It is very faithful to its mythology. Raimi still has inventiveness and surprises left in him. He still knows how to shock and generate laughs. Papsmear Campbell has not lost his touch and he makes you appreciate you watch. He is where most of the fun starts. He's also got Scoobies of which Ray Santiago's Pablo supplies much of the heart and adorableness. Last but not least is Lucy Lawless as a badass something. Never hurts. The premise or the offering is making the assumption that there are predators and victims in every relationship when in reality its just feral trying to claim the top spot. The people in America who invest do so because they perceive the foreigner as unenlightened therefore easily subjugated but the con always fights back because that is their livelihood. I don't contend that there isn't love somewhere here but I can't see why some would risk the growth of their children to obtain it. These people are impossible to unravel but I think we should be counseling them instead of observing them. 26-Oct-2016

I watched only up to the 4th episode. It took months before I revisited. I wanted to like it. I just needed to give it time. There was some business with a dead body, a bath tub and acid. A Three Stooges type setup that didn't make me laugh but made me lose patience with the characters. Horrible people in an ugly world that I don't want to spend any time in. 4 years in was enough for me to flip the switch from snapping to squirming. Not one brush stain can survive the canvas of scrutiny with too many close-ups and oversharing. They are imprudent, despotic and conniving. When Jeff Lewis paints its always a derivative of grey, white or black. I believe those are the colors of his mood, zeal and landing-place. No one is as they are illustrated but worse. The behaviorism on hand is only to displace any notion of mental instability. The gay family that Jeff concocted, covets and despises is no different than the natural family that repudiates him. I suffered fools gladly until I reflected the top of a paint can back at them and found the answer. 01-Aug-2013
