Kanye West says 'slavery is a choice' as he shares video of giant wall he is building around his LA mansion

'When you hear about slavery for 400 years ... for 400 years?' told TMZ then. 'That sounds like a choice. We're mentally imprisoned.'

He later apologized for the remarks but appeared to take it back again Tuesday as he continued by asking for 'an army of angels to cover me while I pull this sword out of the stone'.

'I need everyone's prayers ... I promise we will be free and own our masters but we must be faithful to God this time,' West added.

'No more killing each other. No more threatening to take each other's girls and wives ... let's show the world how great we truly are. We are God's chosen people.

Tekashi 6ix9ine Says He Felt ‘Ready’ to Snitch

We all stared in confusion last September when Tekashi 6ix9ine testified against his former associates in the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, implicating Cardi B and Jim Jones, among other oddities. Now, after heading home early from prison and restarting his rap career, 6ix9ine explained what was going through this his tangled rainbow head in an interview with the New York Times. Shortly after his former manager, Anthony “Harv” Ellison, was arrested for kidnapping 6ix9ine, the rapper’s lawyer got a call from federal agents saying 6ix9ine’s life was in danger. They met with the feds, who were already monitoring him. On November 18, two days after appearing on “The Breakfast Club,” he says he was scared and tired. “On Sunday, I went downstairs and I said, ‘I need to speak to your boss,’” he recalled. “I’m ready to snitch now.” The next day, he was arrested on federal charges of racketeering and firearms related to organized gang activity. He was facing up to 47 years in prison but got off with just two years; 13 months were for time spent, and four more were under house arrest. The defendants, Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack, are currently facing life in prison. “This probably sounds sick, but I didn’t have a worry, because I wanted to testify,” 6ix9ine said. “That’s sick, right? But I wanted to tell my truth.”

“I really want this to hit home: When I was kidnapped, was I a victim?” he continued. “Did I cooperate? No. When they were stealing money from shows, did I cooperate? No. Did I have many chances to tell the police what I saw? Yes. I was following a street code that was upheld by me and that I thought was real.” 6ix9ine doesn’t worry with his new security team, which can give him “eight, 12, 22” bodyguards. Even the feds didn’t think witness protection would work. “You’re too noticeable,” he remembered them saying.

We’re Witnessing the Total Breakdown of Discourse

June’s wave of protest songs and statements of solidarity with Black Lives Matter among artists, activists, journalists, celebrities, and brands in and around hip-hop and beyond spoke to the ability of the community at large to mobilize around important issues. We’ve seen leaders called to the floor for their records on policing, organizations like the “Washington Football Team” reckoning belatedly with historical insensitivity, and renewed calls for representation in film, publishing, and journalism. Overdue milestones are being met.

But the summer has been marred by avoidable squabbles in the hip-hop community. J. Cole got into it in June with Chicago rapper and activist Noname, after he released “Snow on tha Bluff,” in which he criticizes an intelligent woman he believes to be lording knowledge over men who desperately need it.

When news broke that Megan Thee Stallion had been shot during a night out with Kylie Jenner and Tory Lanez, the internet exploded with jokes, reinforcing Noname’s frustrations just a few weeks prior. Model, author, and actress Chrissy Teigen landed in hot water by cracking wise about Meg twerking on Twitter.

Cam’ron weighed in on Instagram, saying “Tory saw that dick and started shootn,” parroting vile rhetoric that portrays trans women as deceitful figures who prey on unsuspecting cis straight men.

Federal judge's son shot and killed, husband injured in attack at their NJ home

The son of a federal judge in Newark, New Jersey, has been shot and killed, and her husband shot and injured in an attack at the family's home, according to law enforcement sources.

The judge, Esther Salas, was not hurt.

Francis “Mac” Womack, the mayor of North Brunswick, New Jersey, tells ABC News that the judge’s son has died.

The condition of husband was not immediately known, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone told ABC News.

The judge’s son opened the door and was immediately shot, sources said.

“He was shot through the heart,” Womack said. The son was a freshman at Catholic University.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Where Is the Outrage Over Anti-Semitism in Sports and Hollywood?

Recent incidents of anti-Semitic tweets and posts from sports and entertainment celebrities are a very troubling omen for the future of the Black Lives Matter movement, but so too is the shocking lack of massive indignation. Given the New Woke-fulness in Hollywood and the sports world, we expected more passionate public outrage. What we got was a shrug of meh-rage.

When reading the dark squishy entrails of popular culture, meh-rage in the face of sustained prejudice is an indisputable sign of the coming Apatholypse: apathy to all forms of social justice. After all, if it’s OK to discriminate against one group of people by hauling out cultural stereotypes without much pushback, it must be OK to do the same to others. Illogic begets illogic.

Ice Cube’s June 10 daylong series of tweets, which involved some creepy symbols and images, in general implied that Jews were responsible for the oppression of blacks. NFL player DeSean Jackson tweeted out several anti-Semitic messages, including a quote he incorrectly thought was from Hitler (not your go-to guy for why-can’t-we-all-get-along quotes) stating that Jews had a plan to “extort America” and achieve “world domination.” Isn’t that SPECTRE’s job in James Bond movies?

Disturbing video shows teens beating pregnant mom, kicking toddler

A group of teens pummeled a pregnant Illinois mom — and even drop-kicked her helpless tot — during a caught-on-video brawl, according to footage and reports.

The disturbing confrontation circulating on Twitter showed two young women attacking the woman as she stood with her young daughter outside a home Friday in the village of Brooklyn.

Two of the girls are seen in the footage attacking the woman, pulling her hair and pushing her to the ground.

A third girl filmed the attack on the mom, who is pregnant, The Sun reported.

As the group clobbered the mom, a teen boy suddenly ran over and kicked the toddler in the head, the report said.

Florida homeowner shoots and kills two 'extremely violent' burglars and injures another after they broke into his house during the night

A teenager is facing charges for a would-be armed home invasion robbery in Florida in which his two accomplices were shot and killed and he was wounded.

Jeremiah Trammel, 19, was shot after his accomplices, Luis Casado, 21, and Khyle Durham, 21, had already been shot dead during the alleged break-in.

The person who shot the two men was the homeowner who was using a gun to defend himself in Wesley Chapel, near Tampa.

Cardi B criticised for using racist term to describe her sister

Cardi B is facing heavy criticism for using a racist slur to describe her sister’s appearance on social media.

The artist had shared a composite photograph of how her two-year-old daughter Kulture might look as an adult, based on images of both Cardi and her husband, Migos‘ Offset, per The Independent.

After a fan pointed out the similarities between the image and her sister Hennessy Carolina, Cardi replied: “I think cause Hennessy got chinky eyes like Offset and so KK [Kulture Kiari]. It’s the only think I could think off [sic]”.

With election year comes slander, controversy and your occasional celebrity political rants. Politics met entertainment with the latest celebrity rant, coming from Nicki Minaj, in which she rapped in vote of Republican Mitt Romney. This was a shock to fans and celebrity bloggers everywhere, but Nicki is not the only popular African-American face that has shown favor to the GOP. Here is a list of some African-American celebrities who have supported or are affiliated with the Republican party...

LL Cool J attended the Republican Convention in 2004 and has been a supporter of Republican New York governor George Pataki back in 2002. He has never officially stated his political party.

Why China’s hip-hop stars are staying silent on Black Lives Matter

After a 2017 rap show got a generation of China’s youth hooked on hip hop, the musical genre has created dozens of Chinese stars and, along with them, billions of streaming views.

But despite their enthusiasm for a culture that originated in the African-American community, Chinese hip-hop stars and their legions of fans have largely stayed silent on the Black Lives Matter movement, which has swept across the world after the police killing of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, in Minneapolis.

Sun Bayi, a Beijing-based rapper, said he was not in a position to comment on the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I know racism in theory, but it’s hard to empathise with it,” said the rapper, whose favourite artists are Eminem and the Notorious B.I.G. “I’m not black. I have never lived in America. What can I say about it?”

California Authorities Bring Suit Against 'Criminal Minds' Team for "Unchecked" Sexual Harassment

California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing wants to make a stand against sexual harassment in Hollywood. This past week, the agency took the bold step of filing suit against the various studios behind CBS' Criminal Minds as well as the executive producers of the series, which had its final episode in February.

The complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court discusses alleged sexual touching by Gregory St. Johns, who acted as a director of photography on the show. He's been the subject of court action already, but what makes this particular legal action so extraordinary is that California authorities have decided to go after The Walt Disney Company, ABC Signature Studios, CBS Studios and various individuals for what happened.

"With the aid of defendants, St. Johns created an unchecked intimidating, hostile, and offensive work environment on the set of Criminal Minds," states the complaint. "Protected by the executive production team — including showrunner Erica Messer, executive producer Harry Bring, executive producer John Breen Frazier, director Glenn Kershaw, and unit production manager Stacey Beneville — St. Johns continued his unlawful conduct for years. Defendants’ executive team not only had actual and constructive knowledge of St. Johns’ abusive conduct, they condoned it. No necessary steps to prevent sex-based harassment and discrimination were taken over the years, nor were appropriate corrective actions. Instead, the executives fired anyone who resisted or who tacitly evaded St. Johns’ advances or abuse."

AIRBNB RAP VIDEO SHOOT WITH UP TO 200 PEOPLE RESULTS IN MULTIPLE ARRESTS, MORE THAN 20 GUNS SEIZED

Four men were arrested in Chicago yesterday after allegedly resisting arrest as police tried to disperse an over-capacity video shoot for a rap song, authorities said.

The suspects were detained shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday. Officers from the Chicago Police Department responded to the 1200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue after receiving reports about a party that was taking place inside an Airbnb rental, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Police received a tip that over 150 people were gathered there and that dozens of them had been seen brandishing guns live on social media.

"Officers formulated a plan and made entry into the building where individuals streamed out of the building, pushing and fighting police, discarding weapons as they fled," police said in a release shared online.

"A systematic search of the building yielded a total of 24 handguns and one semi-automatic, short barrel rifle."

Trial to begin in 9-year-old's killing that shocked Chicago

It stands as one of Chicago's most horrific crimes, in large part because of small details that are impossible to shake: The promise of a juice box that lured the 9-year-old boy off a playground and into an alley, and the basketball he dropped when he was shot and killed there.

Jury selection will begin Friday in the murder trial of two of three men charged with carrying out the November 2015 attack on Tyshawn Lee, a smart fourth-grader who prosecutors say was killed by gang members to send a message to his father, a purported member of a rival gang.
