WA teen accused of child exploitation ring links, charged with ‘abhorrent’ sex child abuse
A WA teenager has been charged with more than 200 child sex offences for allegedly abusing boys as young as three.
The abuse, which police have described as abhorrent, allegedly started when the 19-year-old Gosnells man was just a boy himself, aged 14.
Police will allege the man is linked to a national online child exploitation network and sexually assaulted five boys, who were aged between three and 11 and known to him through family and friends, between 2014 and 2020.

Jonathan Schmitz Killed A Man For Revealing A Crush On Him On TV — Where Is He Now?
Michigan man Jonathan Schmitz, then 24, was invited onto “The Jenny Jones Show” in 1995. "The Jenny Jones Show" began in 1991 as a traditional talk show where serious topics were discussed, but by 1993 it transformed into something more like "Maury" and "The Jerry Springer Show." The show's segments began ranging from paternity tests to out-of-control teens to secret crush reveals.
During the taping of this particular episode, which was entitled “Same Sex Secret Crushes,” Schmitz's acquaintance Scott Amedure, 32, revealed his crush on him while also describing details of his sexual fantasies about him. While Schmitz appeared to be a good sport about it ?— he was mostly smiling and laughing ?— he was deeply humiliated. At points, he covered his face with his hands; he also turned to Amedure and the female friend who brought him on the show and said, “You lied to me.” His father had made multiple homophobic statements in the past and Schmitz seemingly feared being perceived as gay, as the docuseries points out.

Home Secretary Priti Patel admits 7% increase in knife crime is 'appalling' and says London Mayor Sadiq Khan 'should be doing more'
Priti Patel yesterday conceded the latest rise in knife crime was 'appalling' - as she vowed a tough new approach.
In a frank admission, the Home Secretary said that an overall fall in recorded crime could not mask the misery caused by a sharp rise in knife offences, which are at a record high.
Official figures released last month showed that knife crimes in England and Wales rose by 7 per cent last year to 45,627.
The figure represents a 49 per cent rise on 2011, when comparable records began.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Miss Patel said the figures were 'terrible' but vowed a tough new approach which would mean thugs caught with a knife 'going down'.

An Indian woman was allegedly gang raped in a school in the desert state of Rajasthan where she had been quarantined for a night by the police amid the nationwide coronavirus lockdown, a police official said on Sunday.
The incident occurred last week when the victim, a daily wage earner, sought shelter at a police station after walking alone for miles and losing the way to her native village.

US landlords are targeting vulnerable tenants to solicit sex in exchange for rent during coronavirus crisis, advocates say
Some landlords are taking advantage of the coronavirus outbreak, soliciting sexual favors in lieu of rent payments from economically vulnerable tenants, according to advocates.
Khara Jabola-Carolus, executive director of the Hawaii State Commission on the Status of Women, said her office has received more reports of landlords sexually harassing their tenants in the last two weeks than it had in the two years since she started working there.
This includes cases of landlords offering to move in with tenants and sending sexually explicit photos to them after they communicated concerns about paying April rent.

Former CBS Reporter Lara Logan Revisits Terrifying 2011 Rape by Mob in Egypt Amidst $25 Million Lawsuit
Lara Logan is recounting her horrific 2011 rape in Egypt while she was covering the resignation of then-president Hosni Mubarak.
Logan, 49, opened up about the ordeal in an interview with Newsweek on Monday, telling the outlet that she wants to tell her story again as part of a bigger discussion about the media.
“You can’t have a #MeToo movement standing up for women and righting the wrongs of the past but say nothing about a female journalist who was gang-raped and almost died,” she said.
Logan, who was in Cairo at the time working as a journalist for CBS News, said that at first, the crowd she was in seemed “pro-American.”
“Suddenly, our translator turned to me with a look of sheer terror and said, ‘Run, run!’ I felt people grabbing between my legs,” she recalled. “I was quite stunned.”

Child Sex Abuse Reports Spike As Country Shelters In Place, Advocates Say
For most Americans, sheltering in place is a sensible act of self-protection amid the coronavirus pandemic. But home can be a dangerous place for some ? like children in abusive situations.
Children face a heightened risk for sexual abuse during this time, child advocates told HuffPost. Scott Berkowitz, president of the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network, said RAINN has seen an uptick in minors reporting sexual violence in March, the month most shelter-in-place orders were implemented across the country.
“Last month, for the first time ever, a majority of RAINN’s sexual abuse hotline users were minors,” he told HuffPost.
Just over half of the people who called RAINN’s hotline last month who identified their age were under 18. Of those, 67% identified their perpetrator as a family member and, within that group, 79% said they were living with that perpetrator. RAINN’s victim service programs help on average about 25,000 people every month.
Berkowitz said the reason for the increased calls from minors could be that children can’t access the safety net of other adults they usually see outside the home.
