Showtime fires Paulie Malignaggi over controversial remarks on racism, racial oppression

Showtime Boxing returns tonight (August 1st) from Uncasville, CT with a vacant WBO bantamweight title between Tramaine Williams and Angelo Leo as the main event, but the broadcast will not feature Paulie Malignaggi’s analysis. In fact, Showtime has axed Malignaggi altogether.

Boxing Scene first reported that the retired former world champion was removed from Showtime Boxing broadcasts for comments he made back in April in an IFL TV interview that he apparently refused to apologize for. When the apology wasn’t issued, Showtime gave Malignaggi the boot. Abner Mares will take his place at least for tonight’s broadcast.

Now we get to Paulie. He directly addressed Haney’s comments by saying that through boxing history, the sport has been dominated by different racial/ethnic groups, and he claims that African-American fighters are no longer the dominant force in boxing like they were in the 30-50 years ago.

Phonies Don’t Like Spending Time Alone; Authentic People Do

You know them when you see them – the phonies in your life. Maybe they are sycophants. They laugh too loudly at unfunny jokes. They say things you know they don’t believe, because they think that then, other people will like them. Or the “right” other people will like them, the ones they are trying to impress. They are trying too hard.

You probably don’t like being with people who seem inauthentic. It’s uncomfortable. Well guess what? They don’t like spending time with themselves either. That’s one of the costs of phoniness – it is no fun being alone with yourself.

In contrast, people who are authentic have a great big advantage: they like their own company. Spending time alone doesn’t scare them. They don’t worry about being lonely. Their alone time is something they value. It is important to them and they benefit from it.

Resurfaced clip shows Jimmy Kimmel laughing as Megan Fox talks about Michael Bay sexualizing her when she was 15

"I'm taking this summer off to spend even more time with my family," Kimmel said. "There's nothing wrong. I'm healthy, my family's healthy, I just need a couple of months off."

Many wondered if Kimmel was taking time off to allow the heat die down over resurfaced video clips of him in blackface doing an exaggerated impersonation of former Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone, especially since this has been the summer of canceling people.

On the heels of Kimmel's blackface controversy, another old clip has emerged that shows the progressive TV host in a very negative light.

Nonreligious LGBTQ People Face Discrimination, Stigma

A new report from American Atheists titled Reality Check: Being Nonreligious in America reveals high levels of discrimination and stigma for nonreligious people in general and notes that those who are LGBTQ have a disproportionate lack of family support.

“LGBTQ young people face significant family rejection that results in a greater rate of negative psychological outcomes,” states the report, released Monday and based on the U.S. Secular Survey. “Similarly, nonreligious LGBTQ survey participants were more likely to have unsupportive parents. Among families that are aware of the participant’s nonreligious identity, LGBTQ participants were significantly more likely to have had 'very' or 'somewhat' unsupportive parents (43.0%) compared to non-LGBTQ participants (34.9%).”

These numbers are cause for concern, the report notes, because “participants with unsupportive parents had a 71.2% higher rate of likely depression than those with very supportive parents.”

It doesn’t get any better for nonreligious LGBTQ people outside the home, either, with 22 percent of those surveyed reporting negative experiences at work.

We need new representation. Pronto! I've been living my life harder as a better person because someone thought a thug could be a hero. The thugs are the Nazis of our community, raping, pillaging and obliterating everyone they please. The upstanding citizen is always ignored or castrated for becoming...not them. White people don't really much complain because it keeps us busy and makes us easier to tolerate. It's only entertainment. They gift you for achievements unaccomplished while secretly suspecting. They elevate and inflate a selected few to King and Queen status and only support us in causes with the least life stress, less they perceive you as an ungrateful stereotype. The more of a petty life celebration, the less, us, in the pit are safe. You bought yourself a tower to represent the petty thugs that kill us because it's the only swag you've got. I sit here, a victim of countless thugs, refusing to worship or be labeled as one. We almost had them and the thug fucked it up. I don't fucking get it.

You can sit there and wonder, make excuses, but they hate us alike because we are thugs. Get it?

Oops! They can't hear me because they're hiding in a bejeweled tower, we helped create.

I think this is the perfect time to create heroes. Real ones. 12-Apr-2020

Elderly Woman ‘In Tears’ At Empty Supermarket Highlights Panic Buying Crisis

Countries around the world have witnessed unprecedented panic buying at supermarkets and pharmacies due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Aisles have been stripped bare every day as many try to get enough food to last them through a two week self-isolation.

However, there have been some people who have been greedier than others.

As a result, loads of shoppers have been left to get whatever is left and, in some cases, leave nearly empty handed with no idea how they'll get their groceries.

That was highlighted in a heartbreaking picture of an elderly woman in Australia standing in front of cleared out shelves that used to hold canned foods.

Channel 9's Seb Costello shared the picture on social media of the devastating reality that is facing many people across Australia and the world.

He reported the woman was left in tears at the bare aisles.

It is imperative that every gay senior (anyone over 30) travel. You are shunned by the cave dweller elite if you can't abide. What a doctor can't fix, running will. We run from the reality of aging in a community saddled by conflict and illusion. We ask for a travel partner so they can bear witness. We run faster so aches and severity don't catch up. The mirrors in other places make us look better.

Identity

Much of the research examining identity has focused on traits or dynamics that are considered universal for all human beings (e.g., self-esteem, introversion-extraversion, and levels of anxiety) regardless of race, culture, gender, sexual orientation, or class. At this level, researchers and clinicians treat human experiences as being similar, for example, the experiences of aging, coping with life stress, and interpersonal relationships. However, the extent to which any one of these traits and dynamics may be high or low, prominent, amplified, or muted differs as a result of sociodemographic categories such as culture, class, gender, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
