Lesbian dating apps and sites for queer women and non-binary people

Yeah, yeah, dating apps are veritable cess pits of human garbage, I know - and that's if you can actually get replies from people. But when you're lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, non-binary, pansexual, any LGBTQIA+ identity, dating apps can connect you to people you might not encounter in your day to day life. And they can be a goddam lifeline.

Of course, most dating apps aren't build with us lot in mind. Nope, they're mainly for the straights. So, shortly after becoming single, I took it upon myself to test a variety of queer-specific and mainstream dating apps to see just how good they are for LGBTQ+ people. For context: I am a cis woman, and was up for dating people of all gender identities.

PS: Eight months later, I have a legend of a girlfriend who I met on one of these apps (but probably not the one you'd think...) during this experiment. Thanks journalism, thanks Cosmo you bloody matchmaker, I owe it all to you.

LGBTI incels: what it's like to be queer when no one will sleep with you

What is it like when no one will have sex with you? Months and years go by with no success on dating apps. Facing a sea of ‘no’s at bars and parties.

What does that do to a person?

The answer is complicated if you’re a sexual person. For some, it’s just a part of everyday life.

For incels, it is everything.

The involuntary celibate community spawned on the internet two decades ago. It is as multi-faceted as it is confusing to outsiders – boasting their own belief system and vocabulary.

But where do LGBTI people fall within the incel community? Mirroring ‘normie’ society, many incels reject LGBTI folk. Yet that hasn’t stopped them from existing. Instead they’ve created their own group – and a unique way of being incel.

MADONNA SAYS GIVING PHONES TO OLDER CHILDREN ‘ENDED HER RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM’

Madonna has said giving phones to her two eldest children had a hugely negative impact on her relationship with them.

Despite having given 22-year-old Lourdes and 18-year-old Rocco phones when they were in their early teens, Madonna does not plan on doing the same for her 13-year-old son David.

"I'm going to stick that one out for as long as possible, because I made a mistake when I gave my older children phones when they were 13," the Madame X star told Vogue.

"It ended my relationship with them, really."

Why do so many gay men feel lonely? A life coach gives the unfiltered truth

The gay men I work with range from their 20s to 50s. The guys in their 20s are often more attuned to coaching. They’re proactive about their growth and preempt problems by making informed choices. They can be savvy about the need for personal investment.

For older guys, certain issues come up regularly. They include learning to thrive as a gay man as they get older, finding meaningful work and creating authentic connections.

Pornhub Wants to Return Tumblr to its “Former Glory”

After Tumblr banned all adult content in December, basically signing it’s own death certificate, Pornhub has reportedly said that the website is interested in restoring the microblogging service to its former glory.

Tumblr’s announcement that it would implement a ban against pornography and any possibly suggestive content created wall to wall news. Tumblr users said that the decision would decimate communities, particularly queer ones, that were sometimes meant for pleasure, other times posed as representation for minorities who didn’t see themself in mainstream pornography, and other times served as sex educators in a world where sex education is woefully lacking. Those users were right. Communities and some 150 million users disappeared as a result of the ban.

There has been no perfect replacement for the service as of yet. And if Pornhub has its way, maybe there doesn’t need to be.

U.S. Military Sees Dramatic Rise in Sexual Assaults

There were 20,500 reported sexual assaults in the military in 2018, according to a new Pentagon report, a 38% increase in the number of assaults since 2016. The results, as ABC News reports, represent “a setback for the U.S. military’s efforts to reduce sexual assault in the military.”

These numbers come from an anonymous survey the Pentagon conducts every two years. Respondents include Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine personnel. The survey defines assault as “rape, sexual assault, forcible sodomy, aggravated sexual contact, abusive sexual contact and attempts to commit those offenses,” according to ABC News.

Over 85% of the victims reported knowing the perpetrators.

Special’s Ryan O’Connell: Stop using disabled people as ‘inspiration porn’ / Amplify by Gay Times

“It’s been really, really surreal to be honest! I feel like I always believed in what we were doing and what we made, but to have people as bowled over as they are is incredibly emotional and surreal,” he says. “The messages I’ve been getting from people who are disabled, and gay, or gay and disabled, or just even not is overwhelming and I can’t wait to unpack it with my therapist!”

Written and led on screen by Ryan, the eight excellent 15-minute episodes take inspiration from his 2015 memoir, I’m Special: And Other Lies We Tell Ourselves and features a partly-fictional version of himself. Produced by Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory, Special has gone global with fans from across the world going crazy for Ryan O’Connell. And while he’s game for it all, there’s a serious message as well: Giving young queer and disabled people the role model Ryan looked for, but never found.

Zac Efron Says 'Friends Come and Go' While Admitting He 'Learned This the Hard Way'

Zac Efron has an important — though cryptic — piece of advice to share.

“In a world where we swipe left and swipe right and you meet people, friends come and go, you really should pay attention to who you’re with,” Efron, 31, told Entertainment Tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival screening of his new film, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, Thursday night.

India's two-week ban cost TikTok 15 million users

One of China's top social media platforms saw its rapid growth braked by being temporarily shut out of India's market of 600 million internet users.

TikTok, the popular video-sharing app owned by Chinese tech giant Bytedance, missed out on adding more than 15 million users in the nearly two weeks it was blocked from downloads by the Indian government, according to a new report from analytics firm Sensor Tower.

Without the ban, April would have been TikTok's best month ever in India, the report said, adding that the app's global downloads dropped by an estimated 33% compared to the previous month.

TikTok declined to comment on the Sensor Tower report.

The app was banned in April after an Indian court ruled that it could expose children to sexual predators, pornographic content and cyberbullying. TikTok appealed the decision, saying it had cracked down on inappropriate content, and the court reversed its ruling. The government then gave Apple and Google permission to offer it for download again.

This notoriously homophobic pastor has been caught running a hellish private school

A Christian school in Harlem has been feeding students rabid homophobia for years.

The Atlah World Missionary Church is run by Pastor James Manning, who is best known for some of his appearances on The Daily Show where he claimed that Barack Obama was “Hitler” and that Starbucks puts “gay semen” in its lattes.

The church is listed as an anti-LGBTQ hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

How I started living for myself and not just for weekends on the gay scene

When you’re surrounded by people, you can still be isolated.

You might be in a busy bar, beer in hand, but it can feel like the loneliest place in the world.

When Damian and I started our podcast MenTalkHealth, we didn’t have a clear intent on what we wanted to do.

What came out of it was the older LGBTI people in Brighton came to us and said it was amazing. These were people that weren’t going out but they still wanted to listen to gay voices.

The majority of gay men I know are always busy, but they often don’t make any actual connections. Grindr and Scruff aren’t real. You might meet people going out to bars, with all its drinking and drugs, but you won’t find real connections there.

Will Young on school protests: 'Adults push insecurities onto children'

‘Adults just seem to focus on the sexual nature of LGBT and they kind of miss the point,’ British pop star Will Young has strong opinions about the people protesting LGBTI-inclusive lessons in English schools. ‘It’s really sad.’

Well, it is his job to have opinions on LGBTI matters. We started talking about the protests currently hitting headlines in the UK press while discussing his podcast Homo Sapiens. He’s the co-host with his best friend and film director Chris Sweeney.

‘I think it could be the people who are protesting it are protesting LGBT people in particular,’ Young added.

‘The problem is you get adults hoisting their insecurities onto children… But what you’re missing out on is the embracing and understanding and empathizing.

‘If you stop embracing differences in others you stop embracing it in yourself,’ he adds.

Jason Momoa Shaves His Beard And Fans Are Devastated

STOP THE PRESS! Someone had a shave. In news that is sure to send shockwaves around the world, it appears that Jason Momoa has lost his beard. The dramatic footage of the event was uploaded onto YouTube, where people predictably lost it.

Bidding farewell to the various bearded characters he has played, Momoa is shown trimming up with an electric razor while in a remote desert location. He also takes the time to show us some canned beverages which turn out to be water, because shaving in the desert is thirsty work. He delivers a salutary message about recycling and not using plastic bottles and voila, the beard is gone.

Megan Fox Isn’t Supporting the LGBT Community—She Is a Part of the Community

Megan Fox isn’t super active on social media, so when she does make posts, it’s usually for a reason—as was the case with her latest Instagram post. In the post, she called out her home state of Tennessee for presenting a “slate of hate,” the series of bills, considered by many to be anti-LGBTQ, that could soon become law. She called for voters to make an enlightened choice, and the response to that from commentators was picked up on Yahoo News.

The bills Fox is addressing allows “private adoption agencies to raise moral objections over prospective parents, meaning a gay couple potentially couldn’t adopt. Another would prevent state and local governments from taking actions against a business based on its ‘internal policies.’ So a business could potentially refuse service to someone who is gay. Other legislation is directed at transgender people, including one that requires the state to defend school districts that require students to use the bathroom of their assigned sex at birth.”

In The Future, Will Your Kids Be Able To Sue You For Oversharing Online?

Last month, Gwyneth Paltrow got herself into a bit of parenting pickle with her daughter Apple on Instagram when she shared a ski selfie of her and the teen with her 5.4 million followers. Apparently, she did not receive permission to post the photo, which irked the 14-year-old.

“Mom we have discussed this,” Apple, whose own profile is private, shared in the comments section of Paltrow’s post. “You may not post anything without my consent.”

The media jumped on the story of the “nonconsensual selfie” ? a tale that dovetailed nicely with another news story centered on a celeb oversharer that developed a few days later, when the singer Pink drew the ire of some on the internet after sharing an image of her 2-year-old son, sans diaper. In a second revised post, a strategic black scribble covered the toddler’s private parts.
