes your senses and makes you feel guilty for releasing with it. The story and dialogue try to zap the fun out of it but the techies keep throwing water on it to keep the spark going. 09-Sep-2021
Child's Play 2 (1990)
This is primo Chucky and Andy. It's ridiculous but hilarious. The parents are knobs being foster parents to a teenage lesbian with survival skills and a traumatic Andy who's mother has been institutionalized for believing in human dolls. Chucky is alive, more expressive and an artistic cunt. The toy factory was it. 24-Jun-2021
Die Hard With A Vengeance (1995)
I needed a break from imaginary intelligence so I decided to watch the daddies that kept me a boy longer than I needed to be. The Riddler has designated several bombs to go off at different times all over Gotham unless Beast Boy and Cyborg decode them. As soon as Daddy Willis walks naked into Harlem wearing an offensive sign and precipitates different reactions from the community, the movie stakes a claim on how we presently live. It isn't offensive because the film is a warning about foreigners using our hate to destroy us. The actors are saying things that we think but are not allowed to say. Our anger and resentment is released through them. Samuel L. Jackson is the best antagonist to have because he will do what's right for everybody and make you laugh. Applying CGI spandex onto Jeremy Irons Riddler would have made his equation complete. Chemistry is on blast, believability is shot but daddies look so cool getting bloody and blowing things up. 26-Apr-2021
Space Sweepers (2021)
The earth has become Mexico red. 5 percent of the privileged population safely inhabit space while governing the remaining 95% that will die with earth. Space sweepers clear space from waste. It's a competition. The team who swipes it first wins and gets paid. I got absorbed in its universal travelogue. I wanted to see more of dying earth and plastic earth but understood the budget restrictions. They concentrated on delivering a humane story against a space adventure. The robot is a human-like child set to detonate and cause a nuclear disaster on earth. She is the new cargo the Victory ship undertakes. They are afraid of her as they are enamored. It's done with cheeky humor, a team that kicked ass and a heart that saps with the wind. It doesn't hit your face in a glob. It spreads out so you can gently dab. Every representation spoke their language and it sounded musical and educational. The little girl was adorable and the action was Tony The Tiger. 18-Feb-2021
Avengers, The (2012)
Arise the madness. Superhero magnificence. 16-Feb-2021
Pete's Dragon (2016)
This is the the corny one but not to death. Elliot is a majestic dragon with fur and radioactive green. It still acts like a dog but it's butchy. Slave boy becomes orphan boy after wandering off into the forest post a fatal family crash. He is adopted by Elliott, becomes Tarzan boy, lives with animals, lives like animals and acquires 6 years knowledge of the English language by reading the same baby book over and over. No. The dragon doesn't talk. He whimpers. I frown on animals talking but dragons don't exist so it's okay for them to talk when we need shit explained. Redford was enervating, Howard was luminous and Fegly imagined. Sweet and magical moments stand out. 16-Feb-2021
Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith (2005)
General Grievous is a product of Lucas' craft. The Tech Master hardly disappointed. The fail was foretelling everything before it happened depriving us of emotional surprise and leaning heavily on sap. I thought Hayden was done vomiting. Dude, he had diarrhea and it stank up the whole universe. I replaced him with a young Jack Nicholson. (Jack was dark, charming and a hoot. That laugh.) Unfortunately the saga is reliant on Anakin Skywalker making a satisfying transition to Darth Vader. He does not. I would have put a helmet on that kid halfway through the 2nd film just to avoid the misery. He even infected Natalie Portman. Samuel L. Jackson couldn't give three fucks. Ewan McGregor sported adorable hair, eloquence and force chill. Yoda kicked more ass. Christensen yucked it up! The diarrhea was epidemic. 06-Feb-2021
Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones (2002)
Ewan Mcgregor found the force. Samuel L. Jackson couldn't give two shits. Christopher Lee honored his count. Natalie Portman settled in. Hayden Christensen was anemic and woozy and almost vomited all over the film except that the magic of George Lucas was dominant and triumphant. TG. Can we CG him out? More universe is explored, Jango Fett and Yoda kicked ass and the adventure was accomplished. I loved playing this game. 05-Feb-2021
