First NYC Nurse Reported to Die of COVID-19 Is a Gay Man

Kious Kelly has died after a battle with COVID-19.

The 48-year-old assistant nurse manager at Manhattan's Mount Sinai West is the first nurse reported to have died of the virus in New York City, reports The New York Times.

Kelly informed his sister, Marya Patrice Sherron, on March 18 that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus and was breathing with the help of a ventilator in the ICU. Kelly had asthma but was described as his sister as otherwise healthy. He died Tuesday.

LGBT+ helpline sees calls double as queer people fear being left with abusive families during coronavirus lockdown

An LGBT+ charity has said it has seen a huge increase in the number of calls to its helpline since the coronavirus pandemic started.

The UK-based LGBT Foundation said the number of calls received over the last week was more than double the number received in the same period last year.

Worryingly, the charity said countless LGBT+ people are seeking support as they are stuck self-isolating with abusive family and partners.

They also warned that self-isolation means many queer people have been forced back into the closet, while many more have faced severe financial issues due to the pandemic’s economic fallout.

Lesbian sexually assaulted by man who told her he would ‘fix the gay’, police say

According to Deseret News, Adam Quinn Atwood, 34, was arrested on Wednesday March 26 and police in Salt Lake City, Utah, are investigating the sexual assault as a possible hate crime.

He has been arrested on charges of object rape, forcible sodomy, kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and forcible sexual abuse.

The lesbian woman told police that Atwood was her friend’s husband, and that she visited the couple on the evening of Sunday, March 22, in Salt Lake City.

At some point during the night, her friend fell asleep and she said that Atwood began “touching and grabbing her”.

Christian group opposes coronavirus vaccine research because it used aborted fetal tissue

The Trump administration’s decision to ban scientific research that uses human fetal cells has not only had a major impact on a potential cure for HIV, now it’s hampering the search for a vaccine for COVID-19.

Evangelical Christian activists, who overwhelmingly support Donald Trump and oppose abortion, pushed the administration to ban the research. Now one group is attacking a potential vaccine for the novel coronavirus and claiming further research would be “morally” irresponsible.

“It is deplorable that anyone would want to exploit the remains of aborted babies for financial profit especially when so many people will refuse to use those products because of their deeply held religious, moral, and pro-life convictions?” Debi Vinnedge, Executive Director of Children of God for Life, asked.

In 2018, a scientist who was supposed to supply mice that have been modified with human fetal tissue for an HIV study emailed researchers that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) “has directed me to discontinue procuring fetal tissue.”

“This effectively stops all of our research to discover a cure for HIV,” he wrote.

Gay dancer trapped at home with homophobic Christian parents who think he has an ‘evil disease’

Sam, 23, told the BBC that the coronavirus pandemic meant the tour he was performing on was suddenly cancelled and he was forced to return to his family home.

The gay dancer from Birmingham said: “I saw the career I love disappear overnight, and now I’m stuck in isolation with homophobes.”

He continued: “My mum says that homosexuality is an evil disease and that the devil is making me gay. She loudly prays every day that I’ll be delivered from sin and find a wife.

“I genuinely have nowhere else to go during this mad time, so I’m just putting up with the abuse.”

Jerry Falwell Jr.'s Christian University Welcoming Students Back to Campus Amid COVID-19

Liberty University, a private evangelical Christian university in Virginia, is welcoming students back to campus this week despite a little something known as COVID-19.

"I was on a conference call with other college presidents and representatives from private colleges, and we listened to what other schools were doing," president Jerry Falwell Jr. said in a statement shared to the school's site this week. "Many were throwing their hands up and saying they would just close and others were going to extend their breaks. At that time, we were on Spring Break, so we had time to work on it."

This process of choosing to "work on it" ultimately resulted in the decision to "get [students] back as soon as we can, the ones who want to come back."

A report from the Richmond Times-Dispatch noted that between a few hundred to more than 5,000 students were projected to be living in Liberty dorms as classes resumed this week. The majority of those classes have moved to online formats. Staff and faculty, however, are said to be coming to work in their usual capacity.

Marco Rubio promises anti-LGBTQ churches they can have coronavirus stimulus money

On its website, the FFPC says that its mission is to fight “radical LGBT activists” who want to “force all Americans to approve, support, and celebrate their lifestyle.”

On the call, Rubio discussed the $1.6 trillion stimulus bill that the Senate is working on to blunt the economic fallout from the global pandemic.

A pastor asked him if it would include money for churches.

“The package that I’ve been tasked with establishing… is open to nonprofits. Basically churches and other nonprofit groups,” Rubio responded.

White supremacists encouraging their members to spread coronavirus to cops, Jews, FBI says

Racist extremist groups, including neo-Nazis and other white supremacists, are encouraging members who contract novel coronavirus disease to spread the contagion to cops and Jews, according to intelligence gathered by the FBI.

In an alert obtained by ABC News, the FBI’s New York office reports that "members of extremist groups are encouraging one another to spread the virus, if contracted, through bodily fluids and personal interactions."

Kanye West & Taylor Swift’s “Famous” Phone Call Leaks

The Kanye West/Taylor Swift feud will never die, but you will. Four years later, the full, unedited version of the infamous “Famous” phone call between the two celebs has finally leaked online.

In case you just woke up from a lengthy coma…On Kanye’s The Life Of Pablo track “Famous,” he rapped, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that bitch famous.” Taylor, understandably, was not happy about that, and said so. Then Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian claimed that Swift had actually OKed the line during a phone call beforehand and posted an edited video of the conversation in question that seemed to support her side of the story. She, and everyone, started calling Swift a snake.

Swift has always maintained that although yes, the call that launched a thousand snake emojis did indeed take place, Kanye never actually played the full song for her and never told her that he was going to refer to her as “that bitch.” And, well, the new footage that has now emerged pretty much vindicates her.

LGBT+ ER nurse begs gay men to stop going out and hooking up

An LGBT+ ER nurse has begged gay men to stop going out and bragging about it on social media and said they should protect themselves and others from coronavirus.

While many around the world are following government advice to stay at home and avoid unnecessary socialising, others are ignoring the rules.

If they catch COVID-19 they may get seriously sick themselves – even young people are ending up in hospital. But even more importantly, they will inevitably spread the coronavirus to more people who may be vulnerable and could die.

Meanwhile, others responded to the ER nurse, saying people are still hooking up on apps like Grindr and having sex parties. Because people during sex swap saliva, semen and sweat, it is high risk for passing on coronavirus.

Detroit Catholic Archdiocese Kicks Out LGBTQ Group

The Detroit chapter of DignityUSA, an LGBTQ-affirming Roman Catholic ministry, has been forbidden to hold Mass in Catholic spaces in the region, and priests within the Detroit archdiocese barred from serving the group.

Dignity chapters in other cities have received similar orders over the years, but Detroit has been one of the few exceptions, holding services in a chapel at a Catholic college (Sacred Heart Chapel at Marygrove College), with some local priests participating, according to the National Catholic Reporter.

However, in a letter dated March 9, Detroit Auxiliary Bishop Gerard Battersby wrote, “I wish to communicate through this letter that a Mass for Dignity Detroit members — one which rejects Church teaching on human sexuality — is not possible in any parish church, chapel, or diocesan facility, and is indeed forbidden everywhere in the Archdiocese of Detroit.”

Britney Spears shares powerful message to her Instagram bullies

Britney Spears (and us) have enough of you bullying her online.

Earlier this week, the legendary pop star told her trolls that she’s aware of the comments surrounding her gorgeous Instagram posts, and she never meant to cause any harm because she is what? BRITNEY SPEARS and she is an ANGEL.

She wrote: “For me I get really excited about my posts and I like to share them with you all. I’ve never owned a white bathing suit before and I simply liked the red background! Reading all of the mean comments really hurts my feelings.”

Britney rightfully told the naysayers that they shouldn’t be “saying all of these mean things to someone you don’t even know” and right now, in this terrifying coronavirus pandemic, we should “be nice to one another”. See? ANGEL.

The star continued to say that she’s “truly sorry if I offended anyone” over some horse-related posts (?).
