Brutalist, The (2024)

How to live miserably after war. Adrien Brody is a face actor that can establish a film's mood just by expression. He thought his character through and delivered a powerhouse performance. My odd fascination with sound made me hone in on his accent. Nothing peculiar with most of it. It was only when he ended with the letter T. He hit it hard when it needed to fade. The cast played beautiful notes. Guy Pierce was evolved and polished, the film held my interest, the writing was thoughtful and the direction was committing but I couldn't find a reason to care. First. You can't cry rape if you yourself have committed it. She got her husband off when he didn't want to. He cried as she was doing it. Second. That rape scene was so vague that I thought they were doing something else. Third. Why did Atilla accuse Lazlo of flirting with his wife if he pushed him into thinking it was a threesome? Fourth. Why was Lazlo's temper so short after surviving war? He'd be meek, get used and gradually transform into a raging lunatic. Fifth. The niece's silence drove me crazy. She didn't even grunt. I thought I missed a plot point. 30-May-2025

BLM leader responds to criticism over blocking Pride Toronto

Our action was in the tradition of resistance that is Pride,’ Khan said. ‘We didn’t halt progress; we made progress.

‘We achieved a commitment to our demands despite intense push-back from a primarily gay white male community. The same community did not want Black Lives Matter involved in Pride at all, even going so far as to create a group on Facebook called No BLM in Pride. Gender and sexual diversity, it seems, does not preclude racism or white privilege.

‘The majority of the leadership within Black Lives Matter – Toronto and Black Lives Matter internationally identify as queer or trans. Pride has always been for the most marginalized, and has always been for us.’

She added: ‘Since the action, I have received hate mail and death threats, primarily from gay-identifying men. I have been screamed at on the street. I have been called a “nigger” more times than I care to count. People have told me I’m no longer part of the queer community because my Blackness has no place there.

Rosie O'Donnell's Ex-Wife Michelle Rounds Dies of Apparent Suicide

Rosie O'Donnell is mourning the loss of her ex-wife, Michelle Rounds.

Her rep released the following statement to E! News on Friday: "I am saddened to hear about this terrible tragedy. Mental illness is a very serious issue affecting many families. My thoughts and prayers go out to Michelle's family, her wife and their child."

Rounds passed away this past Monday from an apparent suicide, TMZ reports. She was 46-years-old.

'I think it's gone too far'

A transgender psychologist who has helped hundreds of teens transition is concerned over the sharp rise in youths identifying as trans or non-binary, claiming the spike could be a result of peer pressure.

Dr. Erica Anderson, 71, a former clinical psychologist at the University of California San Francisco's Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic, said clinicians were failing to carry out thorough mental health evaluations before recommending hormones or surgeries to teens who might not be sure if they truly want to transition.

'Giving over to hormones on demand will result in many more cases of poor outcomes and many more disappointed kids and parents who somehow came to believe that giving kids hormones would cure their other psychological problems,' Anderson told the Times. 'It won't.'
