Succession (2018-2023) HowlUpgradeFull Moon

Sticks were lit. Just when I thought someone needed to slap Greg, he gets into a brawl. Baby prince stays hurt because his stick is not invincible, it didn't absolve him from violence. Kendall conjured many joyous and catastrophic emotions impressively. It's all about Shiv. Bound by family and inheritance but destined to never ascend the heights of her brothers' success and doomed to feel cheated. The only thing she can own, with no help from her dysfunctional family, is how she wants to live. Mattson was a prickly genius. Mother In Charge was defiant in her opinions and uttered her lines like they were Mr. Freeze popsicles. The best way to deal with family angst is to join it, beat it or annihilate it. The series dealt with all of it. Even emotionally dead mother fuckers can teach you that. 29-May-2023
Roman broke his stick. Daddy Prince sat and ate his stick. Shiv grew a different kind of stick. Greg towering over Mattson made my stick hard. The boredom and responsibility of a funeral was deftly created. Everyone was pondering death or trying to ignore it. Shiv is most like her father. 22-May-2023
Shiv is an accomplice to earth's destruction. The reds are absolutely wrong about everything but are our only salvation. A parent's misery festers like a ghost. It clings to others but is disabled by future reference. I want to shove a stick up Greg's ass and lick his face. I want to pay Shiv to shove anything up Tom's ass. I want to lick daddy's supreme balls as he describes how it feels like to eat a bacon cheeseburger. Mattson is a foot in our mouths. Connor is on the list of ok must fucks. I hope it strangles us in the end. 19-May-2023
I give a fuck! 19-Apr-2023
S3. Daddy Prince of Darkness battles Daddy Succession Supreme. Every "fuck" made me hard, every "you" made me cum. Daddies were exploding beautifully. Women sewed their own armor. Shiv is beloved, mother is a cunt, Geri is the family dog, Roman is a mutt, Tom is bewildering, Willa keeps up, Connor won't give up, Greg is a kitten and Mencken is a game. The fight would add up to very little if the top masters didn't emote so precisely. Daddy Succession bleeds every decision to keep his dynasty and children afloat. All he wants is respect. Daddy Prince is impatient about the future. He wants to be woke, now, when it matters. Daddy S knows better. Daddy P always gets what he wants because Daddy S spoiled him. There is a study of art that defines Daddy P because of his intensity but when he calms and speaks his pathetic truth, we want to fuck him, again. Yes, his pathetic is even hotter than his cocky. It's called parenting. The writers convey our thoughts instead of our speak because, in reality, we can't do so. But we would like to. We are not animals in cages. You cage the word and the animal comes out. Let it speak. The show spoke, delivered whoppers, kept to its guns and secured a successful season. 20-Dec-2021
Daddy suffering (Ken) hijacked it with an hilarious rap and alpha domination. I like to hear Shiv, I like to say Shiv, I love to watch Shiv. Holly Hunter (Rhea) is the clamped whisperer. When she nips it she doesn't let go. Tom shreds himself to death attempting to bare the soul of a character that rarely sees it. Culkin plays his character like he has no dick. Funny. Nobody messes with daddy. Writers that want to keep their jobs and a production that keeps on pushing it. It consummates on a boat big enough to fit two Below Decks in it. It was all about respect. 08-Aug-2020

S1E3 found daughters giving handjobs, alphas verifying status on staircases and daddies snapping their tongues. I am no longer floating, my feet are firmly planted. 18-Oct-2019
Exposing how the family dynamic exploit each other for success. The sticks have returned:

Brian Cox - daddy doesn't need a stick

Nicholas Braun (Greg) - he'll carry anyone's stick

Alan Ruck (Connor Roy) - he licks them

Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy) - he shoves them up his nose

J Smith-Cameron - she's not carrying anyone's stick

Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy) - alpha in the making swings his own. 18-Oct-2019

Maude (1972-1978) Full Moon

S1 & 2. Maude was the perfect feminist. She wasn't afraid to let a man speak, weighed the options, argued them and resolved it like a scientific adult. Maude didn't need to win every argument. It wasn't necessary. The point of an argument is to be heard. She recognized a man's shortcomings and was willing to stroke it for peace. Bea Arthur was a force of wit, sarcasm, genius understanding and distribution. Adrienne Barbeau put the lib in life and the fighter in mother whilst shaking her gorgeous bon bons. She was a thespian. Conrad Bain understood why doctors are supposed to be stupid and funny. Rue McClanahan was giggly and neurotic before she became a slut. Bill Macy was the perfect foil because he was married to the perfect feminist and he had something to shout about. Forida (Esther Rolle) was so intoxicating that she blows away in season two to be upstaged by a stupid clown. Women are fighting to be equal to men they can't stand. It fits our time zone and it scratches my funny bone. I hope that when Betty made it to heaven that Bea was standing there to congratulate her. ("Kindness nullifies bitch, every single time.") 06-Jan-2022

Americans, The (2013-2018) Full Moon

Choices were devastatingly wrapped, the actors wrung every drop from a thoughtful script and the suspense kept us aghast and keenly aware that you don't have to be an American to remind us what it represents. Killed it. 31-May-2018
Paige's (Holly Taylor) turn consisted of ripping into mama. Awesome. 26-May-2018
Noah Emmerich's twitch is enjoyable character signification. Margo brought forth her no-nonsense presentiment and mommy and super daddy had a face-off. When Phillip carefully confronts Elizabeth with defiant truths, Keri Russell's face tells us what she's thinking and later confirms it by beautifully vocalizing it. Its genius. 18-May-2018
Mama wrecks and super daddy woke up to thrill us with a daughter life-lesson. 27-Apr-2018
This week's episode was razor cut. It registered after the series' most romantic statement and as a nightmare every parent of any child would like to avoid. Judgment reared it's acidity and Holly Taylor's Paige delivered it as the irritating and paradoxical teen we've learned to regard. 09-May-2017
The sticks remain properly placed. It's a welcome to see Margo Martindale back where she's allowed to play like we like and she deserves. 05-Apr-2017
Homeland stopped being this show as soon as it erased the family dynamic and started exploring its spy cred. Game of Thrones brags about how intellectual they are, The Americans just thinks. 03-Jun-2016
There are performers who act like they have sticks up their butts:

-- a high strung Spanish opera comes to mind (Bryan Cranston)

-- there are also artists so comfortable that they choose to sit on that stick and break it (Alison Wright, Margo Martindale)

-- but only one can unnerve us with reserved emotion by making us feel like "we" have a stick up our butts (Keri Russell)

-- while another conveys such panty creaminess and ferocity that he makes you feel like you have his stick up your ass and you better like it (Matthew Rhys)

-- and finally the faultless good hearts (Holly Taylor, Annet Mahendru, Noah Emmerich) born into the disorder that you have to scream back at your screen to take that stick out.

They can shove their art in my face anytime. 03-Jun-2016
How exciting and intelligent, understatement can be. 02-Jun-2016

RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars (2012 -2018) Full Moon

In a season where Ru gave the all-stars every opportunity to strut, they repaid the legend by teetering. Shangela's hilarious lip synch catapulted the show to greatness and the girls finally gave us some soul searching but the next group needs to singe to continue mama's legacy.

The ladies seem in dire need of art inspiration. SNL history has a roster of the most empowering females to celebrate and emulate. Just the thought of them and the characters they slayed should elicit a laugh. 10-Mar-2018
The battle was worth saluting. 24-Jun-2017
Snatch Game is allowing us to ponder. Do the girls not emulate our current divas because there is no access or because such legends are not calling out to them? That's not fun. Our divas need to cause more of a ruckus. 29-Apr-2017
My original review has been changed to reflect that in fun you can disrespect a group and commit error with one unfortunate word. 29-Mar-2017
Reunion. Thank you. 03-Nov-2016
I was a little dismayed how little spectacle and celebration was involved in crowning this year's All-Star. It seemed rushed and gagged of money. Couldn't a club donate their space to the great Ru-Paul and allow her ladies to shine in the atmosphere that bore them? The lift to either cause wouldn't hurt and it would delight us. 14-Oct-2016
Congratulations Ru, you are still Queen of your domain. I met you once as you towered on a float in a NY Pride Parade. My buddy and I followed your float to the tip end of Christoper Street before a turn to disembark and traffic halted and locked you in place. You blessed everyone with a most rousing lip synch and array of dance work. During the storm you created you acknowledged and waved and I welcomed the rain that created a rainbow for the rest of my pride fest. You defined a moment that was never topped. Class act.

The reason this show excels when other realities mimic is because the show and the pretense is in their drag. Drag is in the background of every gay man whether you care to acknowledge it or not. Every contour, shading and hardware is depicting the hardships and the joys our lifestyle can drop. They enact it in exaggeration and a softer guise so the hurt doesn't cut so deep and the joy is longstanding. After much schooling and thought, I respectfully acknowledge that they are more than an accessory, they shine brighter, work harder and fight butchier.

All-stars entertainment value is never in question because even when things are not progressing how we'd prefer you don't stop brandishing or humanizing yourselves.

I was gunning for Alyssa to win because of her insuppressible showmanship, vulnerable heartbreak and cuntilicious coating. Whoever wins the crown, Alyssa can be assured that she won something more palpable, our hearts.

If Ru wanted to create a gasm she'd bring back all her girls and eliminate them one by one along the time allotted as she would have seen fit. Just curious to know what her choices would have been. 07-Oct-2016

Outlander (2014 -) Full Moon

It was a complicated season because the realization that as beautiful the sentiment or the romance is, Jamie and Claire united has no merit to those witness to it. There was a selfishness to their love and a discard of family.

Patience is rewarded as soon as the big bad is affirmed (a savory Nell Hudson) and the sea catapults them to Jamaica. Scenes of modern Claire's reaction to the uprise of slavery was horrific, compassionate and uniting. There was "Titanic" imperilment, ecstatic conjuring and renewed star watt coupling.

Just because it didn't end like we wanted doesn't mean we can't marvel at the vision craftily laid out. 05-Jan-2018
The show may have its blemishes but the whole is resplendent. There are frequent instances where Ronald D. Moore will ask the viewers to commence anew with contrasting situations and characters but he always relies on the one constant that upholds the story...romance. Caitrona Balfe as Claire Randall Fraser who compels Sam Heughan's Jamie Fraser from brute to man is the force of the show and the sentimentality. Balfe has a warming timbre and luxurious tilt. I want her to read me a story and in this situation she executes it persuasively. Heughan is virile, protective and heroic. His "Sassenach" phrase can inflame like his stature can overcome. Once we explore the cultivation of their coupling all exposition depends on the chemistry they have in bales to spare us.

This season the makers awarded us with what appeared to be the closing of a story and the prospect of letting us imagine the best end scenario for the doomed lovers. It was fearless, mature and gut wrenching. Unlike its brethren, Outlander's contentious moments were few and provoking but thanks to regardful writing we were allowed to heal along with the characters. The show validates Battlestar Galactica's proficiency as no fluke and Moore and his staff inspired.

Tobias Menzies as the nefarious Captain Randall is unnerving because the writers have the boldness to endow his character with the backstory of a damaged survivor whose actor civilizes him. You hate the character but respect the performer for defining the monster with the right amount of fine tuning.

Graham McTavish as Dougal Mackenzie and Jamie's uncle is bountiful Daddy Squish with some choice acting skills that impelled us to always question the character, his intentions and our investment. Dashing.

I don't know how the story can continue with the completion of the season finale but I'm tuning in and hoping that these creators can overcome the structure and deliver us noble artistry once again.

American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ (2016) Full Moon

There is nothing to complain about. Cuba doesn't look or sound like Simpson but he brought Bat Shit crazy. Yes, that was enough. We got the essence. David Schwimmer. Ross who? Kenneth Choi was an uncanny Ito. I'd hate to be Steven Pasquale as his bigot cop overshadowed the original bigot cop. Courtney B. Vance was a slayer and an animal. Sterling K. Brown was slight of hand. He was subtle, all heart, do gooder and had unique chemistry with Sarah. John Travolta's Shapiro was a beautiful beast. Everytime Travolta showed up I got goosebumps and giggles. He steals with charisma and force. Daddy gets a free massage. Sarah Paulson's Marcia Clark was the queen. It was all about Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. From humiliations, to sexism, through appearance shaming, Paulson handled the character with such realism and care that we applauded her all the way. Her and Darden were the heart and the unsung heroes of this story. I don't really know how Darden and Clark felt about each other in real life but we really do hope that the sympathetic comaraderie they enjoyed was as presented.

Ryan, the writers and everyone else involved were intelligent perfectionists. From the small details to the big impacts everything was "Handled With Care." The hard task was evident. I loved the finale's final thoughts and notes. This is a war that no one wins and it is a problem that needs everyone to resolve. I want to thank this mini for having the courage to explore that. 07-Apr-2016
