US MILITARY WARNS OF “AUGMENTED HUMAN BEINGS”

The U.S. military has ambitious plans to turn its soldiers into high-tech cyborg warriors by making them stronger, enhancing their senses, and wiring their brains to computers.

Pentagon brass thinks these cyborgs will make their way to the battlefield by 2050, Army Times reports. The Department of Defense just declassified a report from October that details its plans for “human/machine fusion,” revealing its bizarre plan to bring to life military tech that’s always been safely quarantined within the realm of science fiction.

DARPA: This Smart Contact Lens Could Give Soldiers Superpowers

French engineering school IMT Atlantique revealed what it calls “the first stand-alone contact lens with a flexible micro battery” earlier this month.

And, notably, it caught the attention of the U.S. military’s attention: the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is reportedly interested in the contact lens to augment troops’ visual capabilities in the field, according to Task and Purpose — meaning the gadget could represent the augmented contact lens that DARPA has spent a decade searching for.

The biggest challenge that IMT Atlantique engineers encountered was to scale down the battery. But thanks to a newly developed flexible micro battery, they found a way to continuously light an LED light source for “several hours,” according to a press release.

TRUMP VOTER TURNS ON PRESIDENT AS HE VISITS CALIFORNIA AFTER BLAMING STATE FOR WILDFIRES: "HE CAN KISS MY RED ASS"

A man who voted for Donald Trump and was recently impacted by wildfires in California blasted the president’s response to the deadly crisis.

“My kids lost everything. I voted for him – and now? He can kiss my red ass,” Kirk Ellsworth from Northern California told The Guardian. “What he said was ridiculous. It hurts my heart. A lot of us voted for him and he [talks] down to us?”

As news of casualties and the devastation caused by a recent spate of forest fires broke last weekend, the president blamed California for the disaster while also threatening to cut federal payments to a state which had overwhelmingly rejected Trump and his party at the polls earlier this month.

The FDA says ecstasy is a ‘breakthrough’ drug for PTSD patients
It's a big step forward for a controversial treatment.

Ecstasy doesn’t sound like something you do in a doctor’s office. But the Food and Drug Administration wants that to change. The FDA just approved the substance, more clinically known as MDMA, as a ‘breakthrough’ drug—and will work to move it through clinical trials as efficiently as possible.

The FDA only grants breakthrough status when a medication (for a serious disease) is likely to offer significantly better results than currently available treatments. It may seem wild that the same drug that EDM lovers take at raves is going to help soldiers recover from war-related trauma. But if you know how MDMA works, it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Ecstasy makes you feel great, and that’s why it’s such an effective therapy

Why States Should Ban Guns From Political Rallies

Some of the neo-Nazis and white supremacists, and as well as number of protesters within the Antifas group, openly carried assault rifles during the events in Charlottesville. The governor has said the police were outgunned at the event. Given the hate-filled speech and the ensuing physical violence, it is remarkable that no shots were fired. We were a trigger-pull away from a bloody shootout with semi-automatic weapons.

Some have suggested that the First Amendment right to congregate and to speak one's mind — no matter how repugnant the content of the speech — conflicted with the Second Amendment right to bear arms at a political rally. The problem with this is that, while the courts have unambiguously affirmed the former, there is no Constitutional right to bear arms at a political rally.

Army lost track of more than $1 billion in Humvees, weapons in Iraq, report says

The U.S. Army lost track of more than $1 billion worth of Humvees, rifles and other equipment meant for local allies in the fight against ISIS, according to a report.

An audit of the Iraqi Train and Equip Fund revealed that hundreds of Humvees, tens of thousands of rifles and hundreds of mortars were unaccounted for, according to Amnesty International.

The declassified report, published by the human rights group Wednesday, blamed the mishap on the lack of a central database for keeping track of the equipment destined for the Iraqi army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces.

The Department of Defense officials’ audit also revealed that the weapons are not tracked after being transferred to the Iraqi government.
