“Took a DNA test, turns out I’m gay.” Smith posted on Instagram.
In a halting voice and at times on the verge of tears, Smith, 26, told his 311,000 followers that he has struggled with his sexuality since he was 12.
Indiana Teen Attacked In Locker Room for Being Gay
An Indiana high school student has faced ridicule after being attacked in a locker room for being gay. After other students started circulating video of the incident around school, the teenage boy’s mother shared the story with Indianapolis TV station WTHR.
“I’m not OK, but I will be,” the student told the news outlet.
And he’s telling anyone else who ever finds themselves the victim of a hate crime to stay strong in spirit.
"Stay true to yourself,” he said, “and if you get hit, do the best you can to make sure it never happens again."

Racist abuse: footballers should boycott social media, says Phil Neville
England women's manager Phil Neville said footballers should "boycott" social media to send a "powerful message" that abuse is not acceptable.
Neville's comments come after Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba received racist abuse online having missed a penalty in his side's 1-1 draw at Wolves on Monday.
"We have to take drastic measures now as a football community. I've had it with my players on social media, the Premier League and the Championship have had it," said Neville.
"I just wonder whether as a football community we come off social media, because Twitter won't do anything about it, Instagram won't do anything about it - they send you an email reply saying they'll investigate but nothing happens.
The owner of the Pirates owns a newspaper that called marriage equality, trans rights ‘dubious achievements’
A small newspaper owned and controlled by Pittsburgh Pirates owner Robert Nutting recently published an editorial that called into question its view of the LGBTQ community. If not for criticism by a progressive news site, few people outside Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley might have seen the editors’ choice of words. Those words also prompted words between Nutting and the publisher.
The Winchester Star is a daily publication with a circulation of less than 20,000, and is operated by Nutting’s Ogden Newspapers, which is publisher of more than 40 newspapers and media outlets across the U.S. It was started by his great-grandfather in 1890. On August 7th, the staff published an editorial critical of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam for the Democrat’s refusal to share a stage with President Donald Trump at the 400th anniversary celebration of the Jamestown settlement.
Odell Beckham Jr hits back at homophobes mocking his Calvin Klein shoot
The American football star, who currently plays as the wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns, has faced a string of anti-gay comments on his latest Instagram post, which sees him posing in his underwear for a new Calvin Klein campaign.
“Boy look gay as hell,” wrote one Instagram user, while another added: “He low key gay tho.”
Responding to the comments and rumours about his sexuality – which have followed him for years now – Odell re-affirmed that he is indeed straight and said he shouldn’t need to keep addressing his sexuality.
“Yallll chilllll mann damnnnn! It be a lot of y’all sayin sus and alll the other comments that realllly be a direct reflection of who u are! Im straight! Like beyond it,” he wrote.
“If I sit here and defend myself y’all gon say im tryna defend myself, if I sit there and say nothin yalll gon say ‘seee he didn’t say anything.’ I’m good wit me. Which is dumb straightttt… Period.

Gay Irish strongman and his fiancé celebrated Pride where marriage equality is banned
McNaghten describes himself as a trailblazer in his sport. “I’m the first openly gay strongman to come out in the UK and Ireland, possibly even Europe,” he said.
But he takes the view that being gay is just one facet of who he is. “I want to be Ireland’s strongest man,” said McNaghten. “I don’t want to be Ireland’s strongest gay man.”
“The shock that people have that you’re gay — I don’t think it’s something that matters to me. I generally just think it’s gossip.”
'Fake' anti-racism campaigns don't affect anyone, claims Evra
The former defender says leagues must take stronger action to fight racism in football
Patrice Evra says anti-racism campaigns in football such as Kick It Out are "fake" and ineffective in tackling the issue.
The former Manchester United, Juventus and France defender was on the receiving end of racist remarks from Luis Suarez in a famous incident during a clash between the Old Trafford side and Liverpool in October 2011.
Racism remains a big issue throughout world football, as has been highlighted by several recent high-profile incidents in England and Italy, where Moise Kean and Kalidou Koulibaly have suffered racial abuse.

The Latest: Family of ex-cop convicted of rape "devastated"
The family of a former Oklahoma City police officer convicted of rape says it's devastated that a court has rejected his appeal.
The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals on Thursday upheld the convictions of 32-year-old Daniel Holtzclaw.
A statement from Holtzclaw's sister, Jenny Holtzclaw, said Holtzclaw is also devastated, but strong, and that the family will "pursue every available avenue" to prove his innocence and win his freedom.
Prosecutors accused Holtzclaw of targeting black women and girls while on duty. He was convicted in 2015 on 18 charges involving seven women and a teenage girl. He was sentenced to 263 years in prison.

Baseball Team's LGBTQ Pride Night Featured Chick-fil-A, Sean Spicer
The minor league Pawtucket Red Sox delivered a double header in bad taste Friday night, giving out free Chick-fil-A and having a former Trump administration official throw out the first pitch on Pride Night.
Sean Spicer, President Trump’s first press secretary, tossed the first pitch, according to The Boston Globe. Spicer appeared as a representative of the Independence Fund, a nonprofit that serves wounded veterans.
The former press secretary made no reference to Friday also being Pride Night at the stadium, but critics noticed.
“The PawSox are having Sean Spicer throw out the first pitch on Pride Night. What an insult to all their queer fans,” wrote Longreads sports columnist Britni de la Cretaz on Twitter.
Odell Beckham Jr. not bothered by people speculating he is gay
GQ: There was a period of time when a lot of gossip sites — specifically black gossip sites — would constantly say that you were closeted. They’d call you “excited” in a hot-tub photo with your teammates or simply just say you’re gay. How’d that make you feel?
Beckham: I’ve never had an opportunity to talk about this. Honestly wasn’t offended. I’ve never once had no problem with anybody who has their own personal life that they live. I have friends who are gay. It was almost more funny to me. I almost messed with them even more. It’s like when someone gives me an ultimatum, I’m usually always going to go to the opposite way of what you want me to go. So when they would say that, I would almost mess with them even more. I have no problem with anyone’s sexual orientation.
NBA star Dwight Howard denies gay rumor
US professional basketball player Dwight Howard denied rumors he’s gay.
The proclamation comes about after a man named Masin Elije claimed the two had a sexual relationship. Eljie also alleged Dwight offered him ‘hush money’ when things ended.
‘I’m not gay,’ Howard told Kristine Leahy from FS1’s Fair Game. ‘There’s people who have different problems in life and they have to hide. They have to put on the mask every day, and it’s like, I don’t wanna wear no mask, I just wanna be.’
