Time 100's LGBTQ Honorees Include Lady Gaga, Ryan Murphy, Indya Moore

Ryan Murphy — the gay producer of FX's Pose, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, and more — is among those in the "titans" category. His entry was written by Jessica Lange, whose acting career experienced a revival in part due to Murphy casting her in AHS.

"He is a born storyteller, and, like the best of them, he is constantly pushing the limits. I have often marveled at his uncanny ability at capturing the zeitgeist," Lange wrote.

"Ryan is an artist of unlimited creative power and talent. But, more importantly, he has a great heart and is a dear and fiercely loyal friend. My life is better for knowing him."

20 Popular Destinations That Are Unapologetically Anti-Gay

In many of the places on this list, LGBT rights improve every year. But, recognition rarely equals acceptance. In some countries, same-sex marriages are recognized and celebrated. But, toleration and acceptance of the LGBT community is far from universal. Being queer is illegal in nearly 80 countries and punishable by death, including some very popular travel destinations.

Although some of these countries welcome tourists, that doesn’t mean travelers are safe to be themselves. It’s crucial that gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer travelers use extreme caution while traveling abroad.

I'm Changing the Largely Male, Straight Tattoo Industry with a Simple List

got my first tattoo when I was 12. I knew nothing about tattooing—I just pierced myself with the needle and ink. There’s something about the aesthetic that I love. I’m 31 now and I have no idea how many I have. Maybe more than a hundred? They’ve all just become one. I’m running out of space.

I’m a queer gay guy and old-school tattoo studios are quite a daunting place. I’ve always had a weird relationship with any street tattoo or piercing places. They feel very commercial, very straight. When I started managing studios almost ten years ago in my first job, I worked for a female piercer—just us two—and it was great because the studio felt safe. When I worked in other places I didn’t feel as secure, so I decided to distance myself for a few years. I came back to it when an amazing team of artists asked me to work for them.

The Most Popular Easter Candy in Every State, According to RetailMeNot

Each spring, supermarket candy aisles are flooded with sweet treats to fill our Easter baskets—especially with marshmallow Peeps, a holiday staple. RetailMeNot decided to investigate just how many people prefer Peeps to other Easter candy by asking over 1,000 Americans what their favorite Easter candy is—as it turns out, the marshmallow chicks and bunnies were pretty soundly beat. Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs ultimately came out on top, with 32 percent of the survey respondents preferring them; Cadbury Eggs also did pretty well, with 17 percent. That was followed by jelly beans, at 16 percent, and then chocolate bunnies, which came in at a shocking 10 percent. (Is everything we know a lie?) Finally, Peeps rolled in at just six percent, and apparently, 73 percent of the respondents said they don't like Peeps at all. RetailMeNot also pulled results to find the most popular Easter candy in every state, and again, Reese’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Eggs reign supreme—Tennessee and Virginia, however, are very firmly in camp Peeps.

Michael Jackson's Thriller Is No Longer the Best-Selling Album of All Time. Here's the New #1

The Eagles’ greatest hits album has moonwalked past Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to become history’s best-selling album of all-time in the U.S.

The Recording Industry Association of America told The Associated Press on Monday that the Eagles’ album — “Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975” — is now certified 38x platinum, which means sales and streams of the album have reached 38 million copies.

The Ultimate A-to-Z Encyclopedia of LGBTQ Musicians and Bands

For even the most seasoned music lovers and sound hounds, discovering LGBTQ musicians can prove daunting.

Only a handful identify as “LGBTQ musicians” themselves, as most identify simply as musicians, preferring not to box themselves into a set sound, lyrical set or target demographic. For the same reason, it’s rare to find a comprehensive listing of LGBTQ musicians on online stores or streaming apps; all artists, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, are typically grouped by genre.

But with a little research and a lot of listening, we’ve created this living encyclopedia of LGBTQ musicians that can be used to discover new queer artists and give music-lovers an even deeper appreciation for those you already loved.
