Palm Springs’ ‘Forever Marilyn’ opponents suffer legal blow

Opponents of a massive Marilyn Monroe statue in downtown Palm Springs suffered a legal blow today, though the fight is far from over.

A group of residents calling themselves the "Committee to Relocate Marilyn" sued the city in March for allowing "Forever Marilyn'' to be placed downtown, alleging it violated various municipal and state codes in agreeing to close Museum Way during the statue's three-year stay, among other grievances.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge James Latting ruled in favor of a motion submitted by the city's lawyers seeking to have four of the committee's six causes of action dismissed on Thursday.

"It is the city's hope that the committee will end what remains of its lawsuit, so that we as a community can move on and focus our energy on more productive issues, such as homelessness, affordable housing, economic development and the environment."

California Court Strikes Down Part of Law Protecting LGBTQ+ Seniors

Associate Judge Elena Duarte wrote on behalf of the court, “We recognize that misgendering may be disrespectful, discourteous, and insulting.” But Duarte wrote that misgendering “does indeed convey an ideological message,” making it protected speech. The “pronoun provision” of the law “is a content-based restriction of speech that does not survive strict scrunity,” she said.

Paris Jackson says her family thinking ‘homosexuality is taboo’ made life ‘really hard’

Paris, who publicly confirmed she was queer last year but said she had been out for “years”, explained that she was “still kind of figuring it out”.

But her religious family members, she said, made coming to terms with her sexuality “really hard”.

“My family is very religious, and a lot of, like, homosexuality is just very taboo, so they don’t like to talk about it,” Paris said.

“It’s not really accepted…

Young people who've come out as asexual reveal what it's REALLY like to have zero attraction to others - and say they're tired of being told 'you just haven't met the right person yet'

Young peope who define themselves as asexual have been sharing the often negative reactions they experience if they're open about their lack of sexual desire - including being told they simply haven't 'met the right person'.

One of the most prominent voices for the asexual community in the UK is 24-year-old Yasmin Benoit, a model and activist who wants to raise visibility of asexuality and aromanticism.

'They were, like: 'You don't look asexual, you're probably just insecure, or you must have got molested or you must be gay? Maybe you're a psychopath', said Yasmin.

Rapper Lil Mama wants a “heterosexual rights movement” after facing backlash for hateful comments

Rapper and reality TV personality Lil Mama claims that she wants to “start a heterosexual rights movement” so that straight people can express hatred against LGBTQ people more freely.

“So children are too young to smoke cigarettes, too young to drink alcohol, too young to get a driver’s license, too young to go to a club, too young to gamble, too young to rent a car, but old enough to cut off their genitals and/or ‘change’ their gender? This is insanity America,” she said, adding that transgender people are “depopulation at any cost.”

“Y’all fight so hard to be respected and SOME of you NOT ALL get a kick out [of] bullying people for having an [opinion],” she wrote. “There are so many people afraid to give their honest [opinion] because if they do the LGBTQ+ will hear what they want to hear and take statements out of context.”

Judges Say Using Nonbinary Defendant’s Correct Pronouns Is Too Hard

“Clarity suffers and confusion may follow when legal writing refers to a single individual as ‘they,’ especially when the materials advert to other actors who are naturally described as ‘they’ or ‘them’ in the traditional plural,” Judge Steven M. Colloton wrote on behalf of the panel.

Olivia Wilde and Ellen DeGeneres "ganged up" on Jason Sudeikis and gave him a surprise haircut

The 43-year-old actor returned to the show after serving as a guest host on Friday, and host Ellen DeGeneres asked if Sudeikis' wife, Olivia Wilde, liked his long hair. Sudeikis was then surprised by Wilde, 35, who came out and said, "It's the same as my hair. There's only room for one of these in our house."

Jesse Tyler Ferguson is doing everything to raise his child as gay

“We’re raising him gay until he decides he’s straight,” Ferguson said. “On the way back from the hospital, we played Britney Spears, because that was Justin’s one demand to listen to, that was his first exposure to music.”

“You’ll love him just the same if he is straight?” Ellen asked.

Kevin Spacey continues bizarre Christmas tradition of tone-deaf videos

Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey shared a third annual Christmas Eve video Thursday that left many wondering whether he knew how to read the room.

The nearly 2½-minute YouTube video, which he also posted on his Twitter feed, featured Spacey, 61, addressing the camera directly while walking in an unidentified park.

Mr. Spacey is not talking to us, he's talking to his people. Someone needs to and who better. A representative might calm those fuckers down. I fell for his attempt at honesty until he shook it off. The important thing is the message to the pedos got through. Did I do good daddy? 24-Dec-2020

Is Being an Older LGBTQ+ Person as Terrifying as It Sounds?

Someone asked me the other day what my favorite movie was, and I immediately said Arthur, like I always do. Then they said, “Never heard of it? When did it come out?” I didn’t answer 1981, nearly 40 years ago. At that moment I felt old, out of date, and superficially shallow.

Thus, I was not surprised by a new report from The Fenway Institute that found older LGBTQ+ adults in the state of Massachusetts have been diagnosed with depression at twice the rate of their straight, cisgender peers. It could be Massachusetts or any other state, or any other country because depression among older LGBTQ+ people is real, and no doubt much more widespread than we ever realize. I always tell people that if it could happen to me, the proverbial life of the party, it can happen to anyone. Having dealt with severe depression, and then having sought out many older LGBTQ+ people who also experienced similar circumstances, I found it remarkable that we all suffered from some sort of PTSD from our youths.

Again, not surprised that the report also found that LGBTQ+ individuals were twice as likely to fall and be injured in a fall over the past year, and I wouldn’t be shocked to hear if some of that was related to dangerous behavior about feeling alone and useless. Another woman, a lesbian, told me that she had a life-threatening operation, and has not been the same since and feels there’s nothing to live for, except her cat, who is 10. Otherwise, she is alone, without her partner who died, and without a family to take care of her. The family has made her feel shame for who she is, and she worries about being alone for the remainder of her life. Some days, she doesn’t feel like getting out of bed, and subsists on her Social Security checks, desperately afraid that she’ll end up in a nursing home left to die. We didn’t discuss it, but I’m sure she feels equal trepidation about not being able to pay the costs of round-the-clock care.

Bisexual man ordered to pay ex-wife thousands after she accused him of hiding his homosexuality. Only, he’s not gay

A bisexual man has been ordered to pay emotional and economic damages to his ex-wife for the supposed crime of hiding his sexuality.

In a case that perfectly epitomises the problem of bi erasure, Spanish attorney Javier Vilalta was accused of concealing his “homosexuality” from his ex-wife, from whom he amicably parted in 2009.

The couple were married three years but had been in a relationship from the age of 16 to 34, during which time Vilalta’s sense of his sexuality began to change.

Viggo Mortensen suggests he’s not “completely straight” following gay role backlash

Due to his 11-year relationship with Spanish actress Ariadna Gil, Viggo – who makes his directorial debut with the film – has received criticism for playing an LGBTQ+ character.

In a recent interview with The Times, the star called the long-running debate over heterosexual actors playing LGBTQ+ roles a “healthy” one to have, but said he “didn’t think it was a problem” during the casting process.

“People then ask me, “Well what about Terry Chen, who plays my husband in the film, is he a homosexual?” And the answer is I don’t know,” he explained.

“I would never have the temerity to ask someone if they were. And how do you know what my life is? You’re assuming that I’m completely straight.”

Viggo went on to say: “Maybe I am, maybe I’m not. And it’s frankly none of your business. I want my movie to work, and I want the character of John to be effective.

Cruel dad forced his teenage son to undress and whipped him mercilessly after finding out he was using Grindr

Courts in Plymouth heard how the father launched into a brutal display of dominance against his own child as he lashing he son 20 times while calling him gay and a “woman” for joining the queer dating app.

The man, who is in his 40s but cannot be named to protect the identity of his son, forced his son to strip to just his underwear, PlymouthLive reported, in a disturbing saga that came to an end when the son fled his family home and broke down at school.

“You shouted: ‘What’s that between your legs?’

Our teen was pretty and popular, and she threw it away to become ‘they’

My 14-year-old daughter recently came out of the closet, and it has made my husband and me quite upset. She says she is “bicurious, pansexual and polyamorous.”

She now insists everyone call her by a gender-neutral name, gave herself a side shave and dyed her hair pink after we repeatedly told her not to. She wants us to refer to her as “they” and not “she.”

Boys used to like her, and she used to have friends, but she threw it all away to be “unique.” You may think we should let her be true to herself, but in the process, she is disrespecting us and ruining her image. She thinks she’s all grown up and can do whatever she wants, and I just can’t get through to her.

She is also letting herself go. She used to be in good shape, but she quit track and field because it was a “gender-conforming” sport. She is now getting chubby, looks horrible and is depressed. Help!

Men Who Love Men But Who Don’t Want to Be Called ‘Gay’ Are Now Opting for This Label Instead

Men who love men but who don’t identify with the LGBTQ community have come up with a new word to describe themselves in this ‘new light.’

“I think ‘homosexual’ is a bit clinical, and lots of people use it negatively,” Nicolas Chinardet says. “‘Gay’ has a certain lifestyle attached to it, which I don’t recognize myself in.”

Chinardet doesn’t relate to what he calls “the clichés you could attach to the ‘gay’ scene”. A club photographer, he says unless he’s working, “I don’t go clubbing. I don’t like shopping.”
