Diocese removed Iowa priest after girl reported touching
A longtime Roman Catholic priest in Iowa has been removed from the ministry indefinitely after a girl complained a year ago that he improperly touched her, a diocese has confirmed.
The fourth-grader alleged that the Rev. Brian Danner of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt rubbed the top of her leg while taking her confession, the Diocese of Sioux City told The Associated Press. The girl's parents were "extremely upset" and complained to church officials, recalled diocese lawyer Michael Ellwanger.
The diocese reported the incident to the county attorney last December and has revoked Danner's ability to function as a priest indefinitely. Its review found that Danner's actions were inappropriate but didn't constitute sexual abuse, Ellwanger said.

Facebook said the post was taken down as soon as the company learned of it, but that wasn't until after the girl was married.
According to children's rights organization Plan International, the girl was bid on by five men, some of whom were reportedly high-ranking South Sudanese government officials.

Woman Held Captive for 10 Years in 'Basement of Horrors' Speaks Out: 'I Thought I Was Going to Die There'
A Pennsylvania woman who was held captive for 10 years in what has reportedly been described as a “basement of horrors” is sharing her story seven years after she was rescued.
“I thought I was going to die there,” Tamara Breeden told local TV station WCAU in an interview this week of her time imprisoned in the basement of a Philadelphia home where she and several other developmentally disabled adults were kept.
The group was eventually saved in 2011 and their captor, Linda Weston, along with three co-conspirators were sent to prison.
Breeden, now 36, told WCAU that in addition to being physically abused and kept in torturous conditions — without light, a bed or a bathroom — she and the others were forced to urinate in a bucket, wear clothes pulled from the trash and denied showers.

The former Charmed actress became a figurehead for the MeToo movement, which fights against sexual abuse and assault, after becoming one of the most high profile accusers of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein last year.
Asked by GSN at the event: ‘Would you like to see the the MeToo movement reverberate deeper among the LGBTI community and specifically gay men?’ Rose gave a detailed and thoughtful response.

Now, Cummings has filed a notice of claim, filed in anticipation of a lawsuit, claiming that she is the real victim here of reverse discrimination, defamation, negligence and a litany of other claims.

Restaurant manager beat black employee for years and forced him to work without pay
For years, John Christopher Smith suffered in silence as his manager at a South Carolina restaurant physically abused him and forced him to work over 100 hours a week without pay, federal officials say.
Bobby Paul Edwards, 53, used violence, threats and intimidation on the African-American employee who worked at the eatery in Conway, according to the US Justice Department. It said Edwards hurled racial epithets at him, beat him with a belt, and hit him with pots and pans.
This week, Edwards pleaded guilty to one count of forced labor in the incidents, which allegedly happened when he managed the restaurant between 2009 and 2014.
Authorities said Smith had intellectual disabilities, and was afraid of losing his job. At times, Edwards, who's white, would burn Smith's bare neck with hot tongs to make him work faster, federal authorities said. Other times, he'd allegedly beat him with a belt and punch him with his fists.
