I was thrown off by its profession. A bookie gets thwarted by a practical bombshell and upmanship and love become the goal. My understanding of the sport business was confusing but I embraced the idea of love being silly and coy. 08-Sep-2026
Star Wars: Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) 
A movie about a bounty hunter and the adorable little baby that are bound together by destiny. A Star Wars film without a mythological front. It is what it is and what it is is great fun. Daddy's dulcet tones lulled me into superhero dreams of Dorothy from Oz picking up all kinds of fascinating creatures and having marvelous adventures. Mando is his own worst enemy. He keeps pissing people off who want to kill him. Grogu was the little bastard that stole it with his comical antics and his winning heart. It was a theater experience at home that I adoringly enjoyed. 05-Sep-2026
It's miscalculations stopped it from being great. Crime drama about a child serial killer striking fear like an historical predator. Detective is on the case with the assist of a retired cop that cracked the original case and his son whose life is turned upside down by it. Monaghan handles the detective as a studied empath that keeps her emotions inside. DeNiro's weariness downplayed to sound effect. Adam Scott was irrational and overbearing for such a laid back dad. The script made him hit a lot of bad notes. Michael Keaton grasped at past characteristics that made his character silly. Everything was too convenient. Scott's move was in memory of his dead wife. He wanted his boy to share another part of his mom. He never makes it clear if it was his hometown as well since his estranged father lives there. The estrangement clogged the heart and bit off at an emotional showdown. Imaginary friends are tiresome horror tropes that no longer elevate action. I've never met a child with an imaginary friend. Everything it did the boy could have done for himself. Why was it telling him to listen at the door when who wouldn't? I understand that because children are involved that it can't be explicit in its subject but the tapes were an opportunity to chill us that failed. We don't get to hear them or form a better case. A summary was given by the actors instead. The victim was the focal point with little time to establish his character or his thoughts. The clues were illogical atrocities. 02-Sep-2026
Loggers desecrate a mythical creature's terrain forcing it onto a quaint town that didn't appreciate its survival skills. A sheriff and his deputy are tasked with unfurling the mystery. Sheriff is mourning the loss of a son whose life he couldn't save, deputy is a city boy running away from city harm and the town's identity was established as smarter than most. The performers gave more than it deserved but the monster was mostly avoidable and a disappointment. It only showed at the end. Somebody compiled some clay and garbage and threw it on a stunt person. It was nondescript. Pity because I liked the Kingtown vibe. 30-Aug-2026
Her sister was supposed to get married but ended up going on a special trip with her husband. Promises were broken, hearts shattered and a family torn apart. Mourning ensues as the protagonists move on but the antagonist is dealt a blow. Bette Davis was armed and ready to steal as the soulless sister. She was fun and all over the place. I kept hearing different accents. Her instrument was on tilt and her missteps were funny. Olivia acted like post Gaslight and all of Gone With The Wind. After tragedy strikes her life, spoiled brat returns to cause more family havoc. She accidentally kills a child and blames a black associate. The inclusion was a limited spice that was bowing with respect. The time lapse felt rushed, evil bitch showdown where Betty got told self truths was missing, including a part of history that matters to black folks is a plus but the melodrama outdid the film's intentions. Another 40 minutes or so would have added the depth of a book and a classic. 25-Aug-2026
Hal Jordan is a grumpy super daddy whose charisma outweighs reasoning. Pierre's John Stewart is worthy but he pulls away before establishing connections. The sheriff is presented as a stereotype that has something to say that I kept confusing with a Kathryn Hahn interpretation. The subtle nods are enough to keep the comic book fantasies alive, the approach is fair, the memories are fond and mysteries are involving. 24-Aug-2026
Astronaut crash lands on earth after a failed space mission and wakes up unaware of what transpired. Her reestablishment on earth was grueling and invasive, unusual bruising exasperated, baby was cute, hallucinations were stark and safety was non-existent. Well done sci-fi that kept both sides of the equation minimal and low in impact. 23-Aug-2026
Horror bumps were well laid, the cast was lit, the composition compelled fear and frustration but the glue that was keeping it tight loosened at the end. Casual daters on holiday en route to meet friends deviate because of a desire to stay at an overnight hotel. A private hideaway that allowed for loud fucks. The hotel was so secret that an escort to its entrance was needed. The entrance to the unknown was a relentless maze that brought them no closer to the hotel or getting out. The motivation for what scared them was slight. The actions that transpired before it ends didn't correspond with its effects or my thoughts. I didn't want to think about it too much as to not ruin the experience but I know the math was wrong. I understood what happened but not the why. 21-Aug-2026
Watching part II first enhanced the experience of the original. The golden retriever was still genius but had no relation to the second pooch and was a little less cute. The government is behind a monster predator on the loose who hunts their own brethren which is the genius dog. They have sent a terminator agent to destroy all evidence of its bloody mayhem. I appreciated the monster in the shadows. It was akin to a gorilla not a candle. Corey Haim fostered the dog and established a cute bond. Mother went along in a breezy and adult manner. Michael Ironside was a ticking time bomb. The steps avoided in the sequel is what I liked about the original. The showdown actualized things it never promised. I liked that. 20-Aug-2026
Chubby teen has problems fitting in at school and at home. "Carrie" has an adorable sibling who upstages her because she's not fat, daddy is ashamed of her and blames her for being fat, mother acknowledges she's fat but doesn't think that is her only problem. It's a symptom of toxic thoughts. Daughter is gifted with telekinesis and will betray her morals to master them. Baby Helen Hunt was sparkly, Susan Meyers absorbed the darkness, Olson was fatherly, the classmates were puke inducing fat shamers and Lee Grant was mother marvel. Psychic powered characters usually have a tell but Rita's/"Carrie's" was so subtle that I didn't realize her first kill happened until later. Deep stares into the camera and unintelligible chants were the nose twitch. Corny as fuck. Occurrences felt sudden and without explanation. They do answer everything but only at the end. Rita was kept in the shadows and lost on being categorized as a person worth cheering for. Her mission was to destroy her detractors, not cook dinner for her family and ways to fuck them up. Fat people don't miss dinners. The psychic showdown played better in my imagination than its lackluster budget showed. The knives kept hitting the cabinet instead of her face. The showdown was fun even with its limitations. It was a Carrie supposition as a family. 15-Aug-2026

City brothers of competitive ages move to a quiet town that hides mysteries only weird folk encounter. Performers were alert and the mystery was intriguing. Not all holes need to be explored. I got that. Scares were correct but limited. The kids acted accordingly and the mythology was promising. I didn't understand why someone's personal nightmare interfered with others. The clown puppet gave me chills when it connected to childhood fears but it disconnected as soon as it got personal. Dante of any kind is a childlike adventure, Dante restrained is a child crying for help and Dante unleashed is a mad genius. 12-Aug-2026
The threat is incomprehensible. Locking people inside their homes to take over their land seemed like a waste of time when its power was greater than ours. Why the delay? It's a bind the writers had trouble pontificating. The actors were a cohesive unit. They were family. Wagner lead as a dad who had to protect his own without admitting to the danger, Greta Lee was well composed as the mom and the children of all ages clicked. The progression from family vacation to family strife was convincing. Family time was sentimental, neighborly contacts were necessary, animal rescues were understood and the family's resilience was enervating. The best parts of the film were inside the house whilst everything outside remained vague. 07-Aug-2026
