Florida city repeals 13-year ban on saggy pants

After 13 years, a South Florida city has overturned a ban on “saggy pants” — bottoms that reveal the wearer's underwear.

The Opa-locka City Commission voted Wednesday on a 4-1 vote to repeal both the original 2007 legislation and a 2013 ordinance that said women, not just men, could receive civil citations for wearing pants that exposed their undergarments.

A gay couple were reportedly spat on and choked by pool patrons for having “too narrow swimming trunks and an earring in the ear”.

The victims told Our Cafe Newspaper: “One of the men defiantly spat at our feet, and then began to shout and insult in the presence of other vacationers.

“We were warned that we will burn in hell, and can not leave the pool alive.

Jay Manuel Explains Why His Friendship With Tyra Banks Soured

America’s Next Top Model is just as famous for its contestants as it is for the show’s creators and judges. Fans remember Jay Manuel as the models’ coach at each photoshoot. Manuel’s off-screen role was as a famous makeup artist and close friend of Tyra Banks. Fans speculated that his exit from the reality show is the reason for his relationship with Banks changing for the worse. In a new interview, Manuel explains what led to the breakdown of his friendship with Banks.

Manuel says working on ANTM for the first three seasons was “bubblegum and roses” but the culture behind the scenes of the show began to change as the show became more popular. At first, Manuel had full creative control over the photoshoots but says the show’s executives began enforcing their input, which sometimes made him uncomfortable.

Hat Named for Racial Slur Latest Race Controversy for H&M

The women's clothing company & Other Stories is under investigation by its parent company, H&M group, after employees complained last month about a photo in an internal product overview system which labeled a purple hat as a "[N-word] Lab Beanie."

"We are deeply sorry about the word connected to an image of a product that was sent out to our stores during July," & Other Stories' Managing Director Karolina Gutke wrote in a July 21 memo to employees, according to CNN. "This is completely unacceptable and there is no excuse to why this happened."

James Harden Slammed for Wearing Face Mask With Pro-Cop Symbol

James Harden is catching heat over the design of his coronavirus protective gear.

On Thursday night, the Houston Rockets star was spotted in Orlando rocking a face covering that appeared to feature a pro-law enforcement graphic. The piece showed a skull on top of a black-and-white American flag pattern with a single blue stripe running through it. Twitter users immediately blasted Harden after realizing the mask was covered with the "thin blue line" flag, a controversial symbol that's displayed in support for officers.

'We met a Karen': Black and Latino residents film woman accosting them for using their neighborhood pool who demands their address because she doesn't recognize them

An unknown woman has been filmed demanding that two black and Latino residents prove they live in the neighborhood by giving her their address.

The video, filmed in North Carolina earlier this week, shows a white woman questioning two people that she doesn't recognize, accusing them of trespassing into her neighborhood to use the pool - despite the fact they also live there.

In an apparent racial dispute the woman, dressed in yellow and holding her phone up as if about to make a call, shouts: 'I know everyone who lives here.'

An Illinois woman said she believes in “white power” while explaining why she wasn’t wearing a face mask at a Home Depot, video shows.

The woman, identified by cops as 54-year-old Teri A. Hill, allegedly got enraged when another shopper reminded her to keep her own mask on while complaining to an employee Friday that too many customers weren’t wearing face coverings at a store in McHenry.

Stamford man caught in Cove video charged with hate crime, assault

City police have charged a Stamford man, who was caught on video berating a group of young Black and Latino men at Cove Island Park last month, with a hate crime and multiple counts of assault.
Steven Mike Dudek, 57, who police say sprayed four of the men with pepper spray, was videoed shouting at the group and then calling police to report he was being harassed by a “bunch of Black men.”

On Thursday Stamford police charged Dudek with four counts of second-degree assault, first-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias and falsely reporting an incident to police, according to Stamford Police Capt. Richard Conklin and Lt. Tom Scanlon.

One of the men asks for his name and Dudek replies, “My name is God.”

Everlane clothing brand is accused of racism by former employees

A group of former employees that worked at the sustainable clothing retail brand Everlane is calling for people to boycott the company in the wake of their experiences of racism in the workplace.

The group has taken to social media, calling themselves the "Everlane Ex-Wives Club" and shared a lengthy Google document titled “Everlane’s Convenient Transparency” — aptly named after the company’s own promise of “radical transparency" — outlining numerous displays of racism or micro-aggressions. According to the document, the group is made up of former Black, POC, and white allied employees.

One of the sections detailed a Black woman's experience in which she wrote the chief creative officer, Alexandra Spunt, would plunge her hands into the woman’s hair “pulling at my roots and referring to us being ‘soul sisters.'" Still more shared stories of their creative ideas being stolen by their white colleagues.

Black Exotic Dancers Demand Better Treatment With ‘Stripper Strike’

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, when strip clubs across the country were shuttering and dancers found themselves abruptly out of work, the Portland, Oregon strip club the Lucky Devil Lounge started a food-delivery service called Boober Eats in order to provide some of its employees work. The concept went viral (and was, in fact, covered by this publication), but local black dancers noticed something odd: its Instagram featured relatively few black dancers.

This wasn’t surprising to some black dancers in Portland, like Cat Hollis and Brianna Cistrunk, who say the club has a reputation for almost exclusively hiring white dancers. “They say they’re a ‘rock ‘n roll club’ [which means] they only hire a certain aesthetic,” Cistrunk says. “It’s an unspoken thing but it’s very well-known among most girls.” This perception was magnified a few weeks later, following the death of George Floyd, when the club posted a (now-deleted) photo on Instagram of #BlackLivesMatter flags festooning the stage. “There was a huge argument that happened in the comments,” says Hollis. She commented: “There are more #BlackLivesMatter signs than there have ever been black butts on that stage.” (Shon Boulden, owner of the Lucky Devil Lounge, tells Rolling Stone the controversy stemmed from “a lot of misconceptions of how our club operates,” though he acknowledged that only two or three of the club’s 30 dancers are black.”If there ever was the idea that we weren’t open to hiring all ethnicities, I guess I’d just want say, yes of course we do,” he says. “In our hiring, maybe it didn’t look like we were.”)

YouTuber Tati Westbrook says she was 'weaponized' by Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star in plot to ruin beauty guru James Charles - insisting they fed her lies and 'gaslit' her into making a video about his alleged predatory behavior

YouTube star Tati Westbrook has made shocking new claims against fellow influencers Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson, accusing them of 'using' her in a plot to destroy the career of beauty guru James Charles by 'manipulating' her into making a video exposing his alleged predatory behavior.

The 38-year-old opened up about a year-old drama in a very tearful video posted to her YouTube channel on Tuesday, finally shedding some light on the bitter feud between herself and Charles, which was sparked when she called him out for 'seducing straight men' and 'tricking them into thinking they are gay'.

When the claims were first aired in Westbrook's May 2019 video, they prompted a bitter backlash against Charles, who lost more than three million subscribers in the wake of the video going live. Westbrook also faced fury from his fans, and subsequently disappeared from her channel for months.
