KANSAS OFFICIAL TELLS BLACK WOMAN HE'S MEMBER OF THE 'MASTER RACE:' 'DON'T EVER FORGET THAT'
A Kansas County commissioner is facing calls to apologize after telling a black woman that he is part of the “master race” during a routine public planning meeting.
The remark was made on Tuesday by Leavenworth County commissioner Louis Klemp, a white man, and seemingly directed at a woman presenting for an architecture firm. It has been branded as racist—and local media reported it was not the first time Klemp has sparked controversy.
“I don't want you to feel like I'm picking on you. Because we are part of the master race,” he said in the meeting. “You have a gap in your teeth you're the master race, don’t ever forget that.”
Bob Holland, another Leavenworth County commissioner, told KCTV5 that Klemp—who is reportedly due to leave his position on January 15 next year—should make an apology.
“What’s this master race?" Holland said on Wednesday. “None of us are a master race. We are all Americans, we are all human beings. I think he is a racist. I do. I think he owes an apology to that woman. I think he owes an apology to the whole commission. And the county.”

Hate crimes are surging under the Trump presidency. Maybe there’s a reason.
The FBI is reporting that last year saw the highest increase in hate crimes since 9/11.
Under the Trump presidency hate crimes incidents have spiked by 17 percent this year alone with antisemitic attacks rising by double digits. Trump has repeatedly supported white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and anti-LGBTQ hate groups while holding office.
The massive increase in reported hate crimes has coincided with Trump’s ascendency to the presidency. This is the third year in a row the number of incidents has grown.
Wisconsin high school students appear to make Nazi salute in prom photo
A Wisconsin school district is investigating a photo showing a group of high school boys apparently making the Nazi salute. A school official denounced the image on Twitter — and said it would pursue legal actions if necessary.
Baraboo Superintendent Dr. Lori Mueller said she became aware of the photo, which shows over 60 male students dressed in suits with their right arms extended upward, on Monday after it was posted on social media and received immediate backlash.

Andrew Gillum Shreds Donald Trump With Just 3 Little Words
The winner of Florida’s gubernatorial race is still up in the air, but even if he loses, Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum can take pride in at least one thing: he bested Donald Trump on Twitter.
And he only needed three words to do it.
On Monday, the president argued that the Florida election should be called in favor of Republicans Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott even though doing so would buck the state’s recount procedures.
However, he came out on top with his response to Trump’s conspiratorial tweet.
TRUMP LAWYER RUDY GIULIANI TAKES MYSTERY TRIPS TO RUSSIA, ARMENIA AND UKRAINE: REPORT
Giuliani had defended his business relationships, claiming that he had "friends all over the world."
"This is not a new thing for me," he told the Times. "When you become the mayor, you become interested in foreign policy. When I left, my major work was legal and security around the world."
During his trip to Armenia, Giuliani tweeted messages of support for Trump, claiming that "people here in Armenia think President Trump has once again restored America's leadership position."
"Many ARMENIANS want me to tell Americans that they love President Trump's dedication to making America Great Again," Giuliani said. "This will lead the world to peace and respect for human achievement and freedom."
The facts about Republicans’ hysteria over brown people
President Donald Trump tweeted a new ad that is almost too racist to believe on Wednesday.
The ad from Trump’s campaign, which accuses Democrats of allowing Mexicans and Central Americans to murder Americans, is the latest escalation in Republicans’ very obvious attempts to stoke fear about brown people and distract from unpopular conservative policies. The president’s party is widely expected to lose control of one chamber of Congress in Tuesday’s midterm elections.
While smearing immigrants is a time-honored tradition for many on the right, the president’s efforts to make a major campaign issue out of a migrant caravan traveling north from Central America (and currently 1,000 miles away from the U.S. border) has been echoed by prominent Republicans, Fox News, and numerous other propagandists in conservative media.
But don’t just take our word for it. Let’s dig into the data to show why Republicans’ recent cherry-picking has no basis in reality.

Inside the Fight to Uncover the Truth About Trump’s Anti-LGBT Crusade
In the wake of an explosive anti-transgender memo leaked from the Department of Health and Human Services and published by the New York Times, LGBT advocates have questions: Who proposed that “sex” be defined by original birth certificate? Was there any pushback? Who, if anyone, was consulted?
But under an administration that has not exactly been forthcoming on LGBT issues, the only way to get answers might be through Freedom of Information Act requests, the Human Rights Campaign says.

Joe Biden Says He’s ‘Sick And Tired’ Of The Trump Administration
“I am sick and tired of this administration. I am sick and tired of what’s going on. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I hope you are too,” Biden said, appropriating a famous quote by the black civil rights movement activist Fannie Lou Hamer.
“Folks, this election is different than any election,” he continued. “This is bigger than politics, this election. It really is bigger than politics. I think we’re in a battle for America’s soul.”
Gillum hits back at Trump after president calls him ‘a thief’
Tallahassee Mayor and Florida gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum hit back at President Donald Trump on Monday, after Trump called Gillum a “thief” in an inflammatory tweet.
“In Florida there is a choice between a Harvard/Yale educated man named @RonDeSantisFL who has been a great Congressman and will be a great Governor - and a Dem who is a thief and who is Mayor of poorly run Tallahassee, said to be one of the most corrupt cities in the Country!” Trump tweeted on Monday morning, without providing any evidence of crimes.
Soon after, Gillum called out Trump on Twitter.
“On Twitter there is a choice between having the courage to @ the person you are trash talking, or not. @realDonaldTrump is howling because he’s weak. Florida, go vote today.”
CHRIS EVANS SLAMS DONALD TRUMP IN MOCKING TWEET: ‘NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN TREATED SO UNFAIRLY’
“There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue,” Evans tweeted. “The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.”

For LGBTQ People Under Trump, the Levers of Power Are Blocked
As an LGBTQ person, it was hard to watch Donald Trump’s 2016 election without at least some worry—that one rainbow flag aside, he didn’t seem like much of an ally. Many LGBTQ activists, aware of the influence of right-wing evangelical hate groups (such as the Alliance Defending Freedom and Family Research Council) on Trump and his policies, viewed his elevation with acute mortal dread. They were right to worry: The Trump administration has been hostile to LGBTQ people, and transgender people in particular.
Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court has redoubled those fears. Most LGBTQ people instinctively know that a hard-right shift by the courts will be bad, but only dedicated court watchers understand exactly how bad. The current composition of SCOTUS is likely, in a matter of years, to destabilize or outright undo four decades of LGBTQ civil rights progress. Most of the cases that could be responsible for this are already wending their way through the federal court system, chaperoned by the Alliance Defending Freedom, or ADF.
