NCAA athlete disowned by family able to keep GoFundMe donations

After her parents learned she has a girlfriend, Emily Scheck, 19, a college sophomore and Division I athlete, was disowned by them in August, right before the start of the school year. She said she was left with just $20 to her name.

In an interview published last week, Scheck told LGBTQ sports site OutSports that her mother had given her an ultimatum after finding out that Scheck has a girlfriend: come home and receive therapy or be cut off from the family. Scheck chose the latter.

MICHIGAN GYMNASTICS COACH ARRESTED FOR BANGING GYMNAST... In Public

An assistant coach for the University of Michigan gymnastics team was arrested earlier this month for having sex in public after officials say he nailed an 18-year-old member of the UM team in a car.

The asst. coach is 39-year-old Scott Vetere -- a former stud gymnast back in the day who was the 2000 BIG 10 Gymnast of the Year.

Officials say Vetere and a female gymnast were doing floor exercises in a car in the parking lot of an Ann Arbor apartment building on Oct. 8 ... when they were spotted by police and arrested for performing an indecent act in public.

Warwick Rowers include gay World Cup champ Robbie Manson in new calendar

The Warwick Rowers are including openly gay World Cup champion Robbie Manson in their latest calendar.

The big news here is that Warwick Rowers are welcoming an openly gay world champion to their calendar promotion. The sexual orientation of the individual rowers has almost never been discussed. So the fact that they would welcome a naked gay dude to the photo shoots and calendar says a lot about the actual inclusion of the members of the club.

Former USA Gymnastics president arrested on charge of evidence tampering in Larry Nassar case

The former head of USA Gymnastics was arrested and accused of removing documents linked to the Larry Nassar sexual abuse case from the Karolyi Ranch gymnastics training facility in Texas, authorities said.

Steve Penny was arrested Wednesday, nearly three weeks after he was indicted by a grand jury for tampering with evidence, the Walker County District Attorney's office said.

He was detained after US Marshals tracked him to a cabin in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He is being held at the Sevier County Jail while awaiting extradition to Walker County, Texas.

Big time wrestler Jake Atlas defied his family by jumping out of the closet and into the ring

Name: Jake Atlas, 23

Bio: Mexican-American wrestler Atlas grew up watching pro wrestling with his folks. He spent his childhood in Mexico before coming to Los Angeles as a teen. Both his mom and his dad loved Lucha Libre wrestling–yes, the style of Mexican wrestling that involves wearing the drag of flamboyant masks and uniforms–and took Jake to see numerous matches as a kid.

As he got older, Atlas found himself drawn to cheerleading and gymnastics, though wrestling remained his first love. When he turned 18, he decided to go pro. He trained a full two years before entering his first match.

On Monday, Aly Raisman wrote a powerful op-ed for the Boston Globe about child sexual abuse, specifically, how the stigma associated with it can impact children from a young age. Raisman, a three-time gold medal Olympic gymnast, was one of the most outspoken survivors to come forward about Larry Nassar's abuse, and has become an advocate for sexual assault survivors in addition to a role model for young athletes.

NFL flameout admits to having sex with 12-year-old girl: police

A former standout college running back admitted to having sex with a 12-year-old girl, telling investigators that the sexual encounter was her idea, police said.

Justin Crawford, 23, was spotted by his wife standing over the young girl while he had an erection at about 5 a.m. Saturday in the living room of the couple’s Columbus home, the Ledger-Enquirer reports.

Crawford’s wife then went back to bed, but could not stop thinking about what she saw, a police detective testified Monday in a Columbus courtroom during Crawford’s preliminary hearing.

3rd person alleges molestation by former Conroe priest at Houston church

A Houston man has identified himself as the third victim of a former Conroe priest accused of molesting two teens.

A lawyer for the victim alleged Thursday that Manuel La Rosa-Lopez inappropriately touched his client, then a 13-year-old boy, at least four to five times while he served as an altar boy at a Houston church in the mid-1990s.

Christian NCAA member Azusa Pacific bans all same-sex relationships

Azusa Pacific University, an NCAA Division II school with ties to the Christian church, has reinstated a previously suspended ban on same-sex relationships, sending LGBTQ students, student-athletes, members of the administration and advocates scrambling.

The school’s Board of Trustees late last week sent a notice returning the school’s policy to say “Students may not engage in a romanticized same-sex relationship.”

Some Christians have long held that the Bible bans sex between people of the same gender. This policy goes even further, banning all romantic same-sex relationships, even those that don’t include sex. The school’s policy already bans sex outside of wedlock, this policy simply specifically targets gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer people.

God has yet to weigh in on the decision.

'60 Minutes' producer Jeff Fager leaving CBS amid allegations of inappropriate conduct

Jeff Fager, the veteran executive producer of "60 Minutes," is departing amid accusations of inappropriate conduct at the acclaimed newsmagazine.
"Jeff Fager is leaving the company effective immediately," CBS News president David Rhodes said in a memo to staffers on Wednesday.

Rhodes said that Fager's longtime No. 2, Bill Owens, will manage the "60 Minutes" team while a search is underway "for a new executive producer of the program."

Rhodes said in his memo that "this action today is not directly related to the allegations surfaced in press reports, which continue to be investigated independently. However, he violated company policy and it is our commitment to uphold those policies at every level."

Church sex abuse: Kentucky attorney general wants to investigate state Catholic dioceses

The Kentucky attorney general will seek the Legislature's permission to form a statewide grand jury to investigate Kentucky's Catholic dioceses in line with last month's damning report on Pennsylvania Catholic churches.

That report showed church leaders protected more than 300 "predator priests" for decades in six Pennsylvania dioceses because they were more interested in safeguarding the church and the abusers than in ministering to victims.

Deputy Attorney General J. Michael Brown said his office has been in contact with Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro and that his staff will "in the near future" draft legislation to put to lawmakers in Frankfort.
