As a Gay Man, I’ll Never Be Normal

I have pride. I no longer crave the comforts of normalcy because so much joy and insight has come on the other side of fear and being an outlier, even an outcast. I have divorced my comforts from those of people around me. I know now that our culture’s fringe is also its framework. That is the power of queerness. Normalization is, frankly, anti-queer. No amount of respectability politics can change that. Being normal is a lie people tell themselves to cover up the reality that they are merely common.

Trans person faces more than 50 child sex abuse felonies following arrest at daycare

Dion Blake Keaton, an 18-year-old transgender person who identifies as a woman, was first arrested by Dallas Police on Feb. 23 on suspicion of three felony counts of sexual exploitation of children, and felony purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of controlled substances. (Keaton was found with a white powder at the daycare believed to be meth, according to the police report.)

The gay men risking their health for the perfect body

Jeff Ingold, from LGBT charity Stonewall says it is "crucial" that we see more diverse representations of gay and bisexual men with different body types in the media.

"Not only would this help gay and bi men see themselves reflected in what they watch, it would also help break down harmful stereotypes that affect gay and bi men's body image and self-esteem."

But as it is, Jakeb says he still gets people online telling him they "wouldn't leave the house if they looked like me".

"I didn't go on pride marches and have bricks thrown at me to have the community we've got now," he says.

"We have equality, but we're horrible to each other."
