Chaos at Virginia Legislature After Pastor Recites Antigay Prayer
A minister’s prayer condemning same-sex marriage and abortion caused some members of the Virginia House of Delegates to walk out Tuesday and the speaker of the House to slam her gavel and cut him off.
He told House members that they risked God’s wrath for not following the Bible. He denounced abortion, saying, “All life is precious and worthy of a chance to be born.”
“And why are there so many abortion clinics near African-American communities?” he added. “This is planned urban genocide, and you can change this.”
“Marriage is to join a biological male and a biological female in holy matrimony, not to provoke the Almighty God,” he said. “Without laws to protect traditional marriage, Virginia will be reduced to increased fatherless children and welfare victims and homelessness, a tax burden to us all.”
White supremacist, anti-immigrant posters pop up in Queens
As New York City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer headed out for a jog in Queens last Sunday, something out of the ordinary quickly caught his eye: an anti-immigrant poster geared toward anyone who might be sympathetic to white nationalist messaging.
The text wasn’t subtle. Addressed to “all citizens of the United States of America,” it read: “It is your civic duty to report any and all illegal aliens to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). They have broken the law.” There, underneath the text, was a phone number for ICE. “Have a nice day,” the poster closed.
Manager of NYC’s ‘Monster’ Gay Bar Resigns in Wake of Racist Text Uproar
Yesterday we reported that Honey Davenport, a drag queen who performs at the Monster gay bar, an iconic nightclub in NYC’s Greenwich Village, walked out on Saturday night after revealing that she had seen a text exchange in which the bar manager Italo Lopez had told DJ/producer Mitch Ferrino to revise flyers he had produced for the club’s party “Manster” because it looked like they were promoting “black night” and that would be bad for business.

Trump administration halts visas for unmarried same-sex partners of foreign diplomats
The Trump administration will no longer provide visas for same-sex domestic partners of foreign diplomats and U.N. officials serving in the U.S., a policy that went into effect Oct. 1.
Only if a same-sex couple is married will the spouse be eligible for a visa, but that could prove problematic for some, as the majority of the world’s countries do not recognize same-sex marriages.
Many women line up in support of Kavanaugh
As the Senate is divided on President Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick, so too are women across the country.
Female voices have echoed throughout the U.S. Senate this week demanding male senators justify their support for Brett Kavanaugh's U.S. Supreme Court nomination despite an allegation of high school sexual assault.
But other women have spent hours calling Senate offices in support of Kavanaugh, condemning what they saw as an anti-Republican ploy that's damaged not only Kavanaugh's reputation and livelihood but also his accuser's.

Professor calls for Christian university president to resign for allowing LGBT relationships
Azusa Pacific University, a Christian institution, has lifted its ban on LGBT relationships in its code of conduct. But the decision comes after years of previous resistance, and the school is now facing pushback over the change — particularly from one professor who says it’s now time for APU’s president to go.
Anti-LGBTI Christian author claims all oral sex is 'homosexual'
A Christian author of anti-LGBTI books has claimed that oral sex is the ‘practice of homosexuals’.
Linda Harvey, writer behind books like Maybe He’s Not Gay, has launched a frankly bizarre rant against sex education.
During an article for right-wing website BarbWire denouncing teaching teenagers about ‘pleasure’ during sex ed, the writer goes into an odd tangent about oral sex.
Harvey writes: ‘And let’s not forget the deadly contribution of “LGBTQ” advocates who demand “inclusive” sex ed – ie, lessons that outline in detail how kids can engage in anal and oral sex, the sex practices of homosexuals.’
For people with opposite sex partners: no, this isn’t an excuse to skip foreplay.

Azealia Banks takes aim at Troye Sivan in series of Tweets
If you’re not with Azealia Banks 100%, you may as well be against her.
And hey, that’s her prerogative.
She doesn’t make it easy to back her all the time — we’ve covered her many beefs time and time again.
Now Australian pop star Troye Sivan finds himself fresh at the center of her displeasure yet again, after giving a wishy-washy answer to Andy Cohen about what he’d say to her if the two happened to be riding an elevator together.
To back it up, Sivan was asked in January if there are any rappers he’d be interested in working with.
“I mean, I was a huge Azealia Banks fan. That all just kind of like went south a little bit. It’s just one of those annoying things where you just want to support [her] so bad, and it just doesn’t work out like that.”

Trump’s God-Talk Is Turning America Off Religion
Perhaps the only subject Donald Trump likes to talk about as much as the almighty self is, well, Almighty God.
Need proof? At a White House “state-like dinner” for evangelical leaders in late August, President Trump spoke about “the glory of God” and the “power of prayer,” while promising that he would ensure America would “forever proudly remain one nation under God.”
Considering these anecdotes, one might assume that Trump using the presidential mega-microphone to speak about faith might help revive God-talk among the masses. But according to a new poll I commissioned with Barna Group, a prominent social research firm focused on religion and public life, it may be hurting the Christian cause rather than helping.

A judge shut down a frivolous ‘Christian flag’ lawsuit & gave the plaintiffs hell
A federal judge denied a Christian conservative organization’s request for an injunction to fly the Christian flag at Boston’s city hall.
In front of City Hall in Boston, there are three flagpoles. One has the American flag, another flies the Massachusetts flag, and the third usually has the Boston flag on it but sometimes flies a flag associated with an event in the city.
It’s the third flagpole that really bothers Christian conservatives. That pole sometimes flies flags that they don’t like, like the flags of “Communist China and Cuba” (yes, their lawsuit really refers to China and Cuba in that way).

Ohio politician arrested on 26 sex charges involving teenagers
A long-serving Ohio politician has been arrested on 26 felony charges involving sexual misconduct with teenagers. His lawyers say it’s an attack because of his identity as a gay man.
Phillip Garcia, 63, is the councilman for Ward 2 in Conneaut. He is also a member of the Parks and Recreation committee, Economic Development Committee, and Public Service Department/Cemeteries committee.
Authorities indicted Garcia on Tuesday (28 August). They took him to Ashtabula County Jail, where he is being held on the charges. He was being investigated for several months prior to his arrest.
The charges include five counts of rape, four counts of corruption of a minor, and two counts of sexual conduct with a minor. The other 15 are counts of compelling prostitution.

Gay Trump supporter who brandished knife at Kathy Griffin show doesn’t feel he did anything wrong
Carl Pacheco says he was just hoping to have a good time when he showed up to Kathy Griffin’s recent show in Houston in a bright red “Make American Great Again” hat, a t-shirt with pictures of Trump’s face on it, and carrying a knife.
Richard Nunez and his wife, Michele, also attended the show. Afterwards, they got into a heated altercation with Pacheco in the parking lot, OutSmart reports.
“We were one of the last few to exit the hall,” Richard Nunez explains, “and made a comment to ourselves like ‘Whaaat is he wearing?’ and ‘Is that for real?’ and he responded with a comment similar to ‘Do you want a political debate?’”
“As my wife entered the vehicle, she closed the passenger door and rolled down her window,” Nunez continued. “She made a derogatory statement to the Trump supporter and he made another derogatory statement right back.”
In a video that was uploaded (and since deleted) from YouTube, Michele Nunez can be heard saying, “Hey, asshole, f*ck Trump!” To which Pacheco responds, “F*ck you, f*cking c*nt!”
