Our Blushing Brides (1930) Woof

Three working girls put their retirement on speed. The only way a woman could claim early retirement was to meet a man of privilege. The women were protective of each other and the men were perverse. The fate of all three women are different. By the end, the film relinquishes its madcap wit for serious drama. Joan Crawford was the big sister every friend needed. When lady Joan ignited, it was firecracker. Her character seemed to contradict herself, though. She couldn't succumb to a sexy one night stand with her dream date. Really? Dude, he had the most lavish treehouse ever. It had retracting stairs! And a view! Robert Montgomery was a pretty little thing that happenened to be the boss of the store the girls sold and modeled for. They wore new fashion to convince snobby zillas, they were attractive. Acting was pure, the funny had limits, and Lady Joan roared. 14-Aug-2024

Oppenheimer (2023) Arf

I understand the importance of the man who did something incredible for his country. A race to be the first superpower to create the best weapon science has to offer. Robert Downey had problems looking sincere being white in a black and white picture. His cranium didn't look right. Jesse Plemons and Matt Damon should play brothers and Ben Affleck must play the hated stepbrother. Daddy Josh was a beholding sight. Florence Pugh showed up to fuck and flip her acting light switch on and off, again. The wind did a better job of styling Emily's hair than the stylist. That's what beautiful hair is supposed to look like. Emily's acting switch was constant. Her story didn't expand. There was more that I wanted to know about her but I was being hypnotized by psychedelics and uniforms. You can't be suspended for three hours and not fall down throughout. There wasn't much keeping it afloat. No action and little surprises. It felt professionally cold. Really, what's an atomic bomb movie without Godzilla, destroying cities? Were moviegoers using Barbenheimer to sleep?

Saltburn (2023) Howl

Society encourages mental illness to mingle so more people can catch it. The mystery is set up beautifully, actors are undemanding and sites are divine. Is this a sequel to Killing of a Sacred Deer? The nod was a cute wink. The cast was invested in inhabiting words, statuses, empathy and star quality. Barry Keoghan was set loose as a guest of hierarchy that investigates more than he should. The cure for anorexia is having disgusting sex. The best way to maintain a friendship is to crowd them. Barry is brave with his surprises. He gave me a hardon but then I replaced him with that french dude and I came. 25-Dec-2023

Babysitter, The (1969) Woof

The wife, the babysitter, the lesbian daughter and her friends are fucking up daddy's high profile murder case. (Father is the assistant district attorney.) The parents are nearing retirement, they have a habit of filling 24 hour schedules so they don't have to look deeply at each other. His wife won't give him any because she has a 6 month old baby. It appears she didn't want another one. She hires a babysitter every night. The babysitter is a groovy chick that understands the dynamics of life. She also understood what men wanted from her. Daddy was a man whose lack of family appreciation drives him to free himself, return to earth and gain some respect. 07-Jul-2023

Porn Theatre (2004) Woof

Before social media, gay men congregated in straight porn theaters for sex and sympathy. They made money, were entertained, became excited, desired, it curbed loneliness and they got to fuck some woman's husband. Drags, trans and sissy boys roamed the theater like rats, scurrying around, scoping the cheese and avoiding the light while cheese daddy sat still with his legs wide open, waiting to be licked clean for respect and/or money. Street King Daddy shit. Sex is thrust upon us. It makes the impact real. The hunt is on. Sexual simulation stimulated when real or fake. Conversations skillfully explained where the community was at. Some of the players counted how many big dicks they sucked that night. Were they given a discount? The ticket manager was a sad hetero too old to attract a fuck. She thinks that convincing a gay crush to marry her would become an arrangement they both could enjoy. I could see it as a Broadway musical. It takes very little time to establish character purpose and that's great for the film. It provides the map to how we got here. 27-Jun-2023

Promises, Promises (1963) Woof

Two wives wake up pregnant on a cruise ship after a blacked out incident with other men. An elegant woman infantilizes herself by marrying a muscleman that delivers but has no sperm. A sex bomb is married to a nerd who can't produce but keeps trying. A doctor intervenes with drugs and mind manipulation and all we can see is that magnificent bombshell married to a dork. Jayne Mansfield was an extraordinary presence. She can't lip synch. She was way off. Milli Vanilli off. She immersed herself in a Marilyn image that was hard to shake. Marilyn took everything seriously and Mansfield's rendition of Marilyn pokes fun at her. She can dance. I think she can sing. She takes a great bubble bath. I forgot what real tits looked like. It's okay. The director kept providing proof. An outrageous drag queen did her act, was a constant and didn't seem out of place. Her act was fun. Mickey Hargitay was man art. There was an old lady with a Spanish gigolo who kept feeding her food she was allergic to so she would die. He was cute. The film plays mind tricks but it puts on a great show. 05-Mar-2023

Red Rocket (2021) Howl

It's one of the last movies on your must-see list. It approaches it's subject organically. Simon Rex, gay boy of our dreams, plays an ex-demi-god porn star of abundance who can fuck almost any troubled girl into doing things for him. Homeless and violated Rex makes it to his ex-wife, mother-in-hillbilly-law and an old life he escaped. He's constantly explaining himself and piling the lies to establish false hope. Our marbled eyed daddy churns money to subside the women's rage and win their respect back. Ex-wife pokes him once or twice for old and new times sake. Mama likes the money. Daddy meets a teenage queen who will resurrect his stamina and spark less Viagra use. That's fucked up for everybody. She is also the ticket for his porn comeback. Ex-pretty boys who become hotter daddies will get fucked and "fucked!" Simon Rex is a rocket. In need of a fix and not caring who knows it. He's lit the whole time. The cast was natural and diverse and most of all, integrated. I immediately identified. 26-Jan-2023

I Passed For White (1960) Woof

Interracial girl struggles with her identity as a negro. Her career options are minimal and love opportunities arise from worst circumstances. God made her white and she needs to embrace it. She leaves her family and hut to explore buildings, money, pretty men, clothes, food and such. She ignores her nature and becomes the body she possesses, a woman with great choices and big mistakes. A Ken Doll makes her forget where she was born and she forgets about her family. The film has anger, insight, respect and hilarity. My favorite scene happens at a fancy business event where she dances like a black girl and the white guests notice. 28-Apr-2022

Made In Paris (1966) Arf

Ann-Margret plays a girl who advances in the fashion industry because of hard work and drop dead gorgeousness. Father and son heads offer her the opportunity to become a Paris buyer when the original gets married. Father and son dispute her capabilities but acknowledge that beauty can surpass it. Louis Jordan is the Paris client with sexual arrangements to the previous buyer. There is little proof that Margret's character impresses at her job because she spends most of her time in Paris, drinking, partying, flirting, dancing, singing and clobbering boys who want to go further than a kiss. The most beautiful boy in the world, Chad Everett, the hottest tongue in France, Louis Jordan and the schlub who accepts leftovers, Richard Crenna, are the men vying for Lady Margret's baby's breath. Ann's character is written with confused sensibilities. She riles the men up then 2x4s them later. She wants to live a fantasy without all that icky stuff, like sex. The ex-buyer getting married on short notice without telling her french lover/client gets no clarification. Edie Adams was unfortunately a short lived thing disrespected in the film's best storyline. Margret dolled up in fashion chic and hit the dance floor to Count Bassie and Mongo Santamaria like a sexual beast. Edits and choreography are a mess but Lady Margret's magnitude never lets up. The fashion is creative, the only laughs are violent, the idea that a girl becomes a woman if she gets married is primitive, when men exclaim that a girl is too young to fuck, they mean right now. 26-Apr-2022

Arrangement, The (1969) Woof

Alpha daddy is acting bonkers. He's disillusioned with his wife, can't communicate with his daughter and is suicidal. He drives his car into a truck, gets a better face, detaches from life and gets a second chance to make the same mistakes. Faye Dunaway was beautifully confident as the office slut that could reduce a happily married daddy to mush and make him pay for it. Deborah Kerr exposed her soul and sexuality as a wife waiting for a man that's never going to be there. Kirk Douglas roars as a man obsessed with orgasms and baby smells. Elia Kazan opened up as a director and tried new things (good and bad). It is a detailed examination of how love, sex, beauty and insanity correlate. 13-Sep-2021

Prodigal, The (1955) Woof

A wealthy Hebrew is so tantalized by the beauty of a High Priestess that he cashes in his inheritance, dumps his fiancĂ© and says adios to his family for a trip to pagan city. He meets nice assistance on the way and creates a family to help get him closer to his goal. She may serve two gods but he'll convince her there is only one. He woos her without losing his morality. Until he does. It is a lavish retelling of a bible story that is quite brutal and timely. God vs False Idols. Do we kill the people we don't agree with or enslave them? Lana Turner hit all the right Goddess marks and seduced our lenses. Edmund Purmon muscled his way through. The action held up. After the flirtation and consummation, arise feelings of conflict (him) and love (her.) It appeared that the most expensive fuck of his life was a bummer. He becomes a slave for holding on to his spirituality and starts a white slave uprising. 14-Jun-2021

Housemaid, The (2010) Woof

Shuttered young woman accepts a job caring for a very well established family. Wife is made of plastic things and pregnant with twins. She believes her silent brute won't cheat on her because she's the perfect wife having miracle twins. "A man does not cheat on perfection." That is her motto and her curse. The eldest child is a delightful package. She is brave to say what's on her mind and sorry if it offends. A matriarch of servitude is the expert of the house, teaching the young woman how back breaking and useless it is making rich people happy. She is Mrs. Danvers, respectfully. Plotting, conniving, avenging, infiltrating and non-stop hurting to become like part of the family. Daddy is a self-absorbed god. Maid is a sexual magnet. An imperfect powerless naif to be completely his. The mother of the house is an awesome witch ready to set fire to anything that brings shame to their name. The scandal turns ingratiating maid into a hostile. The women cancel her for breaching family code... " you don't steal sperm from family gods that you are serving without asking the women first. Revenge is awesome. 10-May-2021

Claudelle Inglish (1961) Howl

Farmer's daughter is in full bloom and her scent is driving all the boys/men crazy. The most beautiful boy in the world yanks the flower from its stem, treats her real nice and gets engaged to her before his deployment. Claudelle's mother is the most disgusted wife in America. She loathes the hard work, 20 years of false promises and humiliating poverty. Claudelle's boy may be beautiful but he's a sucker farmer like daddy. Mother wanted better for her daughter. She deserved gifts, pampering and immunity. Girl doesn't care he's poor. She's in love. Daddy agrees. He is a romantic loser who thinks that memories of courting his wife are enough to survive hardship. Beautiful boy spends a year in the army, romantic letters ensue and tragic news upsets her future. The town boys/men pounce. She negates then accepts. Her scent becomes toxic. Every present a reminder of how far she went. Her room was stacked. Dad humiliates himself by allowing his boss to discuss marriage to his daughter without much confrontation. Mother claimed the boss was the reason they were poor but quickly changes her mind when he comes a courting. I'm assuming that Claudelle slept with every father and son in town except for her dad and the Reverend. My mouth was agape at every sharp turn. Claudelle did as mother said and used sex to liberate herself of men because men are victims of promises they can't keep. 20-Apr-2021

Owl And The Pussycat, The (1970) Howl

Lady Barbra plays a hooker with aspirations. George Segal is the bookish wannabe writer whose life she upends. He rats on her for soliciting, she gets evicted and moves in. He inherits a lot of sexual frustration and mental exasperation. Nobody gay bashes like Streisand. (She can bash me all she wants as long as I win her over with my charming personality. That's how you make friends.) She's representing a full fledged character that served the writer well. Why not. If everybody were the same we'd all be Trump. Segal and Streisand are brilliantly funny, introspective, sexy, beautiful and artistic. The words are grand, it flows, we care and it means something. There is a point in your life where you realize that you will never amount to more than what you are. You can at least try to enjoy it with someone in the same boat. 25-Mar-2021

Semi-Tough (1977) Howl

A childhood trio of friends deepen their bond in adulthood. Two ridiculous chunks of meat and a canned tuna. Delicious. The dialogue smacks, cuts, is dry and intelligent. I've never laughed so hard at subtlety. Burt, Jill and Kris were on full star watt. They were beautiful, crazy, athletic, sexy, fucked up, funny and sweet. 28-Feb-2021
