Quiet Man, The (1952) Woof

It's a cultural fairy tale that vibrates with status and wondrous oblivion. It's as pretty as the people breathing life into it. Culture doesn't deny itself, it contributes to the world. White people made me feel good. So what? 23-Jan-2022

Bob Hearts Abishola (2019-) Woof

Nigerians have an upgraded version of conversion therapy. Exorcism! White distraction outs a relative as a lesbian and the community treats her as such. Should the messenger forfeit to a liar and apologize to her royalty for breaking the rules? The only thing stopping Matt Jones from becoming "daddy bait" isn't his speak, its his stupidity. Wink, wink. 21-Jan-2022
Blacks are descended from witches. Awesome. 01-Dec-2021
The only actors doing Wakandans right. 11-May-2021
Is it improper for me to say that I wish someone else would love Abishola? 31-Mar-2020
The leads do not align, Bob's family grates and reverse hate is not progressive. 08-Nov-2019
Exploring multi-cultural attitudes to life problems is interesting. The black characters sparkle but their counterparts appear like unwanted houseguests. I'm sure good writing can fix that. (I liked it.) 25-Sep-2019

Eternals (2021) Arf

Zhao contributes "beauty of art" and serenity to the MCU. The actors are sound comic book cutouts defying gravity with little purpose. A Galactus of significance would have created the conflict that Gods favor and audiences delight in. There was a sameness to the threat, a sadness to the truth and no color for the future. 13-Jan-2022

Eyes Of Tammy Faye, The (2021) Woof

It's cold on facts and quick with details. Two fascinating humans aligning to make the world a better place for themselves, remain enigmas. They let go of reality and rode a magic horse to success. Magic horses need water so they steal some from neighboring lands. Lands dry up and competitors get suspicious. Jessica has brilliant moments when spiritually linked to the original but defaults to herself when Tammy Faye does nothing spectacular. There was no Faye spin on song or yell. Jessica completed a very difficult job. Andrew Garfield instantly reminded me of the Jim Bakker I thought I forgot. He was excellent. What happened with the kids? 13-Jan-2022

Red Notice (2021) Woof

Red Notice fulfills "land of magic" type escapism. The writers created an intriguing caper and an enigmatic cast to play act it. Gal Gadot can act. Well. Daddy King Rock delighted in being the brunt of a joke, constantly, in fabulous fashion. Dickwad Reynolds steals it by being a cantankerous benevolent criminal who is also Deadpool. The director took advantage of its DCU historical significance and developed some solid characters. Heart tug. 11-Jan-2022

Maude (1972-1978) Full Moon

S1 & 2. Maude was the perfect feminist. She wasn't afraid to let a man speak, weighed the options, argued them and resolved it like a scientific adult. Maude didn't need to win every argument. It wasn't necessary. The point of an argument is to be heard. She recognized a man's shortcomings and was willing to stroke it for peace. Bea Arthur was a force of wit, sarcasm, genius understanding and distribution. Adrienne Barbeau put the lib in life and the fighter in mother whilst shaking her gorgeous bon bons. She was a thespian. Conrad Bain understood why doctors are supposed to be stupid and funny. Rue McClanahan was giggly and neurotic before she became a slut. Bill Macy was the perfect foil because he was married to the perfect feminist and he had something to shout about. Forida (Esther Rolle) was so intoxicating that she blows away in season two to be upstaged by a stupid clown. Women are fighting to be equal to men they can't stand. It fits our time zone and it scratches my funny bone. I hope that when Betty made it to heaven that Bea was standing there to congratulate her. ("Kindness nullifies bitch, every single time.") 06-Jan-2022

Passing (2021) Arf

Disturbing friend passing as white revives a childhood friendship with a black woman who lives like a white person. It is filmed in black and white so we don't notice how silly it would have appeared in color with lots of white powder on pale brown faces. In this case, the story needs to be brighter than grey. Why is Clare invading a stranger's home? People don't do that unless they're desperate. She was just bored. She stole attention from the children and her friends. She fucked her husband and talked shit about her behind her back. Nothing was executed. Everything was a hint. The stalker is married to a most ignorant white man. She's getting darker because she's tanning more. Hahaha. How did she handle pubic hairs? Unless bikini waxes were all the rage, women kept it bushed in the 20's. The white stupid husband didn't get to tell his story. Thompson and Negga gave it what it required but the director did not excite us with a Bette Davis and Joan Crawford type showdown. I wanted Thompson to rage at Negga for interrupting her housewife bliss. I wanted Negga to explain herself whilst she tore her hair out. What a waste! 05-Jan-2022

Pig (2021) Arf

The afterlife Anthony Bourdain would have lived if someone had stolen his truffle sniffing pig. Nicolas Cage rides shotgun on a road trip to nowhere interesting, with an undefinable buddy, to bring his pet home. The transition from woods to city, hurts. It's supposed to be a vehicle to re-establish Cage as a bona-fide actor. He is battered, humiliated, hated yet his composure remains the same. He doesn't give a shit. Cage doesn't get to rage and his breakdown is silenced. Adam Arkin sparked chills by spontaneously talking like Cage and raging how Cage did not. The words ponder nicely but deliver dribble. Imagination does not fly because intelligent thoughts are incarcerated. When imagination ceases to exist, I will still wonder if muting Nicholas' breakdown deprived us of his gift. Bourdain wasn't meant to be Indiana Jones, he was supposed to live long enough to accept his punishment. That's what it should have been about. 28-Dec-2021

Hondo (1953) Howl

A wife/mother abandoned by hubby on Apache terrain staves off conflict when an Indian head takes a liking to her son. Apaches don't cry and revere baby boys as gifts. An ultimatum is issued. She must decide on an Indian for a husband or the Apaches will kidnap and raise her son. She keeps hoping her husband returns but the Apaches think he's dead. In struts John Wayne as a half Apache gunslinger that causes as much ruckus as he does saving. The best westerns contain wide landscapes, big hearts and simple writing. Society (Apaches) has the right to teach a boy to become a man for the benefit of his survival. Wayne is classic and Geraldine has the audacity to stand up for her son and protect their homestead. The kid is precious.

(If you want to be an asshole, you can count how many times the make-up runs off Apache legs or you can just enjoy a great story.) 26-Dec-2021

These Old Broads (2001) Arf

It was a spectacular low-budget showcase with a supreme cast and some artistic expression. The legends reminded us how they became, how time forgives and that they can still entertain. Fisher added pepper to her words. Sometimes, overly, with a sting. She made a legend apologize to her parental legend for being a treacherous whore bestie who stole their daddy. Elizabeth did it and it was a beautiful moment. Deep, full and roomy describe "broad." The film's walls were made out of gingerbread though and the icing kept sliding. The com got sticky. I didn't care. I loved hearing legends call each other whores. It made me feel human. 20-Dec-2021

Will & Grace (1998-2006) Full Moon

S1E3. The gay bestie is the only man that gets pretend husband right. Jack was the clown stereotype that exploded. Karen hadn't evolve but she was super bitchy. Grace and Will's beautiful relationship ends when the other sucks the other's partner off on a whim, just like in real life. 10-Dec-2021

Gentefied (2020-) HowlDowngrade

It got silly this season. Thanksgiving was a standout. It stopped preaching to deliver the passion of family celebration. It's about good food and the asshole who keeps bringing up the past. Daddy roared mightily. Cousin chef has great nips. His girlfriend has a full vocabulary. The lesbians are scattered. The characters are blanching because the spices are fucked up. It seems disrespectful to fight over a policy that has been acknowledged by all parties. 05-Dec-2021
Celebrating the heritage that creates a Mexican that all else take for granted. Choices are different for families that break their bones for the sustainability of another race. The fear arises when in order to subsist, the heritage dissipates... like plastic.. because its environmentally abusive in the land of the free. They're obnoxious, loud, tacky, sweet, lovable, squishy, touching, funny and bright. Gracias. 04-Mar-2020

Lost In Space (2018-) Woof

S3. All grown up and still dazzling us. 03-Dec-2021
Season 2 served so much syrup it almost drowned the pancakes. The Robinsons' catastrophe meter wriggled so much I wondered why they're not in pieces. Am I supposed to notice that the robot has a big ass? The action rumbles, throttles and shakes you down. Big-screen treatment for a TV mindset. Dr. Smith is a hoot bitchier, the actors are scratching their posts and I'm still in. 05-Jan-2020
Even though the orangutan inspired robot invalidates its predecessor the show succeeded in modern interpretation. There's papi squish, mama force, baby hutzpah and multicultural opportunity. Constructive sci-fi action and Parker Posey's iteration of Dr. Smith as the ultimate lying bitch are its standouts. 29-Jun-2018

Scoob (2020) Arf

Scoob wasted little time visiting memory lane. Shaggy almost lost me when he ate the meat that Scooby dragged across the city's streets. Shaggy's voice doesn't crack enough. Scooby's diction has cleared up and he's become an Avenger. The visits from neighboring toons are a nice touch but are not properly integrated into the Scooby mythology. It's origins taught kids how to unmask the monsters in their lives and fight back. The movie missed that point. They sure were cute, though. 28-Nov-2021

Hazel (1961-1966) ArfUpgrade

S5E19. Hazel's wide and depressed family has been exchanged for a fuckable "me too" daddy and his expensive "baby smell" wife. This episode has the boy vying for the affections of a child molester and and a horny old lady. May the best woman win. 26-Nov-2021
S4E17. Boy ghosts Hazel when he takes an interest in girls. Boy becomes a man when the girl asks him to be a fairy. 16-Nov-2021
S4E5. The flagpole. Wide daddy has issues with his partner's interracial relationship. Partner broke code by supplying a migrant woman and her child food. Hazel thinks she can reunite them by gifting one a 30 foot flagpole. Woke people have a Republican slant. 13-Nov-2021
S3E28. Hazel resolves an immigration problem by lying about it. 11-Nov-2021
Woke folk hire and applaud the bumbling adventures of a loud, semi-cultural and uncommon maid who has black friends. It doesn't matter how catastrophic the bumble the family always forgave her because she could cook. Shirley Booth struggled with pitch and our patience. She quivered and stumped. Don DeFore was "Batman: The Animated series" ginormous. Whitney Blake screamed of isolation and loneliness. The boy was mostly seen at dinner. The series stabbed modern culture while eulogizing it's past. 08-Nov-2021
