UPDATE (1:45pm): Local police have identified that assailant and say he is "fully cooperating" into their investigations. No charges have been filed yet.
Salt Lake Police want help identifying a man captured on video striking a gay man.
Sal Trejo, a gay man living in Salt Lake City, posted a short video of a man confronting him downtown on Sunday evening.
"Are you gay though?” the man asks. Trejo responds “I am.” After the man states “Oh then you are gay,” the video shows him throwing a punch toward the camera and physically knocking it away.
The Salt Lake City Tribune reports the man struck Trejo in his right hand.

Four suspects arrested in brutal attack on Texas gay couple
Four men were arrested Tuesday in connection with the brutal beating of a gay couple in downtown Austin last month. Police say an anonymous tip sent to their Crime Stoppers line helped them apprehend the suspects.
The four men allegedly beat Spencer Deehring, 23, and Tristan Perry, 22, after the couple left a gay club holding hands in downtown Austin in the early hours of Jan. 19. The suspects are accused of hurling anti-gay slurs at Deehring and Perry before attacking them. Perry suffered a broken nose after being punched in the face and kicked in the head, and Deehring was knocked unconscious. A bystander called 911, and both men were hospitalized after the attack.
Man slashed in face by homophobic stranger: cops
A man on the Upper East Side was slashed in the face by a stranger who called him a “f-g” after asking for drugs, police and sources said Tuesday.
The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.
The victim, 35, told cops he was in front of a bar on East 91st Street between First and Second avenues around 5 a.m. Monday when he was approached by a man who asked if he any drugs, authorities said.
After his phone was stolen, he was outed on social media & beaten in the street
A man in Seattle got beat up after a house guest stole his phone and posted graphic pictures of him on social media. His mother in Cameroon was also beaten and her house was destroyed.
According to the police report, he let a female friend from Cameroon stay with him and his husband. She “constantly told him he needed to change from being gay” and even offered to have sex with him in order to turn him straight.
While she was staying with him in August, she stole his phone and posted pictures of him and his husband to social media and sent them to his relatives.
She even took a photo of his marriage certificate and shared it.
Openly gay rugby player Gareth Thomas victim of homophobic attack
Gareth Thomas, the professional rugby player from Wales who came out as gay to great fanfare in 2009, was the victim of a hate crime Friday in his hometown of Cardiff when he was assaulted by a 16-year-old.
Thomas, 44 and retired since 2011, posted a message about the attack on Twitter where he is seen sporting bruises and cuts on his face.
This gay Chicago cop and his boyfriend are accused of viciously beating another gay couple
Same-sex partners Thomas Stacha and John Sherwood are suing Chicago police officer Sgt. Eric Elkins for allegedly beating them outside of the bar @mosphere on the night of Sept. 29, 2018. The attack left Stacha with broken cheekbones and a perforated trachea and Sherwood with a compound leg fracture. No charges have been formally filed against Elkins for the attack.
Stacha and Sherwood’s lawsuit has named Elkins and three other men — Elkins’ boyfriend and two of their friends — as responsible.
Gay men reportedly attacked by knife-wielding, slur-yelling couple
As they wound down a “lovely” day of snorkeling, picnicking and hiking on Wisteria Island, Keith Miller and Jeff Pellissier were preparing to head back to Key West. The recently married couple from West Hollywood, California, then saw a boat traveling toward them at high speed.
“I heard loud people in a skiff coming toward the island, and I mentioned to Keith, ‘I hope they’re not going to be landing near us, they sound noisy, they sound a bit drunk,’” Pellissier said. “We started to put things away in the boat because I thought something might be happening, so I wanted to be ready.”
