Society Of The Snow (2023)
Identity doesn't matter when nature dumps you into oblivion. You identify with minute things that only matter to you. Everyone is entrapped for the same reason. Bad luck. It doesn't take long to establish that the boys are silly and well-trained survivors. Disasters had me living it, the actors kept me spiritually attuned and the writers broke my heart. Every thought was represented and dealt with. These super athletes deserved their status. Hoo-ray for everyone. The director decided not to shock and that was successful. We react to nature and god as a threat. Evolution is necessary for survival but not very good on the brain. Cognitive, intelligent and free thinking. We journeyed, felt and cried. Excellence was it's goal and it tilted. The director played it like soccer. 12-Jan-2024
Omen, The (1976)
An opulent chiller with legends, iconics, a badass score, glorious shots, intriguing plot, animal attacks, nannies in charge and that kid's wondrous face. It fit all the musts neatly. When Gregory Peck wishes his son were dead, he meant it. Lee Remick made the arduous task of rearing a strange child heartbreakingly empathetic. Evil emanates from every corner. 25-Mar-2023
Owl And The Pussycat, The (1970)
Lady Barbra plays a hooker with aspirations. George Segal is the bookish wannabe writer whose life she upends. He rats on her for soliciting, she gets evicted and moves in. He inherits a lot of sexual frustration and mental exasperation. Nobody gay bashes like Streisand. (She can bash me all she wants as long as I win her over with my charming personality. That's how you make friends.) She's representing a full fledged character that served the writer well. Why not. If everybody were the same we'd all be Trump. Segal and Streisand are brilliantly funny, introspective, sexy, beautiful and artistic. The words are grand, it flows, we care and it means something. There is a point in your life where you realize that you will never amount to more than what you are. You can at least try to enjoy it with someone in the same boat. 25-Mar-2021
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
There is a threshold of high mentality professionals cannot consume or understand so they isolate, daze and shun the unwell from reality thinking it will make them better but they're just keeping them away from us. The insane asylum is the "soccer mom" equation incorporated as rehabilitive juice. If you keep the child's mind busy life wont hurt it. Nurse Ratched is neither monster or killer. She represents the woman in charge who will do what it takes to chase the crazy out of these fuckers and get herself a promotion. She does her job better than any man or human. Her hate for men keeps her in check as long as she can control them. Louise Fletcher is etched in subtlety. She's discernible, rational and a doctor's prescription. Her murderous thoughts are a delirious read. She spends a short time in the film but her character wafts through every room, corridor and human being begging for a moment's joy. Jack daddy legend is in it to disrupt it and kill her perfect employment record. He is a man with ownership rights and a threat to her profession. He has no mental issues that would require him to be there except that he hates work and wants to coast in a nut house. He is chaos and destruction but not insane. He hates life but he can survive it. He will inhale only the convivial parts of it. Booze, parties, women and trouble. He pretends, he awakens, parades his heart with glee and makes a team of his followers. Jack is there to free them of their haze and enlighten them with the cool parts of reality. But sadness breaks out and explosions erupt endangering their mental situation. Jack smiles, hates the world, speaks our language, slays our speech, breaks our hearts and is one of the funniest sarcastic mother fuckers of all time. Excellent across the board. 21-Sep-2020
Wild One, The (1953)
Life protestors with a penchant for bling, bikes and young things invade suburbia with destruction. The cops are too tired and don't want to get involved, the neighborhood uprises in arms and their little girls arch (they too have things to protest.) Parents are losers, youth is life, old is death.
There are illusions of gang rape and rape.
The women are confidant they can slow one down.
Marlon Brando explodes into both sides of his jeans like the rebel who doth protest too much. He was the untamable man that wanted to be tamed. The epitome of fluidity and all fan desires thereof, he institutionalized the gay man mystique and cis man "rapey" acquiescence. He's an everyman. That Brando granted my celibacy a woody, especially in black and white, speaks of "legendary animal."

Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (1978)
Daddy "pod people" proficiency. I can't imagine a better cast to deliver a concrete, spooky conspiracy. It turns the brain on and our survival mode kicks in as the repetitive blankness coerces the free thinker to scream in frustration. 16-Jul-2020
Others, The (2001)
Children and the help, quarantined with a compulsive mother obsessed with the idea of being as great as God. It's made of Hitchcock walls, star quality is legend of old and the understated score unnerves. It's refined spookery. Nic is powerhouse mama alleviator and authoritarian, putting the kids sweetly to bed, one minute and wanting to chop their heads off, the next. The ending is ruined once you know it but the lesson still rings true. Nothing ever is as it seems. 27-Apr-2020
No Way Out (1950)
Black doctor cares for two supremacist thugs. Race riot ensues when one dies. The movie is forthright and balanced with chills of emotions. Poitier is standard upright in a younger package. Widmark splatters the screen with hate like he meant it. Linda Darnel was the damsel in distress with heroic genes. Amanda Randolph deserves loads of cuddles for being. Mildred Joanne Smith was luminous at heart. It's an everlasting battle to fight for what our greater parents started. 20-Apr-2020
Jaws is the ultimate water pandemic. It's misinterpretations no longer matter, because its proven law. We panic, take precautions and find a loophole to reopen. The loophole is that there's always a bigger shark out there. A sentiment for only the purest of heart.
My mother and my sister would call me Spielbergio, every time I would pick-up a camera. They eventually bullied me into putting it down (Thank God.) I thought it was cute but they were being harmful.
Mr. Spielberg opens doors to the imagination like a magician disappears from a box. It's simple, you can figure it out but the trick always works. Where did he go? He wills everything wider, cleaner and funner.
Ultimate daddy squish (Scheider,) a fiery one nighter daddy (Shaw) and a blubber daddy with smarts, cool gadgets and a checking account (Dreyfus,) generate all the magnetism a film needs.
John Williams' score tells it's own story.
I loved every minute of Bruce and the hard work involved to scare us.
A masterpiece because it was never about a shark, it was about us.
Farewell, The (2019)
Family saying goodbye to a most adorable nana whose unaware she's dying. It is heritage that deigns not telling the patient they are terminal for fear it would exacerbate the symptoms. The Americanized part of the family are predisposed to tell because we have a need to finalize life. The elders would prefer to respect her life by allowing her to enjoy what's left. Awkwafina tempers the doubt, the confusion and the love as the film quietly distills it. 13-Mar-2020
Train To Busan (2016)
Zombie apocalypse gets an epic disaster movie treatment. I thought there was nothing left to do with a zombie but I was thrillingly surprised. The zombies are quick, staggering and evolved. Yeong Sang-ho returns as many things as he borrowed, lending it a huge amount of humanity and eagerly expanding the perception of claustrophobic spaces. Favourite, The (2018)
Filching the power of a doddering and enraged queen for self preservation. The lead trio combine with the word to exact the wit, scandal and one-upmanship that exists between women. Emma Stone's ambition cuts like a hurling knife, Rachel Weisz is all-business, running from said knife and the glorious and hilarious Olivia Colman covertly catches the knife to use against whom she pleases. Olivia opens up like the wounds that appear during her illness. 16-Dec-2019
Thing From Another World, The (1951)
Causing terror with good old fashioned Hollywood techniques. The film reboots beautifully because it's brilliant. They delivered a completely terrifying story and trusted the audience to use their imagination. 03-Dec-2019
Matrix, The (1999)
It maintains its relevance because it sounds like truth. It ripped the adventure sport apart, it stamped itself fresh repeatedly and we were overtook with joy and appreciation for the artistry of clean work. From kool to kickass is the process. 11-Jun-2019
