Rihanna Wearing a Ganesh Necklace While Topless Is Cultural and Religious Appropriation at Its Peak

I've been a Rihanna stan for years. In fact, whenever there's news about the singer, my POPSUGAR colleagues ping me, because they know how much I love her. I felt like I was on cloud nine when I got to see her Savage x Fenty show live, which is what makes this next sentence even harder to say. I'm incredibly disappointed in Rihanna for her cultural and religious appropriation. In a recent Instagram post, she wears a necklace of Hindu god Ganesh while posing topless in a pair of silk lilac boxers. While the singer is clearly promoting her new Savage x Fenty line, which just got $115 million in funding, I'm baffled by what made her think it's OK to appropriate another culture.

KFC Mixes Chicken and Pixels With Its New Gaming PC

KFC, the famous fried chicken subsidiary of Yum! Brands (NYSE:YUM) and runner-up for world's biggest restaurant chain by sales, is apparently moving ahead with its plan to release the KFConsole, a high-powered gaming computer that also keeps chicken warm. Made to resemble a fried chicken bucket in general outline, the PC features a high-performance gaming setup that supports virtual reality (VR) and 4K TV games, according to IGN and other sources.

The PC is also designed to keep KFC munchies close at hand. The device features a drawer containing a tray where pieces of chicken can be placed to keep them warm while you're gaming, with Cooler Master stating this "Chicken Chamber" will use the computer's "natural heat and airflow system," enabling you to "focus on your gameplay and enjoy hot, crispy chicken between rounds."

A Mom Upset Her Friend After She Made A Rainbow Blanket For Her Baby

In a viral post on the popular sub-Reddit forum "Am I The A**hole," one mom shared that she made rainbow blanket for her baby, but it stirred up a bit of controversy with her friend. The mom was confused by the whole encounter, as was pretty much everyone else who commented on the post.

According to the mom, one of her friends was interested in purchasing one of her blankets, but when the pregnant mom sent a photo of the blanket she was creating for her own baby, the friend took offense. Why? Because she hadn't had a miscarriage, apparently. "I told her it was for my baby and she asked whether I’d had a secret miscarriage before this baby. When I told her no, she went off on me saying it was very disrespectful to make myself a rainbow blanket when I hadn’t suffered a miscarriage and therefore I wasn’t having a rainbow baby," the mom shared on Reddit.

Andrew Christian Uses Model of Color to Advertise 'Slave' Harness

The underwear company offers both a harness and an underwear brief emblazoned with the word "slave" and uses a POC to model them.

UPDATE: Jeff White, the cofounder of Andrew Christian, told The Advocate that the images of the model will "immediately" be replaced in response to the complaint. White's full statement:

As you accurately noted in your article our "Master" and "Slave" harnesses and underwear only reference the "Master" and "Slave" terminology of the BDSM culture and has nothing to do with anything else. We sincerely apologize if anyone finds the image of the model offensive and we will replace it immediately.

Hot doctor sick of being told she’s ‘too pretty to work in medical field’

Dr. Medina Culver is proof that you’re never too sexy to save lives. But her detractors don’t always see it that way.

When the now-successful family practice doctor was interviewed for a place at medical school at the start of her career, the interviewer bluntly asked her whether she had cheated on her Medical College Admission Test.

“Usually we don’t see women with your hair color score this well,” he pronounced.

The then-22-year-old blonde was shocked, but she held her head high and replied: “No, I didn’t cheat — I worked very hard to achieve that score.”

Nine years on, successfully employed as the only female partner in a Las Vegas family health practice, the doctor is still being undermined because of her gorgeous looks and figure.

“I’ve been told countless times that I am too pretty to work in the medical field,” Culver, 31, told The Post. “People say I should be doing something else with my life, like modeling or acting. It’s sexist, hurtful and shows the double standard regarding the appearance of men and women.”

Appalled at being hounded for being both beautiful and brainy, she has turned to social media to defend herself and spread the word that the two qualities are not mutually exclusive.

Kraft Takes Down 'Send Noods' Campaign Following Social Media Backlash

Kraft has removed social media posts after receiving some backlash for their most recent online campaign.

Earlier this month, the food conglomerate revealed a new #SendNoods promotional campaign, which called on fans of their classic mac and cheese to send a free box — or a coupon to redeem one — to loved ones amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Shortly after it was first announced, however, the campaign was met with intense criticism from some social media users, who said the company "sexualized mac 'n' cheese," according to BuzzFeed News.

Burger King Sucks Face With Ronald McDonald in New Ad Campaign

Burger King celebrated Helsinki Pride in Finland with a most unusual advertising campaign that featured their royal mascot kissing Ronald McDonald.

The images, which appeared in public spaces throughout Finland, were part of September's Helsinki Pride Celebration, MediaPost reports. The image shows the famous icons making out — with only the back of Ronald McDonald's head visible — and the accompanying message: "Love Conquers All."

KFC drops Finger Lickin' Good slogan as 'doesn't quite fit' in age of Covid-19

KFC has admitted its famous Finger Lickin’ Good slogan is not quite right for the era of face masks and official hand-washing advice, as it launches a new advertising campaign with a change of focus.

The fast food chain has acknowledged it will need to move on, at least temporarily, from the tagline it has used on and off for more than six decades, releasing new images of advertising posters and packaging with the words blurred and pixellated.

Sign at Michigan shop warns masked customers of armed employees. 'Lighten up,' owner says.

A sign at the entrance of a metal-cutting shop in Kentwood, a suburb of Grand Rapids, asks customers to “remove your mask or raise both hands high” to avoid being mistaken as a robber.

The sign in front of Tubergen Cutting Tools Inc. reads “In responce [sic] to Gretch, attention: This facility is protected by armed employees for your safety! Remove your mask or raise both hands high and keep um up! Don’t be mistaken as a robber! Thank you, management. Open carry still welcome.”

Young Americans Are Partying Hard and Spreading Covid-19 Quickly

Covid-19 is increasingly a disease of the young, with the message to stay home for the sake of older loved ones wearing off as the pandemic wears on.

The dropping age of the infected is becoming one of the most pressing problems for local officials, who continued Wednesday to set curfews and close places where the young gather. U.S. health experts say that they are more likely to be active and asymptomatic, providing a vast redoubt for the coronavirus that has killed almost 130,000 Americans.

In Arizona, half of all positive cases are people from the ages of 20 to 44, according to state data. The median age in Florida is 37, down from 65 in March. In Texas’s Hays County, people in their 20s make up 50% of the victims.

Updated: How Do Black People Spend Their Money? (The Racial Wealth Gap)

How black people spend their money has been a hotly debated topic not only on this site, but in our office, at social events and in beauty and barber shops across America. This article has been the most read and commented article for 9 years running. Once I learned that this was the most popular and discussed article on the website, I decided to do some research and share this information with others.

I predict that even after reading this article there a significant number of Black people who will NOT change their habits and work toward changing their situation. Over time, when things go unchallenged, they seem normal. After centuries of slavery, black people must realize that they need to work toward building generational wealth and learn to invest their money and establish Trust funds for their wealth that can be passed down to future generations.

Magnum slammed for ad comparing eating ice cream to gay men being jailed

Magnum are facing criticism over their latest advert campaign.

The popular ice cream brand have received backlash after a new advert, which played on music streaming service Spotify in the UK, compared the “guilty pleasure” of eating an ice cream to gay people being imprisoned in countries with anti-LGBTQ laws.

“A hug for my boyfriend. That’s my guilty pleasure. Because in my country, just a simple hug with the man I love could send me to prison for more than 10 years,” says the voiceover in the controversial advert.

Popeyes Launches Fried Chicken Sandwich by Teaming Up With Restaurant That Ripped Them Off

Two years ago, a small Southern-themed restaurant in Long Beach, California became a national media fixation when the owner got busted for reheating Popeyes fried chicken tenders and serving them to customers as part of a “chicken and waffles” special without disclosing the origin of that first ingredient. And now, in a bizarre but marketing-savvy twist, Popeyes is teaming up with the #popeyesgate restaurant — Sweet Dixie Kitchen — to help launch a new product.
