Mario Lopez apologizes for 'ignorant' comments about parenting and gender identity
TV personality Mario Lopez has apologized for comments made during a recent podcast appearance in which he said it was "dangerous" for parents to allow their children to pick their gender identities at young ages.
"The comments I made were ignorant and insensitive, and I now have a deeper understanding of how hurtful they were," Lopez said in a statement to CNN. "I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself. Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful."
The former "Saved By the Bell" star made the remarks last month on a podcast hosted by conservative personality Candace Owens.
In the discussion, Owens brings up what she calls one of the "weird trends" of Hollywood parents allowing their children to pick their gender identity.
We need to stop telling people how to feel. We all have a right to an opinion and forcing ridiculous notions down sober people's throats isn't going to fix your children. We are supposed to guide our children into making the best decision not agree with it because it makes parenting easier. Geez, maybe he feels like a girl because Uncle Harry has been secretly diddling him. I wanted to be many things. Zero is the total that bled into my life. The more society makes people apologize for an opinion the more they will hurt us. This is all going to look ridiculous in the future when it blows in our faces. 31-Jul-2019

A city council candidate in St. Petersburg, Fla., says LGBTQ Pride hurts the city’s black population, and vows to stop “their agenda” should he win.
Chico Cromartie, who made these comments, is running for the municipal office on the platform that being gay is a choice, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

These Christian conservatives have a petition to stop Disney’s ‘LGBT indoctrination’
A conservative Christian organization has started a petition to get Disney to “stop LGBT indoctrination around the world.”
CitizenGO USA is a Michigan-based organization that wants to “defend and promote life, family, and liberty.” National Organization for Marriage (NOM) president and prominent anti-LGBTQ activist Brian Brown sits on their board.
Their latest action is attacking Disney for being too pro-LGBTQ, and they’re trying to get either half a million or a million signatures (the site isn’t very clear). Their main complaint appears to be the “Magical Pride” held at Disneyland Paris last month.
“Disney is flaunting its new partnership with the ‘LGBT’ community,” their website states.

Anti-LGBTQ Group Protests at SCOTUS, Vows to End Marriage Equality
An anti-LGBTQ hate group took to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday to call for marriage equality to be overturned and promised to challenge the Equality Act in court.
At a rally featuring supposed ex-gay and ex-trans speakers, Americans for Truth About Homosexuality founder Peter LaBarbera stood in front of a rainbow-colored sign calling for justices to “Repeal Obergefell.”
“Four years ago today, the Supreme Court of the United States imposed homosexual so-called ‘marriage’ on the nation,” LaBarbera said. “The Supreme Court did something that it did not have the authority to do, which is to redefine marriage. This tragic ruling is immoral, unconstitutional, and imperious.”
Republican Congressman Wants to Defund PBS Over Gay Rat Wedding
Just when you thought gay ratgate was over, another right winger is still pressed about a children’s television show.
Republican congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado is calling on the government to defund PBS following a May episode of beloved children’s show Arthur in which the title character’s teacher, Mr. Ratburn, married another man in a beautiful ceremony. Lamborn, in a column for The Daily Signal, wrote that “PBS writers deemed it appropriate to preach their liberal views on same-sex marriage to America’s young children.” Man, I’ve got to start reading this website!
“Taxpayers now know with complete certainty that the goal of the PBS cartoon is to impart social liberalism to children,” Lamborn continued. “Enough is enough. It is time to stop sending our hard-earned tax money to support programming that is objectionable to many Americans.”

Porn deemed a public health crisis by Arizona politicians
Some legislators gave pornography a new title: public health crisis.
The Arizona State Senate voted Monday to declare pornography a public health crisis, but beyond stating such on their resolution, no further action is set to be taken.
The bill states that "pornography perpetuates a sexually toxic environment that damages all areas of our society," proceeding to list that "potential detrimental effects on pornography users include toxic sexual behaviors, emotional, mental and medical illnesses and difficulty forming or maintaining intimate relationships."

Protesting drag queens has become the new religious right merit badge
Another day, another religious right protest at a public library.
Evangelical Christians have a new target for their inane protests – drag queens. The perpetually perturbed are up in arms that drag queens are reading stories to children in public libraries.
All over the country, the radical right is showing up to terrify children and parents in the name of God. While the religious zealots would protest outside of abortion providers to shame and scare women who are at their most vulnerable, now they’re focused on being child abusers.
Evangelicals are boycotting these stores for Christmas to celebrate Jesus’ birth
Ever year the religious right boycotts various companies for Christmas because Jesus wouldn’t shop at a store that doesn’t advertise Christmas sales or something.
Evangelicals have used multiple reasons for their nonsense. Starbucks holiday cup didn’t specifically say “Christmas.” Target lets transgender people use the restroom. J. Crew doesn’t use nativity scene clipart to sell sweaters.
Now two anti-LGBTQ hate groups have issued their yearly “naughty or nice” list (despite Santa’s absence from the Bible) and the reasons they’ve targeted some companies is just as laughable.

Bette Midler had a Roseanne Barr moment on Twitter last night. Apologies have started.
Bette Midler has apologized for a tweet that was racially insensitive. The iconic singer, impassioned by the Supreme Court nomination of accused sexual abuser Brett Kavanaugh, sent a now-deleted tweet decrying the plight of women worldwide that included a racial slur.
“Women, are the n-word of the world,” she sent. “Raped, beaten, enslaved, married off, worked like dumb animals; denied education and inheritance; enduring the pain and danger of childbirth and life IN SILENCE for THOUSANDS of years They are the most disrespected creatures on earth.”
That's what happens when you keep the word around. School yourselves. 05-Oct-2018
Anti-LGBTQ Groups Sue Louisiana Governor to Stop Drag Queen Story Hour
In an attempt to stop a drag queen story hour event at Lafayette Public Library in Louisiana, two antigay Christian groups have filed suit against the town of Lafayette, the governor of Louisiana, and the library.
Chris Sevier, who with others filed suit on behalf of Warriors for Christ and Special Forces of Liberty, had previously sued five states claiming he had married his computer in New Mexico and they should recognize the union, reports local TV station KATC. Those suits were a stunt to challenge marriage equality. He has filed several other bizarre, unsuccessful suits -- against Apple, claiming that an erroneous URL caused him to develop a pornography addiction, and against members of Congress who displayed Pride flags.

A judge shut down a frivolous ‘Christian flag’ lawsuit & gave the plaintiffs hell
A federal judge denied a Christian conservative organization’s request for an injunction to fly the Christian flag at Boston’s city hall.
In front of City Hall in Boston, there are three flagpoles. One has the American flag, another flies the Massachusetts flag, and the third usually has the Boston flag on it but sometimes flies a flag associated with an event in the city.
It’s the third flagpole that really bothers Christian conservatives. That pole sometimes flies flags that they don’t like, like the flags of “Communist China and Cuba” (yes, their lawsuit really refers to China and Cuba in that way).

Donald Trump has rattled the cages of his already enraged supporters by mercilessly using the murder of a 20-year-old Iowa college student by a Mexican national to defend his racism. Trump has spat on the body of Mollie Tibbets to further raise his xenophobic platform, tout his unnecessary southern border wall, and as a wedge issue in the coming midterm elections.
Though he blames Democrats for any and all problems – including Tibbets’ death – statistics show that undocumented immigrants commit far fewer violent crimes than native-born U.S. citizens.
