S4E1. Before Betty White drowned us in honey she perfected an empowered slut known as "The Happy Homemaker." She is introduced during one of Mary's lousy parties in which Phyllis' husband takes her home and almost never returns. The affair is handled with aplomb. A well versed human rights campaigner versus an eager and empowered cunt. The ladies are fabulous, Mary has the best solution and Teddy/Aquaman was delicious. 20-Dec-2020
S3E17. Classic sex identification episode. It's Mary's first party, Georgette is on hand to steal it and Rhoda is dating Phyllis' brother whose meant for Mary. The adult banter is resplendent, the emotions are on cue and the acting is sublime. 05-Dec-2020

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving (1973)
The old fossil envisioned the future better than Sci-fi movies could. Lesbian (Peppermint Patty) imposes herself on sex confused Charlie Brown for Thanksgiving. Even though the underdog (CB) has plans with grandma he doesn't want to disappoint his friends and so with a little help from his cohorts, he concocts a non-traditional dinner. Linus is Anderson Cooper quoting the bible and mythological news with acid humor. Lucy is my sister. Marcie is waiting for Peppermint Patty to ask her out and cut the CB crap. Sally is my angel. Snoopy is the perverted relative or friend that would perform out of this world feats and lick your kids' faces during commercials. The bird was his underaged twink. Ok, I don't like Snoopy. He always took the reality out of the lesson and fuck him for hiding that turkey. Franklin was invited, sat at the table and was gender-identified. It was progress. You get to sit at the table. Good for you. Don't waste it. The lessons were sweet and the babies are classic. Good memories cause us no harm. 26-Nov-2020
Born Innocent (1974)
When parents renege their responsibility and abandon the broken miracles that made them, said kids are predetermined to live in a dumpster until the fire. The experts offer loads of hypocrisy, sad mother replacement skills and mayhem to the confusion. The rape still bothers, Linda keeps you trembling and the parents keep us itching. The revolt was freeing. 17-Apr-2020
Summer Of Fear (1978)
Family inherits an itchy cousin that steals everything precious, teens take for granted... like dad. Thank god, there is a scream queen (Blair,) a future nanny (Drescher) and a capable director (Craven) on the case. Crap fun. 10-Apr-2020
Go Ask Alice (1973)
Diary of a teen with an addictive personality. It is nice to hear the words of tragedy being spoken by tragic and even though it enlightens, it doesn't resolve. Addictions occur the moment you can't latch on to life. It provides good details on soft parenting, physical instability, sex and pressure. The film bestows as many blessings as calamities. Griffith gives good priest, Mackenzie Phillips haunted and the Shat(ner) tries to steal the film with his blinkers. 24-Feb-2020
Season 5, episode 18: Samantha and Endora rap. 10-Feb-2019
7 Tabithas, 5 Aunt Hagathas, 2 Gladys Kravitzes, 2 Louise Tates, 2 Darrins, 1 Endora, 1 Uncle Arthur, 1 Maurice, 1 Dr. Bombay and the one and only, Samantha. 21-Jul-2017
Honeymooners Christmas Special, The (1977)
Art that was dethroned because the husband was always threatening to send his wife to the moon. It was an idle threat, Alice stood up for herself and the moon seemed like a better alternative to the planet my mother kept landing on.
Still humble, hard working, lacerating and funny. For Adults Only. 20-Jan-2019
25,0000 Pyramid, The (1974-1991)
Shelley Smith was a gorgeous brain and the vampire was condescending. 17-Sep-2018
It's a documentation of history. I am awe-struck by how quick witted and intelligent we once were. 09-Aug-2018
It was an envoy for obtaining dirt on celebrity exclusivity except we can look into the future and authenticate their testimonies. A game within itself. 15-Aug-2018
...because Tabitha (Erin Murphy) was an adorable moppet
...because Aunt Clara (Marion Lorne) was squishier than my dog
...because Dick York (Darrin) was such the professional that we never noticed the pain he was in 26-Jun-2018
...because Samantha stood for every unappreciated group that the child in me could figure out
...because it can't be sexist if its a "happy couple"
...because even when the fx failed them they never deferred from perfection... because for every three they missed they got one so perfectly right
...because Paul Lynde was a great gay uncle when they weren't allowed to socially exist
...because ever since this show capitalized on what magic should be we have been pretending that magic doesn't exist (except in realistic boring conjuring ways)
...because Gladys Kravitz (Alice Pearce) and the artist who created her epitomized the nosy neighbor until she became understood
...because Endora (Agnes Moorehead) is the lesbian Drag mother-in-law we deserve
...because Elizabeth Montgomery can kick Harry Potter's ass with just one twitch. 21-Jun-2018
Match Game '75 (1975)
These are the neighbors my mother warned me to stay away from. They party hard and a little too loud. They growl at life and lacerate with truth and inappropriateness because they are surviving champions. I love these people. 22-Nov-2017
Incredible Journey of Meg Laurel, The (1979)
The preach places us at the time but can't keep us there. If your message is strong enough, one speech is enough because the art should proclaim the rest. Lindsay is at her best when all is natural and intensive labor is involved. She doesn't hit all her notes but by then you're hooked on the star. Jane Wyman has no such weaknesses because she helped create art and is legend. 10-Aug-2017
Night Drive (1977)
The thriller induces driving paranoia. Valerie Harper adds depth to it because she is a reactive actress who can convey much with just a sigh. 23-May-2017
Julia (1968 - 1971)
I watched Julia as a kid with wild eyed wonder. There was a dark skinned mother making history on TV unlike my own that was representing. Sometimes as a Latin community we forget that all the shades we are borne from that the familial take for granted, the rest of the world compartmentalizes. I allowed this TV family to transport me out of the ghetto to a world of interracial harmony and inclusivity. It had inspired me to dream.
I was aware of its history but I wasn't privy to its controversy because I didn't want to watch a show with a one way ticket whose train screeched to a halt at poverty. I never understood how Flip in a dress spoke to the black community whilst Julia insulted it.
Revisiting it as an adult, though details were long lost, the feelings of warmth, innocence and quiet remain. The writers were not adept at making Julia wholly uncontrolled or a heedful parent but Diahann gave her eloquence, ferocity and refinement. If that's all it has to offer...I'll take it. 17-Feb-2017
Brady Bunch, The (1969 - 1974)
The show doesn't pretend to be anything but a bubblegum machine. I'm sure good intent and wishful thinking was in its heart and that's why we forgive any ineptitude. When the gum machine crashes and cracks is when the Bradys evolve into unique portraits of family we can extend our arms to. Not because they are so realistic but because they promise a nirvana that I wasn't able to reach in an abused family environment. Like other delusive scripts, I knew they weren't going to part the sea but I could imagine practicing to be the exceptional person these characters/players fancied themselves and maybe recreate parts of it. I wasn't able to turn water into wine but I could do that.
It is on my best list because like bubble gum they are vibrant in color, unique in flavor and everlasting even when the sugar has been exhausted. They chaperoned and safeguarded me against the fear whilst the real adults in my life generated chaos because it allowed my mind to find sense and hope to be parented. 01-Dec-2016
